What is the point of taking a regular class where it’ll never be put into use? Like English is going to make any difference for a girl capable of changing a piece leaf into a single flower petal. Mathematics won’t matter when all somebody has to do in life is think about what a roller coaster may look like and metal automatically turns into it. Equations weren’t necessary. Neither were most of the idiotic subjects she was being forced to take. There was Spanish, where achieving any grade about a seventy five was nearly impossible, or maybe History where those time travelers have it easy. Then of course there is philosophy, not that anybody really cares about what a bunch of dead guys said anyway. Oh, then there was classic literature which was just fancy words for one of the most dull classes in existence. Like reading a bunch of books in different languages, some of which haven’t been used in thousands of years, written by authors who are long gone is going to really prepare anybody for the real world. Going to a “different” school isn’t much fun when you have to learn what every other kid is learning.
Well at least Evalynn Saracrost wasn’t completely different from the society she had grown in. At least when she was in her normal classes Eva really felt like a normal kid and she missed that feeling a lot. She could recall how it was like chewing on the end of a cigarette once it was nearly out, because she’d grown to take pleasure in the acidic like taste, in the backseat of a ripped up car with a bunch of people that she could consider friends. There was, every once in a while, that strange person there whom Eva either didn’t know or didn’t like but that didn’t stop her from smoking whatever was given to her. Every once in a while she even remembered the adrenaline and the rush of her soccer games or the feeling of accomplishment that overwhelmed her after one of her chorus recital. Maybe they were offered at this school but once Eva had been labeled as some “different” she had completely decided to give up on life. Well that wasn’t really true, but she’d taken more of a Buddha lifestyle with the exception of some pot once every while.
Then again there was science. Evalynns’ power revolved around defying the laws of physics and chemistry while having to follow the rules at the same time. Eva enjoyed the idea that she was able to do what any science textbook told her was impossible. She was able to change one substance into another, or in other words ‘elemental transmutation’. She learned how to rearrange molecular structures to give some matter a general new appearance by changing its color, shape or etc. The sixteen year had mastered that ability on most things except, of course, on humans or any animal in general. An exception would be the ability to change her hair color, yet it’s not living thing so it doesn’t really count. Changing something entirely too where it has different traits has been harder for Eva. It’s at a level of her ability where she is nowhere yet and probably wouldn’t achieve any time soon.
She wasn’t exactly what anybody could consider a ‘hard worker’. In fact Evalynn Avis Saracrost doesn’t like to work at all. She’d come to her classes completely shot up more then once. It was the best time to get high; it was like going to see circ de sole on mushrooms. When Eva had been forced to come here she’d decided that why the hell not give up on work and just party a bit? Although not one hundred percent, she was certain that nothing would get her kicked out of the place. Something about her powers if not controlled being “dangerous for humanity” and blady blah blah. The girl saw their point though; she’d by accident caused a slight fission transmutation on one of her autographed soccer balls. In other words she’d taken some of the molecules on the ball and was able to arrange them to make the ball combust. It would have been cool if she hadn’t been only thirteen and holding the ball in both of her hands.
“Ouch,” Eva muttered curses under her breath as her head made impact with the hard, wooden desk covered in doodles and profanity. She’d fallen asleep while reading her physics textbook again. It happened more and more as she stayed up later and later and found the ability to resist smoking harder and harder. She must have looked like a mess at the moment. She was wearing dirty clothing covered in dirt and spit, her jeans worn out and ripped; when had she last changed her underwear? Her bangs were in complete disarray but she wasn’t sure how the rest auburn hair looked since she had forgotten to look into her mirror. Her pool blue eyes were probably highlighted with her bloodshot irises. Eva’s lips felt dry and popped, her face was sweaty and it didn’t help that people were looking at her now. “What do you want?"
