I wish I could hear you again. It's been too long. You were always so lovely.
Blinking, a small, white head looked up at the massive waterfall straight ahead. It stood still, frozen. It had been that way since the beginning of winter. Remi longed for its sound. It was her escape from her old life. How much more would she have to wait? It seemed that spring was a million years away.
Had anyone, who knew Remi really well, seen her, they would have been taken aback. She was resting quietly on a mini island in the middle of the frozen river. She wasn't exactly the solemn, serenity type. In reality, she was a mean bitch to anyone who crossed her path. This was a rare moment for her. She was alone in the midst of the only place she could feel home anymore. What was she supposed to do but sit there?
Her peace was disrupted by a rustling in one of the bushes on the bank. Her ear twitched and she, annoyed, looked to where the sound was coming from. It continued until she couldn't stand it much longer. She shot up and sprinted across the rocks to the main land and crept toward the noise. Stopping just short, she listened intently, before pouncing on her prey.
Ugh. Just a frog. When will I get some good food?
Sighing, Remi let the frightened amphibian go. She wanted a mouse or other rodent badley. They had been scarce lately and it was starting to take a toll on her already small body.
The petite fox once again resumed her former position. She was bored and really needed some excitement. Anything, besides a stupid frog would be great. Her legs spread out eagle-like, she closed her eyes, wishing.
