I don't know about you guys, but I am absolutely obsessed with this movie - and its soundtrack.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Across the Universe is a musical featuring only music originally written and composed by The Beatles - all redone by the cast for the movie. The storyline follows a young man who travels from Liverpool to the US to find his father, and along the way, makes friends, falls in love, and unintentionally becomes part of a revolution.
It's absolutely phenomenal, and I recommend it to anyone and everyone with even the most remote liking for The Beatles, the 60s, or life, in general. ;]
To those of you who have seen it: Who's your favorite character? What's your favorite song? Least favorite? What surprised you most about the movie? What was your favorite scene?
My favorite characters are tied. I think I love Jude and Max equally. To be honest, Lucy kind of bugged me - though I feel terrible for saying that. My favorite song... I don't have one! I loved every single song on that soundtrack. My least favorite is "Blackbird", though I'm sure with a little time it will grow on me, too. What surprised me most was Prudence - though I can't elaborate without ruining things for people who haven't seen it (and I'm sure those of you who have seen it will know what I mean, anyway). My favorite scene is... wow. A three-way tie between "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Happiness is a Warm Gun", and "Hey Jude". Can you tell I'm in love with this movie? :]
