School Name: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Founded: 990 A.D.
Founders: Godric Gryffindor Rowena Ravenclaw Helga Hufflepuff Salazar Slytherin
Location: British Isles
Houses: Gryffindor Ravenclaw Hufflepuff Slytherin
House Information:
Gryffindor values courage, chivalry and boldness. Its emblematic animal is the lion, and its colors are scarlet and gold. ________________ is the most recent Head of House. Nearly Headless Nick is the house ghost. The founder of the house is Godric Gryffindor. The Common room for Gryffindor is located on the seventh floor and is guarded by a painting of the Fat Lady. She permits entry only after being given the correct password. Behind her is a large common room with a fireplace, and two staircases leading to the boys’ and girls’ dormitories. Gryffindor house also corresponds with the element of fire that symbolizes its brave and fiery qualities of its students. Gryffindors are also highly disliked by Slytherins according to previous headmasters due to their pointless heroics and unfair favoritism by most professors and the rest of the wizarding community.
Ravenclaw values intelligence, knowledge and wit. Its emblematic animal is the eagle, and its colors are blue and bronze. The Ravenclaw Head is _______________. No Ravenclaw house ghost is directly mentioned in the books; however, the Harry Potter movies name her as the Grey Lady. The house was founded by Rowena Ravenclaw. This house also corresponds roughly to the element of air. The Ravenclaw common room and dormitories are located in Ravenclaw Tower on the west side of the school. Ravenclaw house may also have an element of beauty within it, since Rowena Ravenclaw is described as being fair (pleasing to the eye), and that nearly all Ravenclaws are described as being handsome or beautiful and have had success in relationships with the exception of few.
Hufflepuff, founded by Helga Hufflepuff, is the most inclusive among the four houses, valuing hard work, determination, patience, friendship and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members. Its emblematic animal is the badger, and yellow and black are its colors. ________________ is the Head of Hufflepuff. The Fat Friar is its ghost and this house corresponds roughly to the element of earth. The Hufflepuff dormitories and common room are located somewhere in the basement, near the castle’s kitchens.
Slytherin, founded by Salazar Slytherin, values ambition, cunning and resourcefulness. Its emblematic animal is the serpent, and its colors are green and silver. William Santana is the Head of Slytherin. The Bloody Baron is the house ghost. Slytherin corresponds roughly to the element of water. The Slytherin dormitories and common room are reached through a bare stone wall in the dungeons. The Slytherin common room is a long, low underground room (probably under the Hogwarts Lake, thus Slytherin house’s affiliation with water) with rough stone walls and round greenish lamps hanging from the ceiling. The Sorting Hat claims that blood purity is a factor in selecting students, although this is not mentioned until the fifth book. This suggests that it bases its decisions more upon the views of its members, than directly on any accurate test of blood. There is no reason to believe that muggle-born students are not sorted there, merely that pure-blooded students are more desirable to that house. There are definite examples of half-bloods in the house (Snape, Voldemort), and one notable example of a non-pureblood who was nearly sorted into the house (Harry Potter).
History: Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago by two wizards and two witches: Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff. These four were among the most celebrated European wizards and witches of the age, and they personally trained all their students. As time went on Hogwarts grew in size as more and more students enrolled.
Slowly, cracks began to appear among the four founders. All four founders selected their students according to strict criteria (much of which was opposed to that of the other houses). Slytherin, however, sought greater forms of selection, desiring to limit school admissions only to students born to magical parents (he distrusted those born to non-magical parents); this desire brought him into conflict with the other founders, in particular Gryffindor. Tension also developed between the other Founders: the once-great friendship of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff failed as disastrously as that of Gryffindor and Slytherin, and, divided, the four founders and their houses sought to control the school, bringing the castle into fighting and chaos. Slytherin eventually fled the school; the other three founders, diminished by their loss, then re-established peace.
At some point before Slytherin departed, he had constructed the Chamber of Secrets, concealing within it a Basilisk. According to legend, he left this for his progeny, so that, when an eventual successor (the Heir of Slytherin) returned to the school, he or she would be able to open the Chamber, unleash the monstrous Basilisk within, and purge the school of all Muggle-born students.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Own Site History: Once upon a time a boy named Jimmy called his friend Katie and said "Do you like Harry Potter?" That was what started the domino effect to lead to the creation of Ultimate Hogwarts. Jimmy created a site, Hogwarts Unlimited, and began to teach Katie the ways of RP and how to be an admin. She was quickly overwhelmed, and sometimes didn't like it, but was determined to figure everything out. Erin was created, Jake was born, Chad came about, and Aiden to fight him. This was the beginning.
Jimmy eventually abandoned Hogwarts Unlimited for some unknown reason and Katie wasn't experienced enough to run anything on her own. The site failed, and for a few months nothing happened. All was silent.
Then Jimmy called Katie again, this time with a brilliant idea that could never fail. He wanted to create a new site, a better site, and in a mood to learn, Katie agreed. Ultimate Hogwarts I was created. Jimmy made a skin for the site along with pips and buttons. Once all of that was done, the role playing could begin. Once again it started with Jake and Erin, the two love birds. In order to begin his own turnings of a plot Chad was created, followed once again by the hero: Aiden. This happened in May.
We were soon joined by others; Jess, Amanda, and Diana were the firsts. Jess and Amanda went AWOL though and Jimmy, Diana, and Katie kept with the flow. Grace soon came in the forms of Kat, Amy, and Missy who really got the site rocking. Plot was moving along, everyone was having fun, and then Diana had some personal problems and had to leave.
This was not a good thing, she had many important characters. Luckily before she left she had kidnapped Katie to create a vampire site where Katie met Fred. The two soon discovered that their ancestors were next door neighbors and they hit it off pretty well, deciding that they must be related somewhere down the line. So Katie brought Fred over to the site. Around the same time Jimmy brought in his friend Rose who really got the site pumping with Xander who loved to stir up trouble.
Then, something very bad happened. Jimmy was already becoming more and more inactive, leaving Katie to run the site. She had caught on by then and was fine with it but in the middle of June while at a softball game, Katie was propelled into the air and came down hard on her shoulder, snapping her collar bone in two places.
Then the site died. Inactivity swarmed in like a plague. Were it not for Kat and Rose, the site would have fallen off the face of the earth completely. Katie tried to get on every now and then, but it is hard when your arm is in a sling. Finally, come August, Katie came back to find that the site was still alive! There was much rejoicing. Emails were sent out, telling everyone to come back. And they did. It was at this time also that Katie recruited Mackenzie and then we had a boy other than Jimmy.
Still though, Jimmy did not return. He made excuse after excuse of why he couldn't get on the site but he was on myspace non-stop complaining about how bored he was. Katie took over as admin then. Of course she had help from her friends. They would tell her what needed to be done and if she didn't know how, how to do it. Jimmy would get on every now and then and boss Katie around. She would smile and nod but mostly ignore him.
Finally everything was in bloom. We were all tired of waiting for Jimmy and had taken the plot into our own hands. It was February. This was of course when Jimmy decided to come back. He told Katie that she was a horrible admin when she had in fact been the one running the site for half a year. A fight ensued and Fred, always the big sister and defender of Katie, told Jimmy exactly what she thought of him. Jimmy got mad and threatened to delete the site so a meeting was held. All members (Rose, Kat, Fred, Katie, Kenzie + Mari and Amy on the phone) were brought into a chat room to discuss everything. It was decided that a military coup, or a mutiny, was needed.
Katie changed Jimmy's admin account name and password and then made Rose, Fred, and Kat admins with her. When Jimmy tried to get on the next morning, he was furious. Then all the members met again and we decided we needed to take action. We banded together and not one person, but ALL of us made this new site, the one you're looking at now, Ultimate Hogwarts II.
So credit for this site goes to not an admin but Kat, Amy, Mari, Kenzie, Katie, Meg, Rose, and Fred. The admins don't consider themselves dictators as Jimmy was, rather, we're senators and we do our best to represent the people. As we told Jimmy, a site does not belong to the person who created it, it belongs to the people who keep it alive.
A human body is but an empty shell if it has no soul to fill it.
Welcome to Ultimate Hogwarts II, our home, our baby, our democracy.
