The grass was swaying gently in the wind as Jin lay upon the road, passing the time till his combatant arrived. The day was bright and sunny, a nice change from the cold icy wasteland that he had never become accustomed to. When he had finally returned the cold felt alien to him...having been away from home so long. He was secretly grateful for the small grace the suns gaze provided.
He thought quietly of the events of the past weeks… how he'd recovered from his injuries and traveled all the way to vale, only to become hopelessly lost in the bazaar while trying to find Alec's office. He’d come for a rematch, simply put, but due to his maladroit navigation skills it was only thanks to her he made it out at all. It was humiliating, being dragged around by the one he'd come to challenge while she was shopping so he could find his way out. Further more, he learned afterwards that the bazaar was a mere 10 acres square, quite small for him to become so disoriented.
Finally free of the damnable market, he made his intention clear to Alec when they reached her office... only to receive a sharp whack to the head by robin before he could even finish his explanation. Apparently, she had not healed fully and her attendent resented that she'd accepted. It was finally agreed that they would do battle in a months time. She gave him a map and told him to pick a battle ground, but he sadly had no idea how to read the foreign symbols. Though he was embarrassed to say it, he would have to let her decide the location. In the end, it was decided that this field, just outside the range of mountains that hid vales location, would be the arena.
And so it was that Jin patiently waited for his opponent to arrive. He’d been there since the sunrise, hoping that she’d come early when the sun was low in the sky. But, alas, it was nearing sunset and she had still yet to appear. He’d nearly given up on her coming that day, thinking that robin must have buried her beneath a pile of paperwork again, when he heard her speak from behind him.
“Are you just going to lie around like that all day? I thought you came here to fight me, not get a tan.” She said, drawing him away from his thoughts.
He got up slowly, sore from the hard ground, and stretched his limbs. Then, brushing the dirt and grass from his back, he replied “what happened? You’re so late I could have been to prox and back by now!”
With this he shook his head, the dust from the road flying into the air in a cloud that made her cough.
“Still, I suppose it’s not your fault. Things are different here than in prox, you have paperwork and appearances to make, unlike me. Anyway, let’s just get this going. I’ve been laying there since dawn and I’d like to finally get this over with.” He continued, drawing a shuriken from his bag.

Sorry 'Vamp... Man... I'm spaced... completely.
Name: Alexandra Amaris Lumina (Alec for short.) Her name means Bright Child of the Moon Who Protects Man-kind.
Element: Venus.
Description: Sholderblade length blond hair, usually in a ponytail at the top of her neck. Hazel-green eyes that shift with her mood. Brown cape over a green tunic and brown pants. Darker brown boots and archry gloves on both hands. 5"3 1/2', 125 lbs.
Bio: That last of the Luminai clan, her family was killed in a great forgotten about war that swept Vale. Not long after the war, Alec found out that her father, Mason Amaris, might be somewhere out there in the world. Her only clue is a red and brown short sword that her father had forged for her, and a letter her mom had left.
Psynergies: Growth and Quake
Djinn: Flint.
Weapon: A short sword forged with Mars fire. Named Pyro Gaea, the sword of fire and earth. (Her father and her mother.)
Special Ability: Leaf blade. (I want to keep this attack. I've used it so much, that it's just stuck.
Alec allowed a small grin to light her face. Jin hadn't changed one bit, and for that, she was grateful. Her injuries had finally healed, and she was feeling rusty. Robin was driving her nuts. Papers after papers after papers... it was enough to drive anyone nuts.
Once this battle is over, I'm going on a trip, she thought, gazing at the setting sun. Vale's too small to stay in for prolonged periods. I think I'll go the Xian... I think they're having a festival soon...
Stretching her arms up, she yawned, then dropped her arms. Mustn't keep dear ol' Jin waiting. He looks about ready to set himself on fire. Allowing for one last slight smile, she drew her sword. The metal rang clear, and echoed through the surrounding mountains.
Already, a cool crisp wind was drifting through the grass, signaling that Summer was over, and the Autumn harvest should be beginning in the next few days. Most fighting would come to a stand still as warriors would be returning to their villages to help harvest, or families would be traveling to Tolbi for Colosso or to Xian for Tanbatta. Mercenaries made most of their money at this time, escorting travelers to either said city.
She ran her fingers through her long reddish blond hair, look forward to a bath. Before leaving Vale, she had helped patch a roof, and that got a bit dirty. She hadn't had time to do more then scrub her face. At least that was clean. Her hair felt stiff and greasy. Okay... must take bath before leaving... and I have to give Shadow a good scrub down... also pack... Must avoid Robin...
She smacked herself lightly on the head and pursed her lips. Battle first... plans later.
Tapping her side with the hilt of her sword, she muttered a couple of old world words. A small chirp rang through the air and then faded, as if nothing had happened. Now she looked at Jin. He seemed bored. Already he had a couple of shurikens out and seemed to be playing with the sharp points on one of them. Then he looked up at her.
"Are you finally ready?"
"Yes. I am. Are you?"
"Been ready since one month ago."
She didn't say anything after that. Pyro Gaea swung in a smooth arch. To most, it would look like a greenish-red blur, something that would be displayed on Christmas. To an adept, though, they'd see a green hue around the blade, growing bigger as it went. Her psynergy was full, beyond capacity. It happily surged from her body and down the blade as she took another arch before her. A butterfly arch, as she had heard it called. Because as the blade swung, the blur kind've resembled a butterfly. Alec pondered what the guy was drinking that thought it looked like a butterfly.
As nimble as she could manage, she sprung forward, then to the left. Each time her right foot hit the ground, she tapped the ground with her sword. A small bit of her psynergy left her sword for the ground, only to be replaced with more from her body. Then... she stopped, sheathing her sword.
Glancing across the clearing at Jin, she smiled. "You know... during my healing time, I came across a scroll in the library. Did you know that in a distant country, alchemy is done with symbols and circles? And also, has a rule off equvilent exchange? I'd hate to live there," she laughed. "But I read about one person who didn't use any of those fancy circle thingys. All he had to do was clap his hands together," she clapped her hands together as she talked, "and put his hands against what ever he was transmutting. Like the ground, for example." She thrust her hands against the ground, shoving more of psynergy into the ground. "Quake..."
The ground tremored, shaking violently and sending sharp rocks into the air. Then, the ground split suddenly, right beneath Jin's feet. He had the lunge to grab the side before he plunged into the hole. The quake did it's damage though, sending several rocks to cut the skin on Jin's leg.
Alec grinned and redrew her sword. "And that was how he did alchemy in that other country. Some say that country used to be somewhere up near Prox, but it long since plunged over the falls. Man... I'm glad we don't use no fancy circles. Thank Luna for that."
