Welcome to Tribal Weyr! We are a semi-canon Weyr. We are Threadless and set on the Southern Continent in an alternate future from canon Pern, racked by war and civil unrest.
~~~~~~
It has been turns since the now deceased dictator H'yr and his army attacked the Tribe. The North has all but fallen silent in infighting for succession, and the Invasion has fallen to the backs of most minds in light of brighter events. The dead have been mourned and we have lived on.
However, not all is quiet in the South. Long-laid plans are crawling to fruition in the shadows, and an unseen enemy is prepared to strike at the heart. The North will not remain quiet. It's time for the other shoe to drop.
Dragonriders of Pern belongs to Anne McCaffrey. Premise is the brainchild of both Night and Sprinkles, so please no stealing. Characters belong to the individual player. All art belongs to their creator, most is cited, if not it's likely it belongs to Night. Mira did the background, titlebars, and one of the banners.
Dragon and wher pixels are most likely based on those done by khiitan, likely with edits by either Mary Seif or the sprite's editor.
Wher face edits by Mira.
Welcome to Tribal Weyr. We hope you enjoy your visit.
Positions that are underlined and red are the most Needed positions. Make sure to check the Color Availability page before making a Rider or 'Handler.
AT THE TRADER CAVERNS
There are several things we need for the ancient Trading Nomads of Tribal. This includes anything from the leading family to the common, everyday trader. Currently, in demand are:
Lead Family: Patriarch - Open ----- Minimum age: 30 ----- The father and head of the current Leading Family. This is a position very much like a Lord Holder's, and it comes with just as much responsibility and merit.
Lead Family: Matriarch - Open ----- Minimum age: 30 ----- The mother and co-leader of the current Leading Family. This is a position very much like a Lady Holder's, and it comes with just as much responsibility and merit.
Lead Family: Child(ren) - Open ----- Minimum age: 15 ----- The child(ren) of the current Leading Family Patriarch and Matriarch. This is a position very similar to the blooded children of the Lord and Lady Holder of a large hold, and generally comes with similar expectations - the daughters marry well within the Trader tribe, the eldest son becomes the heir to their parents title. Bastard children are possible, however, it is much easier to tell who's a bastard child and who isn't in the Trader caverns, and so they are less common.
Traderfolk - Open ----- Minimum age: None. ----- Note: Traders come from just about any background one can think of as long as it remains in the South. Also keep in mind that while their ranks of craft are the same, several of their crafts are nothing like the 'canon' crafts seen commonly in the North and Northern refugees in our canon.
Masters - Open ----- Minimum age: 30 ----- Available Crafts: Any
Journeymen - Open ----- Minimum age: 16 ----- Available Crafts: Any
Apprentices - Open ----- Minimum age: 12 ----- Available Crafts: Any
AT TRIBAL WEYR
Currently, in demand are:
Bronzeriders - Open ----- Minimum age: 20 ----- Origins: Tribal, Benden, Fort, High Reaches, Ista, Igen, or Telgar Weyr ----- Note: Several positions usually held by bronzeriders are open - Wingleader and Wingsecond in particular for this color set.
Brownriders - Open ----- Minimum age: 20 ----- Origins: Tribal, Benden, Fort, High Reaches, Ista, Igen, or Telgar Weyr ----- Note: Several positions of note are available for brownriders as well, including Wingsecond, Wingthird, and the ever-needed Wingrider.
Blueriders, and Greenriders - Open ----- Minimum age: 20 ----- Origins: Tribal, Benden, Fort, High Reaches, Ista, Igen, or Telgar Weyr ----- Note: Preferrentially, these dragons are at least 2 turns old, if not older, and hold any of the following positions: Wingsecond, Wingthird, or the ever-needed Wingrider.
Bronzehandlers - Open ----- Minimum age: 13 ----- Origins: Tribal, Trader ----- Note: We are in dire need of bronzehandlers, as we only have a handful of active ones.
Brownhandlers - Open ----- Minimum age: 13 ----- Origins: Tribal, Trader ----- Note: We are in dire need of brownhandlers, as we only have a handful of active 'handlers.
Bluehandlers, and Greenhandlers - Open ----- Minimum age: 13 ----- Origins: Tribal, Trader ----- Note: We are in dire need of bluehandlers and greenhandlers, as we only have a handful of active 'handlers.
Headwoman - Open ----- Minimum age: 30 ----- Origins: Any, Preferentially Tribal Weyr born or Trader born.
Assistant Headwomen - Open ----- Minimum age: 20 ----- Origins: Any
Masters - Open ----- Minimum age: 30 ----- Available Crafts: Any
Journeymen - Open ----- Minimum age: 16 ----- Available Crafts: Any ----- Healers (those specializing in trauma/first aid, broken bones, herbalism, and/or Dragonhealing), preferably those not to be impressed, are the most in demand at the moment. We had a ton of our Healers Impress, things are a mess.
Apprentices - Open ----- Minimum age: 12 ----- Available Crafts: Any
Weyrfolk - Open ----- Minimum age: None. ----- Origins: Anywhere. However, keep your ages canon with your character's birthplace. A four-month old child wouldn't have been kidnapped to the South, nor would they have been shipped off by themselves. They may, however, come along with an actual candidate or escapee. We have several brother/sister pairs that were searched or escaped together, both in the kidnapping sense and the voluntary sense. ;P
Candidates - Open ----- Age range: 13 - 24 (Dragon) ----- Age range: 13 + (Wher) ----- We are usually in need of Wher and Dragon Candidates. They can be kidnapped candidates, shipped to safety candidates, folk from the traders, willing, or non-willing candidates, whatever. They may have a craft or be without, it matters little, but remember in most cases the care of a dragon rules out the use of their craft. We accept candidates when there are eggs on the sands and when there aren't, as it helps us work out how many eggs we should make in the first place. ;P Keep in mind the Activity Rules. Candidates are a lot of fun anyway, they can get into all sorts of trouble about the Weyr and the natural confusion of a northern-stolen candidate can be a good way for a newbie to get the feel of the game.
AT THE NORTHERN WEYRS
Several different sorts of PC Northerner are required for the North versus South plotlines, easily read about in the History section of the board. At this time in particular, we need those listed below especially for the Council that Fi'ar, H'yr's son and heir, has put together. They're all essentially under him, but he's better than H'yr ever was at treating them with respect, and does take their advice. He doesn't necessarily judge dragon color (unless you're a male greenrider who doesn't show contempt towards gays as he has, or are a woman). Basically, F'iar is gathering an Army. We need as many PC representatives for the Weyrs of the North as possible.
NOTE!- The North is not generally the focus of our board, so these aren't recommended for first or primary characters for players. It can be tough to drum up non-plot RP for these characters! That's not to say it's impossible, but they're generally unsavory sorts and mostly brought on-screen for plot purposes. Southern characters are much better for general threading.
Currently, in demand are:
Goldriders - Closed ----- Minimum age: 25 ----- Origins: Benden, Fort, High Reaches, Ista, Igen, or Telgar Weyr ----- Note: Goldriders are not appreciated, in any manner, shape, or form in the North - they are often regarded as little more than broodmares. Northern Goldriders are usually submissive, broken little girls that only luckily impressed, trained or battered for the express intent of keeping them under wraps and easily manipulated. However, the current Senior Goldrider at Benden Weyr might be valued/given a reprieve for her gender and even allowed into F'iar's Council if she's of a like mind to crush the South. --------- We modmins may hold a contest to have this character written. Who knows?
Bronzeriders - Open ----- Minimum age: 25 ----- Origins: Benden, Fort, High Reaches, Ista, Igen, or Telgar Weyr ----- Note: These are the most likely to be part of Fi'ar's council, as bronzeriders are the most highly held in the North's backward ways. We expect to see several bronzers in his Wing.
Brownriders - Open ----- Minimum age: 25 ----- Origins: Benden, Fort, High Reaches, Ista, Igen, or Telgar Weyr ----- Note: These are the second most likely to be part of Fi'ar's council, as brownriders are the workhorses and torturers of the Weyrs. These sorts are usually very dependable and strategic, the sorts of traits F'iar needs to help him stay cool.
Blueriders, and Greenriders - Open ----- Minimum age: 25 ----- Origins: Benden, Fort, High Reaches, Ista, Igen, or Telgar Weyr Note: These are probably the least likely to be part of Fi'ar's council, as green and blueriders are generally held in fairly poor regard, particularly those of cross-gender impression, as age old views on sexuality and homophobia run rampant through the North to the point of any mildly homosexual male greenrider ending up in Fort Weyr - the resident prison and torture-chamber Weyr of the North. Be prepared for IC slander if you are making a character that fits these guidelines.
Weyrfolk - Open ----- Minimum age: None. ----- Origins: Any Northern Hold or Cothold. Make sure your ages make sense with your histories.
Candidates - Open ----- Age range: 13 - 23 (Dragon) ----- We are in need of Dragon Candidates for the North. They can be willing, or non-willing candidates, and will be impressed via a Northern Hatching Plot, which has gone through a couple changes. They may have a craft or be without, it matters little, as in most cases the care of a dragon rules out the use of their craft, but keep in mind their craft may help them succeed in their endeavors for the plot. ;P
Keep in mind, though, the North is NOT the focus of our board and roleplaying opportunities will likely be rather limited for them while they are in the North.
