First, I'm loving your site! I'm really excited about joining but I have a few questions.
In all honesty, I've only read a short story by Anne McCaffrey [though I've joined Pern rps before], and I'm reading The Skies of Pern now and I forget for sure but, the guys change their name, omitting the second letter?, after Impressing right?

Can candidates and/or Weyrlings have pets?

Can my character be a Weyrling from the last clutch?
I thought this idea would be interesting if it worked since after the new candidates Impress, there will sort of be two different stages of training going on. Of course, that'd mean my dragon would come from a Green and not a Gold then, yes? Just a thought and not because this Clutch is closed haha.

And there's no restrictions on making characters who come from the Traders, right?

Male dragonriders do omit at least one letter of their name, though it doesn't have to be the second letter and it can be more than one. Tolly can become T'ly, Evemry E'mry, and (though it's slightly less canon), Taminy Tam'ny. It doesn't have to be the first letter and then the ending, either - say, Immister could become I'mis, or I'ster, or M'ster. A lot of the time honorifics end up being four letters long with the apostrophe after the first letter, though I think this is mostly because boy's names are commonly two syllables long and the first letter and the last syllable (consonant vowel consonant) is kept, like Kaidyn being K'dyn and Jayrel becoming J'rel.

Yes, candidates can have pets. Weyrlings can also have pets, but often find themselves too busy to take care of them if they're runners, canines, etc. Firelizards are fine, though, since they're pretty independent.

Generally, weyrlings aren't allowed to be made; you can only have a weyrling if they were a candidate and Impressed. That's what I've encountered, at least; Night and Sprinkles have the final call, of course Also, greens don't clutch; they're sterile.

I can't think of any restrictions right off hand, but Night or Sprinkles can say for sure.

Ooh right, greens don't clutch. I thought they might not, but couldn't remember for sure. Hm. Maybe they'll still allow it though? I was originally going to make a candidate because I want to play out my character still getting used to things, but then I thought of how he and his dragon would interact haha. If he was simply a new dragonrider, I suppose that would work too even though that's a bit more time for him to settle into things. I'll just have to figure him around what they decide.

Just because we already have an older Weyrling class character made, I'm going to say they're allowed. They'd most likely be close to graduating though and would be expected to help the younger Weyrlings out if they need it.
