Welcome to Tribal Weyr! We are a semi-canon Weyr. We are Threadless and set on the Southern Continent in an alternate future from canon Pern, racked by war and civil unrest.
~~~~~~
It has been turns since the now deceased dictator H'yr and his army attacked the Tribe. The North has all but fallen silent in infighting for succession, and the Invasion has fallen to the backs of most minds in light of brighter events. The dead have been mourned and we have lived on.
However, not all is quiet in the South. Long-laid plans are crawling to fruition in the shadows, and an unseen enemy is prepared to strike at the heart. The North will not remain quiet. It's time for the other shoe to drop.
Dragonriders of Pern belongs to Anne McCaffrey. Premise is the brainchild of both Night and Sprinkles, so please no stealing. Characters belong to the individual player. All art belongs to their creator, most is cited, if not it's likely it belongs to Night. Mira did the background, titlebars, and one of the banners.
Dragon and wher pixels are most likely based on those done by khiitan, likely with edits by either Mary Seif or the sprite's editor.
Wher face edits by Mira.
Welcome to Tribal Weyr. We hope you enjoy your visit.
Weyrbowl Surrounded on three sides by high cliff faces getting in and out of here on anything but dragonwings is difficult save for carefully monitored stairs and passageways. The Bowl itself, archaically named after the Weyrbowls of the North, is a sandy dip with only some scruffy yet leafy vegetation stubbornly rooted there. A deep river snakes from out of the canyon, perfect for bathing and the like.
Hatching Sands Once a lake lay in the now bone dry clearing set into the stone canyon walls, a stream that once connected to the central having smoothed out a ramp from the Weyrbowl to the somewhat higher in elevation Hatching Sands. Spectators perch on the sun-heated sands and above on the cliff-face, though even candidates are cautious not to get too close to the precious clutches that can be found at its center, usually guarded by an angry queen.
Rider's Weyrs Pockets in the steep stone walls that surround the Weyrbowl serve as functional weyrs for the dragonriders of the Tribe, though often they choose other ways of living than holed up in caves. Some settle on jutting ledges, building shelter or even sleeping beneath the stars. One thing is sure though; only fools make their home above the canyon walls, where dangerous creatures can prey on sleeping victims.
Handler's Quarters Wherhandlers live secluded from the day in stone catacombs at the base of the cliff, the entrances half-hidden with sand and foliage. Due to the fact that most 351-handlers are also wherhandlers, even those without whers tend to shelter here, though they are not restricted to the night.
Weyrling Area As part of their training and to make it easier to keep an eye on them Weyrlings are kept in an open air environment, each given a cot and a wooden chest pushed up against a wall of rock. Porch-like structures of tarp pull out from the wall in case of heavy rain, though as their dragons grow, many prefer the better protection of a dragonwing umbrella.
Candidate Barracks Really just a room off the dining hall with a lofty ceiling and stacks of bunk beds littered in the semblance of rows. Often wherhandlers patrol the two entrances to make sure none try to run or do anything equally foolish, though candidates are allowed out and about during the day - just as long as they behave.
Dining Hall Connected to both the Candidate Barracks and the Weyrbowl the Dining Hall is a large cavern in which meals are prepared and served on long wooden tables that are scarred by time, claws, and knives.
Storage Caverns Often sealed off to keep its contents safe from the elements these chambers hold the few things the Tribe does bother to store. Most traditions and stories are passed via word of mouth, though there are a handful of musty old records lying around there somewhere, not that many bother with them.
Infirmary This airy series of caverns lies very near to the entrance of the entire system in an effort to keep them from becoming dank and inhospitable for recovering patients. The cavern for housing human patients connects to a larger, cavern with a wide mouth for injured dragons and the like.
Special Events While these events are not mandatory, they are events that affect the entire population at Tribal. Sometimes they may be global. This is where all the Major Stuff Happens, and where the Archives for the previous plots are kept.
The Canyon A narrow, steep canyon that trails from the Weyrbowl. The Akalam River stretches down it's center until it passing into underground caverns far too small for habitation. A sentry guards the mouth of the canyon that connects to the Weyrbowl. Though most dragons, whers, and 351 feed on creatures caught in the jungle, some herdbeast and runners are raised for the humans of the Tribe as well as the infirm.
Trading Nomad Caves The system of above and underground caves in which the semi-nomadic trading group keeps their home as well as house their cattle and breeding stock.
The Jungle A harsh and unforgiving place shadows and brilliant green foliage the jungle isn't a place you want to get lost. Danger lurks in all shapes and forms, waiting for you to lower your guard. The treeline surrounding the Tribe's canyon is relatively safe, but the further you go into the brush the more you are at risk in this hot, humid environment.
The Skies Be it a playful romp in the air or a mating flight, nearly all dragons enjoy these vast and often bright blue skies. All mating flights/runs will take place here.
The North The tyrannical Empire of the Northern Continent rules with an iron fist, Benden Weyr ruling over all the others, Holds included. This includes any and all Northern lands, from which most Tribe candidates are stolen/Searched. Those from the South would do best to tread carefully though, the North isn't safe land for anyone.
