Taliesin was full of abundant energy. He was awake and raring to go. His muse was sleeping, leaving him energized and nothing to do. He raced ahead of his shadow, powder blue paws barely touching the ground. His vivid green eyes glittered excitedly as he raced the clouds ahead.

And then the rivier shimmered into view and he raced the currents. He left out a joyful howl as he swiftly flew, his paws seeming to never touch the ground. He felt alive, not at all the five years he was. He felt young, younger yet. And he loved it. Loved feeling so carefree.

Time was a fleeting thing. here one moment, gone the next. Time was insubstantial, insecure. Time was nothing, death was inevitable, but avoidable. Live on, dear bard. live on through your words. Live on through this monet, captured in the memory of another, live on in their eyes. Live on in the imprint of a paw in a mudpuddle. Live- eternally.

Bah, sorry this took while...

Finally it was spring! The snow was gone, the grass was peeking up again and the trees were beginning to regain their clothing. Spring was such a wonderful time. Such bloom and diversity, food was everywhere again, there wasn't a bad thing about this time of the year. The river was extremely full this time of year; the winter thaw added to it's water load and wolves had to be careful near the more violet rapids that peppered the river. Still Panic couldn't help but be drawn to the river at this time of year. It was such a time of rebirth, she couldn't help it. She held a quick trot to her paws while she walked along, simply basking in the feeling of grass beneath her feet. It wouldn't be long before the tall grasses made there way back into the land. Those were her favorite.

As she walked along, enjoying her meandering pace, a joyful howl rang out. She definitely wasn't the only one glad spring had sprung.

With a burst of speed, she urged her feet forward. Why not enjoy the bounty with another wolf? The grass was such a pleasure, traction was so much easier and she felt as though even her speed increased just from the grassy ground. The sky couldn't have been more perfect if a paintbrush had created it. A deep, shifting blue was dotted by fluffy, high clouds that moved lazily through the sea. The sun was out and though it was still a bit chilly, its rays were working hard to warm the earth below it. In her own excitement, Panic let out a howl of her own, alerting the other, as they had done, unknowingly, for her, that she was on her way.

Another howl rung out and taliesin grinned. he topped the crest of the hill to see Panic coming at him. He slowed his pace to avoid the potential collision. Hallo There! He called, greeting his alphess. he was a lighter blue against the darker blue of the sky. His lightning bolt stood out in stark contrast to the pale of his fur.

He greeted the alphess with a bow, awkward as it was. Greetings, lady pandemic. It's a pleasure to see you this lovely spring day. He stood again, emerald eyes direct and piercing. Where he came from, bards were the equals of Alphas. One led the pack, one gave the history so the other would know HOW to lead the pack.

One would not exist without the other. No alpha without the bard, no bard without the alpha. Equals. He didn't know any other way. And thus far, no one in these lands had seen it nessecary to correct him. Hopefully not ever.

The spring air was so wonderful in the lungs of the wolf. The winter months were hard. Every breath stung, prey was scarce, the weather was bad, the list goes on. It certainly was a beautiful time in it's own right, but Panic was glad for the spring. As the alpha ran on, paws barely hitting the ground with each step, another wolf came into view on the horizon. The sky blue wolf was easily lost in the backdrop of sky except for his clearly visible bit of pinkish-purple fur across his right eye. Taliesin. He was new member of the pack and Panic was eager to get to know him. He seemed like a very worthy candidate for the group and it seemed as though he would bring a lot. Though appearances weren't everything, it would take time to know for sure.

Her feet slowed as she approached the male and a full run became a light walk. He greeted her warmly, his head dipping into a strange looking bow. Why was it that males always had such a time with the bow? It was a curious thing that Panic never ceased to find amusing. Still, so long as he was polite, she didn't really mind much at all. The lady replied with a nod of her own head and a light wag of her tail. Her spicy colored fur was unusually colored like his, though not quite to the extent. Hers was a mix of cinnamons, chocolates, a redish nutmeg, and some darker, rust colored patches. It was mostly the patterning of her fur that was unusual, not so much the actual colors. But none the less, she was glad to have some company in her difference. Most of the other wolves that resided here were naturally colored.

"Hello Taliesin! The pleasure is all mine. I don't know about you, but I am so glad that spring has finally sprung. I was getting rather sick of the snow."

He gave a low chuckle. All weather has it's place, Pandemic. Snow, sleet, sun. It all had a purpose in this life, as do we all.

His smile was a friendly one, not reproachful as his words would have been if taken on thier own. rarely did he speak without coaching it in some poetic sounding way. that was the downfall of being a bard. One tended to do their job at all times, as most alphas never stopped being an alpha.

But i must agree, I prefer the sweet smelling spring to the dreary winter myself. there is more fodder for lyrical prose in the season of rebirth than the season of sleep.
