Character's Full Name: Chloe Anne Sullivan

Age: 21

Known Relatives: Gabe Sullivan (father); Moira Sullivan (mother); Sam Lane (uncle); Lois Lane (cousin); Lucy Lane (cousin)

Physical Description: With neatly stylised blonde hair and a slim, athletic form, Chloe does not protrude from a crowd for any reason other than her unassuming, youthful beauty. Gifted with an infectious smile and a cheeky demeanour, she prefers to dress casually in clothes that modestly accentuate her curvy figure. She is not particularly tall or weighty, and is rather petite; her size, though, belies her self-defence skills and her notable intellect.

Personality: The main focus of Chloe's life is the truth. After years of half-truths and deceptions about the reason for her mother's departure as a child, she became somewhat jaded towards secrecy and developed a strong moral code which dictated that people deserved to be aware of the reality of the world around them. Even before she became a journalist, she was renowned for her voraciousness for mysteries and was often at the heart of many of Smallville’s conspiracy theories. She is willing to do anything to discover the truth, and has unwittingly alienated those closest to her and gotten herself in serious trouble before now.

In a similar vein, Chloe is completely dedicated to her journalism career. Seeing it as a way to keep the public informed as they should be, she is an eager and enthusiastic reporter. Admired by her colleagues for her tenacity despite her youthfulness, she is willing to even put her life on the line for an important story and has been warned before now by her Editor-in-Chief to put her safety before her work. She has not heeded this instruction, though, and continues to fight for her personal form of justice by exposing the truth to the citizens whom she regards as being deserving of it. She views her occupation as far more than just a means of paying the bills; she thinks of it as a noble cause and realises that the press has the ability to make or break whole lives. Thus, despite her fervour for investigative reporting, she tries to temper it with a clear understanding of what is right and what is wrong.
Because of the small amount of family members that she maintains a relationship with, she is particularly protective over the friends she has – especially Clark, with whom she shares an unbreakable bond that has survived alien attacks, unrequited loves, and Lois Lane.

Special Abilities/Skills: Healing // Self-Resurrection – Infected by meteor rock, Chloe possesses the ability to heal wounds that could have even proved fatal to the victim. This manifested in May 2007, when her tears saved Lois’ life after a stab wound had been inflicted upon her. However, healing others seems to drain her life force from her; no firm definition or ratio has been established for her yet, but it seems to be that the worse the injury she heals is, the more her consciousness is drained. When she healed Lois, she actually died as a result of it, but was able to resurrect herself. This appears to be an uncontrolled side effect of her powers, but the limits have not yet been tested.

Personal History: Chloe's parents, Gabe and Moira Sullivan, had been divorced since Chloe was five. Moira was a metahuman with the power to control other metahumans telepathically, and admitted herself when Chloe was eight. Chloe was born in Metropolis. She moved to Smallville and befriended Clark Kent and Pete Ross in eighth grade. By her freshman year, she was the reporter and editor for her pride and joy- the Smallville Torch, the newspaper at Smallville High School, which she attended with Clark and Pete Ross. At the Torch office, she maintained a "Wall of Weird," a large mural where she posted articles concerning the often bizarre and eerie events that take place in Smallville, many of which are related to the mutagenic effects of the kryptonite from the meteor shower. Chloe seemingly had 24-hour access to the Torch office and a computer set aside for her personal use.
With contacts at the police station, public records, and even local hospitals and morgues, Chloe became Clark's source of information when it came to stopping metahumans determined to achieve their goals at the expense of hurting people. Many of these metahumans were students at Smallville; as a result, the victims were often fellow classmates. Chloe was no exception, and had several dangerous encounters her freshman year. She also nursed an unrequited love for Clark, which almost came to fruition when he asked her to attend the Spring Formal with him. They shared a kiss, but he eventually left to rescue Lana from a tornado and their brief romance came to a sudden end. She applied for an internship at the Daily Planet, and spent the summer in Metropolis. Here, she met Jimmy Olsen and enjoyed an amorous fling with him.
When she returned to Metropolis, she found her friendship with Clark had become strained. They argued when he discovered that she was investigating his adoption and, surprisingly, she became close to her love rival Lana in the aftermath of this incident. Lana even moved in with her, and despite an argument over Chloe’s personal files, they became like sisters to one another even though they still had feelings for Clark. When Clark let Chloe down once again, their relationship fell apart. In a strange twist of events, Chloe agreed to spy on him for Lionel Luthor if he gave her a column at the Daily Planet. Meanwhile, Clark infected himself with red kryptonite and fled to Metropolis. Chloe tracked him down and helped him to return to Smallville. They managed to repair their friendship, remaining strong even when Clark learned of her former affiliation with Lionel.
She then joined forces with Lex, helping him gather evidence to bring Lionel down. They succeeded, and Lionel was imprisoned. He still managed to ‘kill’ Chloe, however, destroying the safehouse she had been sent to. Luckily, she was rescued by Lex’s bodyguards and tracked down by Clark and Lois. The following year was even more eventful for Chloe than before: she was infected with a love potion, possessed by a witch, and even learned Clark’s secret thanks to the meddling of Alicia Baker. As the second meteor shower hit Smallville, she was teleported to the Fortress of Solitude and almost froze to death. After this, Clark told her everything, and the two became closer than ever. One year later, Zod attacked Earth and instigated Dark Thursday. During this, Chloe was almost killed by a raging mob and was reunited with Jimmy.
In the following twelve months, Chloe made huge leaps in her journalism career, dated Jimmy, watched Lana’s marriage to Lex fall apart, and learned that she was meteor-infected after an encounter with her estranged mother. She also assumed the role of “Watchtower” for the fledgling Justice League. Meanwhile, Lois had formed a vendetta against Lex, but was stabbed whilst investigating Reeves Dam. Chloe found her corpse and her power manifested, healing Lois but killing herself. She was declared dead at the hospital but resurrected herself hours later, and helped Clark defeat the last Phantom. Unwilling to reveal her power to Jimmy, her relationship with him disintegrated. She created a false identity for Kara Zor-El after she was awoken, and played a key role in restoring her memory and saving Clark from Lionel.
Chloe was warned by Lionel that something terrible was coming before discovering that Lana had attacked by Brainiac and forced into a coma. She forged a relationship with Clark after Lana was revived and separated from him. Lois became aware of her secret, and Chloe now finds herself in a new stage of her life...

RP Sample: The Narrows.

It was legendarily infamous throughout the United States of America, its crime rate soaring above almost any other in the country. It was a den of inequity within a larger den of inequity, known as Gomorrah to Gotham City's Sodom. Sequestered away in a dark corner of the concrete jungle, its reputation belied its size and drove any innocent citizen away from its corrupted corridors. But whilst most hastily walked away from it - taking care not to move too quickly, so as not to exude weakness to any predators that had strayed away from their territory - Chloe Sullivan found herself striding confidently toward it, a determination settling across her grim visage. She made no attempt to conceal the small container of pepper spray clutched within her hand as she entered the unfamiliar district; although such conditions were starkly contrasted to the likes of her home in Kansas, she was well aware of the protocol for women when endangering themselves so blatantly.

Show no fear - demonstrate your readiness for any attack - always appear to be in control.

Three simple instructions that would have terrified her father if he knew that they were passing through her mind. Her heart hammered against her chest and she felt her breath become shallow as the oppressive atmosphere closed in around her, but she merely tightened her grip around the empowering pepper spray and continued to stalk further into the Narrows. An undeniable sense of foreboding and menace threatened to envelop her, and she suddenly regretted her decision to hunt for a story in this part of town - though, of course, she was certain that she would find one here. Dusk had begun to assert itself over the city, heralding the final descent into night. If she were fortunate, she might be able to snatch a glimpse of the mythical Batman; if she weren't, she might end up being dredged up from the river by the next morning. Still, the trip was a necessary one. Chloe was intent on making a name for herself as she had in Metropolis, and had considered this an easy task in a place so filled with crime and corruption...

...but it was not easy at all. At least, not when everyone that mattered in a reporter's sense seemed to deny or ignore that state their city was in. And so, any investigative journalist 'worth their salt', as the phrase went, would have to strive to find a story - or perhaps even make one.

If she could accomplish that without scoring any bruises, Chloe would be supremely happy with herself.

I like it, and your writing sample is uber-strong.

I am just not sure about the super-intelligence thing. It only appeared to my recollection in the first episode of the new season, and considering the fact that it has not been explored yet, it could be a side-effect of her encounter with Brainiac. We can develop it into the story once we find out what it is for sure, but for now I'd rather just leave it out for argument's sake.

If that's cool with you, let's cut it out, and then we'll get the approval ball rolling.
