The Fera System is home to two planets that are capable of supporting life, Fera and Sieger. It's is very similar to our solar system in make up. Fera is the third planet from the sun, Sieger is the fourth, next is an asteroid belt and afterwards there are three gas giants. Currently, the entire system is a war zone between several different races, yet it still remains an attraction to daring hunters.

Fera itself is dominated by one supercontinent which is dominated by different types of forest. In the south, vast stretches of mangroves dominate the coasts, but as one approaches the north, the land develops into a tropical rainforest, twice the size of what use to be the Amazon. However, this forest eventually hits the base of a mountain chain, here is where the forest turn into boreal forests. On the other side of the mountains, the dominant forest type is Taiga.

Sieger is a harsh, desolate planet, covered in mostly tundra. Although it offers little in terms of inhabitability, Sieger is abundant in resources, even though much of them are unextractable, the amounts mined are enough to provide for small colonies that dot it surface as well as the ones on Fera. The importance of Sieger is almost unrivaled, seeing as how its location makes it a asset to anyone trying to get a hold of the system.

Creatures within the Fera system make it an attractive location for hunters. The exotic wildlife and terrains not only make it prime hunting land but also a difficult region to fight in.

Spike Beast
Height: 4 ft
Length: 10 ft
Weight: male-865 lbs female-1000 lbs
avg age: 35 years
general characteristics: Spike Beasts are the buffalo of Fera, they inhabit the forests of Fera and move surpisingly agily through the trees. They travel in small herds of 7-10, with a dominant male. They are docile vegetarians but when surprised or confronted, they can cause serious damage.

Feran Wolf
height: 3 ft
length: 7 ft
Weight: male-180 lbs female-160 lbs
avg age: 20 years
general characteristics: There name basically covers their niche. these creatures travel in packs of 8-12 and can move both on the forest floor and through the trees. They are aggressive predators and are very oppurtunistic about what they hunt. One of the most common game types of Fera, these creatures are hunted without restraint.

Shadow Claws
height: 4 ft
length: 12 ft
Weight: male- 600 lbs female-550 lbs
avg age: 20 years
general characteristics: These solitary predators fill the same niche as tigers or jaguars. They are very stealthy and provide for one of the greatest hunting challenges on Fera. Their paws are very powerful and can be used with more dexterity than any big cat of Earth. They are prized for their many body parts that can be used as trophies.

Tree Splitter
height: 17 ft
length: 30 ft
Weight: male- 30 tons female- 26 tons
avg age: 70 years
general characteristics: These elephant creatures are a rare find and require persistence and knowledge to be found, but once a trail is found, they aren't difficult to track. These beasts move in family herds of no more than 5, males travel solitarily. They're named for their tendency to split trees with their horns. They are known for their unbridled temper once angered and their great memories.

Lemurmang
height: 5 ft
length: 5 ft
Weight: male- 160 lbs female- 140 lbs
avg age: 40 years
general characteristics: These sapient creatures are quite odd. they exhibit features both simian, ursine and canine but do not posses many natural melee weapons, other than their teeth. They are generally omnivorous but lean towards plants, mainly a bamboo-like grass. Although they feature little immediate danger, possesing only slightly more-than-human strength, they are regarded as the most dangerous game of all. This is because of their brains, considered smarter than any parrot or dolphin, approaching humans. They can fashion simple tools easily and can create things like baskets, nets and weapons like boomerangs and bolas. Closer inspection would reveal them to be truly sentient, but that would make hunting them more than just barbaric.

These are the creatures described above. Starting from the top left going down: Spike Beast, Feran Wolf, Tree Splitter, (top right down) Shadow Claws, and Lemurmang Images are definitely not to scale.

Fera History

Fera was discovered by the CA sometime ago and immediately they saw the system's vast amount of life. Poaching became a quick problem which forced the CA to designate the system as a wildlife preserve, setting laws even stricter than ones carried out on any of their other colonies. Poachers realized the risk was too great and so the planet became exactly what it was, eventually getting lost in time, protected by the fact that know one even knew about it. It went undisturbed for quite the time before humans happened upon it.

Humanity had already carved out a moderate chunk of the Orion arm and quickly recognized the system for its resources. Slowly though, wealthy and adventurous men began hunting in Fera's forests. Eventually, many different corporations tried to cash in on this, turning Fera into a hunting park. Eventually though, CA probes picked up the growing human influence in the system and alerted the aliens to their presence.

Upon seeing the massive amounts of hunted creatures, the CA took action against the humans, joined by several other races. The human government was forced into war when the aliens began destroying human ships and then attacked several surrounding human colonies. Luckily, they were aided by several sympathetic races.

Currently the Fera system is a war zone. Battles rage throughout the system, mainly near the Gas Giants, however, enemy ships occaisionally break through and get to Sieger. The system itself is mostly cut off from the rest of humanity and only small, infiltration craft can come in behind enemy lines to reinforce those within.

Having gone without a formal military for decades, humans are forced to use their police forces to fight in the massive battles and slowly growing more reliant on using militia, mostly hunters, and units from defense corporations.

Another growing problem is the hunting of humans for sport by small bands of nonaligned aliens taking advantage of the mayhem.
