Was asked by Pink why some movies looked so cool. So the question is what are cool settings? Settings to promote our game with. I'm always amazed how some players use good settings to make movies and actually play with crap settings them selves.

Here's an attempt on my part to make cool settings.

seta r_vertexLight 0
seta r_mapoverbrightbits 3
seta r_intensity 1.3
seta r_gamma 1.7
seta r_colorbits 32
seta r_depthbits 24
seta r_detailtextures 1
seta r_drawSun 1
seta r_lodCurveError 500
seta r_mapoverbrightbits 3
seta r_picmip 0
seta r_rmse 0.0
seta r_roundImagesDown 1
seta r_simpleMipMaps 4
seta r_stencilbits 8
seta r_subdivisions 2
seta r_texturebits 32
seta cg_fov 90
vid_restart

You can really play with these settings. Some examples. Click to enlarge.

Rule number 1~...

Leave the pink Kraken asleep when he is asleep. Do not release the Kraken biggrin.gif

Rule 2:

Never follow any setting for visuals, not even by admin.

It is all individualized, and last time I listened to an advice, my fps dropped on all servers from a 125 to 60....on all 1.0 rtcw.

I still have 125 on 1.4 but who cares about 1.4????

I like good graphice. It is pointless to spend hours of game play watching bad graphics.

Q is:

Will increasing the resoultion make it harder to point the crosshair (aim)? I think so, but not sure and don't want to try ...playing at 640x480 really sucks, even 800x600 still the image is pixellated....I haven't tried any higher resolution

Afraid the game might crash....it is too buggy on 1.0.........

No, you have to change the sensivity.
Saw the screenshots of my version?

yes, Rex, I did, but they take too long to load at http speed, which should be faster than the game.

And in your version, I didn't see the crosshair at all.

pink is blind!!!!!

So, if I go to that higher res, like your's (cool graphics btw), I have to change the sensitivity AND the crosshair size?

As it is a 2880x1620 resolution you should scroll to the middle of the picture to see the crosshair wink.gif

I use crosshairsize 25 atm.
And yes, you got to change sens in order to to "aim" ;D

Doesn't look natural imo.

I've decreased intensity a bit, and played with it yesterday. Didn't have a big disadvantage playing with these. I think it's a keeper. cool.gif

I believe we could get more players if we show people that the game, though old, still looks good and can rival the graphics of all modern games. biggrin.gif

Anyway, I followed lah's good advice. A touch less intensity and a touch more gamma did the trick. It looks good and natural on all maps. cool.gif

seta r_intensity 1.25 (old 1.3)
seta r_gamma 1.75 (old 1.7)

This will be my new game settings and the standard for making pics and movies.

And I won't be using fog removal. In fact I've removed that on my osp rotation server.

"r_intensity" IN 0 2
"r_uifullscreen" IN 0 0
"r_wolffog" IN 1 1
