In the elven lands of Raguinia lies the great kingdom of Ríocht. It is a time of mourning as the beloved king has been found dead in his royal chambers. His wife has taken the throne and the people have embraced her as their sovereign queen. No one questions her story that assassins poisoned her husband; no one but her eldest son, the rightful heir to the throne. He believes his mother, drunk with power, has murdered her husband and betrayed the kingdom to form an alliance with Noxstern, an evil kingdom that controls an army of the dead. Without proof of his mother's plans, the young prince is wary of seeking support to overthrow her, though he believes that it may only be a matter of time before the kingdom is lost to the growing darkness overtaking the land.
The king is dead.
Long live the queen.
Ríocht is a fantasy rpg that takes place in a medieval elven kingdom where magic is feared, though it can be found if you know where to look. The main plot revolves mostly around the castle and the royal family, but we love and encourage sub-plots! Canon and original characters are welcome. We have no bans. We also have an original Bestiary where contributions are encouraged and interactive battles in the forest where you choose the outcome.  currently  season: spring weather: clear and mild

COURTYARD + STABLES
Just within the castle gates is a large clearing. To the right you'll find the stables where you can rest your steed. To the left you may see the kingdom's guards and knights assembling for their practices and patrols.

THRONE ROOM
The royal throne room is where the Queen's advisors meet to discuss the kingdom's current affairs. The Queen is only found here on occasion, to receive royal visitors or to solve disputes for her loyal subjects.

GREAT HALL
Where the castle's many feasts, balls and other special events are held in excessive splendor. It is a quite expansive room, capable of providing more than one hundred guests with a place to sit, as well as plenty of room for dancing.

KITCHENS + SERVANT'S QUARTERS
The kitchens have their own private garden where produce is grown for the great many feasts held at the castle on a regular basis. Not far from there, the dingy servant's quarters may house three or four people uncomfortably to each room; beds may or may not be available and may be fought over regularly.

CORRIDORS + ROOMS
The castle is filled with numerous corridors, passageways and rooms. Some are occupied on a daily basis, while some are left unused or hidden away from sight. There are those who know how to find these places, but others still who may prevent passage to them.

ROYAL CHAMBERS
The royal chambers are in a wing of the castle all their own and are nearly (though not completely) impossible to reach without a formal invitation to get past the guards that keep a watchful eye on these rooms. There are separate chambers for the Queen
and each of her children.
