The rusted pick-up truck clunked and spluttered, coming to a stop at the gas station. Though, on a stroke of luck, it was because the driver had stopped it; not because of it finally dying, an event it had been showing signs of for years. The door squeaked and croaked as a skinny leg kicked out of it. Hero Paisley Chesterworth hopped down onto the ground, for the pick-up truck was very high. The short brunette slammed the door. You would've thought, what with the truck being in such an awful state, she would've taken more care. Hero's hair was messed and knotted, her little upper-body was completely buried in a huge, loose sweatshirt which hung over her black shorts beneath. Her legs had long tube socks pulled over them and sneakers over her feet.
Hero had only just dragged herself out of bed and her father had been on her back about getting gas for the car. She held the handle as she filled up the gas, almost falling asleep against the car. There were a million things she'd rather do than traipse around the gas station. The fumes infected her nose, she coughed, pushing her hand through her hair. Today was one of her low days, emotionally, that was for sure.

Darrell had noticed the night before, that his black 1967 Chevy Impala was low on gas. He would have gone to the gas station that night, but knew he would be more likely to get jumped then. He turned his car on, noticing how little gas was left and prayed that the car would make it to the gas station. He made a mental note to tell his brothers once again that if they were going to take his car, which they shouldn't, that they should at least gas it up. As he pulled up to the gas station, he thanked g-d that the car had made it. The last thing he wanted to do was leave his car on the side of the road and walk. He got out of his car and walked over to the side to take the cap off the gas tank. As he was walking over, he noticed a girl, who looked fairly young. "Hey," he said to her as he picked up the gas nossel.

Hero's whole body jilted as a voice awoke her from a temporary slumber. Or some kind of dead state. Hero didn't raise her head at first; for just a few nanoseconds, she stared at the ground still, the top of her head still resting on the truck. This person could've been anyone, there was a large chance that it was someone without the best intentions. She had learnt to stay cautious of anyone and everyone. When she did finally look up, her dull, dark green irises rolling over the other person, she smiled. A big, sweet one; a Hero smile.
"Hey," She replied back to the male. Surveying for just a moment, Hero estimated he was older than her. Twenty-something, maybe, but not much older. And incredibly attractive. Which made Hero give a bigger smile, wanting to giggle like a five year old. Luckily, she kept that in. "How's it going?" She asked.

Darry had to remember to be cautious with what he was saying. Around here, fights broke out between the two groups. However, from the looks of it, he had nothing to be worried about. He surveyd her car, from the looks of it, she wasn't a socs. "Good, just getting some gas," he told her, patting the side of his car, "And yourself?" He observed the girl some more, trying to figure out her age. She looked young, too young to be driving a car, but at the same time kids these days were looking younger and younger.
