The House of Julia Felix
An enormous house owned by Julia Felix, who rents out dozens of private rooms to respectable Citizens.
---
This house was excavated from the ruins in the 18th century and brought completely to light in the years 1952 - 1953. There is a big and elegant garden with a portico supported by little marble pillars. At the center there is a summer dining-room (triclinium) with marble beds and a fountain with a waterfall. A second entrance leads into the bathroom (balneum).
There is a graffitied announcement on the balneum (bathroom) door stating that its use could be rented with part of the house: "Julia Felix, daughter of Spurius, rents to respectable people an elegant bathroom worthy of Venus, a workshop with apartment on the upper floor and mezzanine from the first of August. The lease will expire in five years."
A very large and lavish domus, the house of Julia Felix is one of the ONLY houses in all of Pompeii to contain a private bath. That's right! All respectable citizens who rent rooms and apartments within this expansive domus do not have to make a trip to the public bath houses

To say that the season for pursuing Wisdom has not yet come,
or that it is past and gone, is like saying that the season for
happiness is not yet or that it is now no more.
