Space
It takes days, even weeks to travel in between planets. A lot can happen out in the Black and if your ship breaks down...it would take an honest miracle for help to reach before freezing to death.

Grey Haven
Originally a deep space research station, she was abandoned by her crew after Unification. Scavengers moved in and cleaned the place out, but afterwards, she was found by a few former Independents looking for a place to start a new life. The place had already been emptied so it wasn’t difficult to transform the massive station into a profitable skyplex. Bars, inns, bazaars, you name it, all quickly filled the skyplex’s vacancies. Technically, the skyplex lives under Alliance law but there’s not a planet within 6 hours of skyplex and if any cruiser happens to pass by, the station’s sensors would pick them coming in long before they docked for inspection.
