Genocide or Not, Indians vs. Settlers

The topic is this: Do you feel that what the Colonial government/ white settlers did to the indians was genocide? A good example is the trail of tears. I will post my feelings on the subject after someone else does.

No, I don't think it was. The settlers did want the land, and they did incredibly cruel things to get it, but they did not intentionally kill them. They had many stereotypes against them, such as calling them unedducated savages, so they would beat them, but their main intention was to send them off the land they wanted, not to kill as many as they could.
