Day two of employment was coming to a quick and welcome close for the new only head secretary of the New England School of Magic. The ex-socialite had no idea of how much paper work went into running a bloody school. Out of everything she'd been asked to do so far, nothing could have been accomplished by soley magical means. She found it odd and terribly impractical. Currently, she was gophering student files about all those pesky troubled kids to all the teachers offices. She was a bit put off with how many there were. It didnt seem as if the instituation was THAT grand of a place. Oh well, Sadie supposed all kids were angsty at one point or another. Thats just sort of how the world worked.
As the woman rounded the corner, she saw her destination. A rickety old door at the far end of the corridor. The blonde woman was always one for first impressions and so she ducked into the second door on her right, the woman's loo. Setting the files down none to carefully onto the first sink basin; she began primping ber blonde hair in the mirror. Today she had it up in a deliberatly messy bun with a cute tan and copper braided headband that pushed her long whispy bangs out of her face. She was wearing an equally tan vest over a plain plum button up shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans. Her shoes were tanned leather and reached jsut below her knees. They were a pretty stacked wooden stilletto shoe from some muggle designer. When she'd seen them originally; she knew they were for her. She'd purchased them impulsively and was even three years later, completely pleased with the decision. They may have been her favorite pair.
Okay, so her blue eyes quickly concluded she looked just fine. Her mascara was thick and beautiful without being clumpy; her eyes were bright; gloss securely in place without looking too shiney; yeah she was fine and wasting valuable time. The woman looked at her watch and decided not to linger any more. The woman hastily snatched up the files from the sink and stared as her eyes fell onto a somehow familiar name.
"Professor Jak Blake," she said to herself. The name rung a bell but she couldn't place why. She was delivering files to some quidditch guy who she somehow knew about. "Jak, jak jak," the woman mumble to herself as she exited the bathroom. She was trying hard to jog her memory. Any memory would have been helpful! Alas, nothing seemed to be coming to mind.
As she approached the door, she was now curious and slightly annoyed that she couldnt recall anything about this Jak character. She'd always been descent enough at remembering people. She shook the thought and knocked loudly. Hopefully he was hot-this Jackie boy. The woman stood stationary, clutching the papers to her chest for a long moment with no answer. She exhaled heavily and turned the door knob. Pushing it open slowly, Sadie stared at part of the floor that was now visible. No one seemed to be around.
"Hello," she called loudly. After another moment of silence, Sadie rolled her eyes and stepped inside.

Jak yawned. This entire "teaching" thing was getting on her nerves lately, especially after Winter break was over. She'd gotten so used to sleeping at four in the morning and waking in time for the Happy Hour at the local pub that she was having a difficult time adjusting to the school schedule again. Over break, she'd neglected her broom, since everything in this new city she was living in was either walking distance or there was muggle public transportation to get to it. Flying seemed less popular around New England than it did at her old home. Floo powder was something she didn't enjoy, either, and apparition was quite unsettling to her, even after she had learned it, so flying was the only way she'd ever gotten around. Fiddling with her black blouse's top button, the dark haired woman narrowed her bright eyes at the broomstick that lay on her desk. It was so neglected, it hurt her inside. The broomstick was her professionally issued team broom, the exact same as everybody else in the European league (to keep the games fair, of course), with her name engraved in the handle in silver calligraphy. It wasn't gleaming like it usually did when it caught the natural light from outside, indicating that it definitely needed some maintenance. Opening her bottom drawer, the woman removed her personal broom care kit and took it out, leaving the drawer empty, like her desk was for the most part. The only other things in it were quills, inkwells, parchment, and a few pieces of used parchment that were important. For the most part, many of the papers that hit her desk automatically landed in the metal wastebasket next to her desk, since all she cared about was teaching her kids to fly correctly and play well. The Quidditch coach hadn't heard anybody open the door. However, at the same time, she had snapped her fingers, igniting a pair of torches affixed to her wall to give the room much more light than the overcast day outside provided. She needed light to ensure her broom was in pristine condition. As the room illuminated, Jak looked up, finding company in her room the moment after her guest had said "hello." She raised an eyebrow. This blonde woman who had the guts to enter her room was obviously new. In the six months she had spent there, Jak knew the staff and students, and this one wasn't familiar. She pushed her thick, black hair behind her ear, studying the new girl up and down. She didn't recognize her, obviously, so Jak, remembering her manners, greeted her nicely. "Can I help you?" she began, a bit of attitude in her voice. "I was about to do something rather important, so if this can wait, I'd prefer it did." Particularly as long as possible. Women weren't exactly the pale woman's preference. Ever since her childhood, she had been raised with the boys, played in their league, and proved that she belonged with them. In her teenage years, she screwed so many of them that she preferred her tomboyish actions, but knew she was nothing close to a lesbian. As an adult, Jak embraced her femininity, but refused to give most women around her the time of day, except those who were on her old professional Quidditch team, and those who she now worked with (who she was still a bit standoffish towards).

"I was about to do something rather important, so if this can wait, I'd prefer it did."
Sadie's blue eyes met a pair of dark ones and she openly stared for a long moment before dropping her head and looking at the files in her arms as if they were about to catch fire. Jak was a woman?! How wierd. Sadie was fully expecting some tall dark haired muscular guy and instead she was given some dainty woman with the name of a bloke? Sadie cleared her throat.
"Oh, yes." she said awkwardly, "Professor Blake." The woman walked up to the small desk centered in the room and set down the six inch thick bundle of files. She was careful not to disturb the broom. As such, the papers were situated on the corner edge closest to Sadie and were dangerously close to falling. The blonde's eyes met her fellow staff member and she held out a manicured hand.
"Sadie Donovan," the woman said, her voice still housing suprise. "It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Blake," she put a bit more emphasis on the Miss than she had intended, but the shock of a female named Jak was still there. Why the hell would anyone name their child Jak? Maybe it was short for something. Then it dawned on her. Or what should have dawned on her gave way to something else she normally wouldn't have ever thought about. This woman didn't have an accent-not to her anyways! Sadie smiled and let out a little laugh.
"It's nice to know I'm not the only one from across the pond here." She laughed again and spoke quickly. "I'm the new office aid. If you need anything, papers or memo's or what not, I have a card in there." She pointed at the files- "If you write on it, I'm told I will be able to see the message on--" the girl pulled out another similar card and flipped it over on itself between her fingers. "mine."
Sadie smiled cheerfully and rocked lightly onto the balls of her feet.

The blonde woman entered and set a pile of files on her desk. Jak instinctively groaned. "Not again! How does a Quidditch coach have anything to do with papers?" She leaned forward and snatched them up, reading the various labels on them, skimming through one folder and throwing it in the trash bin. It belonged there anyway. Just old attendance records, after all. However, she highly doubted that she would find anything of use or interest in the pile anyway, and set the rest of it back down, untouched.
Sadie Donovan. That name. She knew that name. The icy-blue eyed woman looked up at the blonde, biting her lip. Sadie. Her accent became more obvious as she made another remark pointing out her own accent. She was from Europe too. And it was terribly obvious once Jak realized that this was an old schoolmate of her's. Even better, she was one of the few girls in school she even recognized as an acquaintance, much less, a friend. Office aid. How typical of her. She would be a secretary, and she would wear those jeans. It was truly amazing, though, that Sadie didn't recognize her.
Jak leaned forward and bit the feathered end of her quill. She wasn't sure what to do with an old friend who didn't realize who she was, and who turned out to be somebody who looked like a Barbie doll. Dropping the quill, she rubbed her forehead with her hands, angered that her office hadn't turned out like she wanted it to be. It was supposed to be filled with nothing, a paper was never supposed to touch her desk, and it was supposed to be the sexual capital of the school, but hardly a single male near her age had walked into the room, much less used her desk as a bed.
"It's actually Jacqueline Blake, but I'd never admit that to another soul on the planet." Sadie should understand what that meant. Heck, even Jak was surprised that she was giving Sadie hints about who she was. "I only go by Jak because it's better than... Jakie."

"It's actually Jacqueline Blake, but I'd never admit that to another soul on the planet." Sadie furrowed her brow slightly at the odd comment. Jacqueline was as pretty a name as any, even if it didn't quite suite the brown haired woman. As the professor continued talking, Sadie's mind began to wander. Sure, the topic of her thoughts was still this woman, but more specifically, Sadie was curious as to her upbringing. Obviously as an English magical, she went to Hogwarts. Sadie wondered if she would have seen this girl somewhere on the grounds during her time there. Jak couldn't have been older than Sadie, not by more than a few years if that.
In the short moments it took Sadie to deduce all of this, Jak was speaking her final clues as to her identity. "...better than... Jakie." That was what Sadie needed.
As the name rolled from Jak's lips, Sadie's warm smile turned to sheer and utter disbelief. Her jaw dropped; her eyes widened and her entire face just oozed with "oh...great" sentiment. Even her posture seemed suprised by the news. As she stood there, slap jawed and slouching, Sadie realized time did curious things to a person. How could this exotic creature standing before her be none other than the little trollup quidditch whore?!
"Oh....my...god," Sadie said, her voice painfully slow. She stared hard at Jak. A woman Jakie was to wierd. The girl Jakie, as Sadie remembered her was always talking of quidditch and flirting shamelessly with anyone that moved. They weren't exactly the best of friends but even then, Sadie sort of admired her tom-boyish spirit---which in itself was why this woman 'jak' was an utter shock.
"You've...you've turned into a lady." Sadie let out a laugh. This was too much. The woman resumed her previous proper non-slouching posture and placed her hands on her thin hips.
"Run out of play in the ol' quidditch world?" Sadie raised an eyebrow, daring Jak to take that however she wanted. "Or just looking for a change?"

"Lady my ass," Jak began, rolling her eyes. She had no idea it would take the woman that long to figure out who she was. Sadie was so much like her, yet so much not, and she could've sworn they had the same mind. At least, she looked like she would screw as many guys in a night as she herself did. Truth be told, there were years in between their Hogwarts years, so she had no idea what the blonde had gone off and done, anyway.
"The only thing that changed," she continued, "was the pants." She stood, revealing her legs, barely covered by a bit of denim cloth, enough for her to fly in (since it didn't seem to bother the students, and she didn't need to go her top speed, anyway). Walking around the desk, the dark haired woman signaled that her guest may as well sit down, since she was starting a conversation anyway, and grabbed the rest of the files on the desk, flipped through them, and promptly tossed them in into the bottom drawer of her desk as she sat back into her comfy chair.
"I obviously have plenty of gas left if I'm willing to teach a gaggle of teenagers," she began, showing a smile with her scoff, something women rarely got to see from her. "I honestly can't remember what got me over here, anyway. Maybe I wanted to do something productive for once in my life?" She tilted her head to the left, trying to remember the fuzzy series of events that led her to America. The likelihood of her being drunk when she decided to pack it up and get on a plane was high, anyway. "Probably a letter. I blame the school for looking for a prestigious, shallow, attractive nymphomaniac drunkard to be their teacher." She snorted and ran her hand through one side of her hair.
"And you?" she began, politely. It was only right, since Sadie had asked about her life first, and she was a friend, so she felt obligated to be nice. "What makes you the school's bitch instead of something better?" she replied in like manner to Sadie's somewhat low blow at Jak herself.

Sadie sat down at Jak's request and crossed her legs underneath her. She placed her hands gingerly in her lap and stared at the woman in the same manor as a cat stares at a hampster in a glass box. Her eyes followed Jak, but her body remained stationary. When Jak inquired about Sadie's hiring, the girl tilted her head as if confused.
God bless her little soul. In some ways she was terribly clever and in others her naiivity was staggering. If Jak was attempting to insult; it was lost on Sadie. This moment was so paralleled with so many back in her days at hogwarts. Such a pretty girl, but never terribly clever. Sadie smiled at Jak and pondered her question carefully.
"I'm not really sure," she began ernestly. "The headmaster said something to the effect of...I'd pay if I didn't or something." She frowned. "I dunno."
It was obvious the girl was being as vague as she possibly could. She was actually just as confused about the whole thing as Jak seemed to be about her hiring. As far as coming to the states, well, that in itself was a whole nother matter. Honestly, Sadie doubted that Jak would want to hear about her ex boyfriend escapades or the stalking or threatening or any of that jazz. Aside from that, making a comment such as wouldn't be a very smart move if she really didn't want to be found. The girl's eyes widened with fear of the thought. What if he ever did find her? Oh my god. Sadie wondered what he would do and shuddered at the thought.
Turning her attention back to Jak, Sadie could feel the blush rise in her cheeks. She broke eye contact and let out a filler, "Uhm." Her thoughts turned then to the nasty run-in she had with that dark haired principal guy. "How do you feel about that Li character?" Sadie was curious and she scowled, "Quite the wanker, he is. Bloody big mouth."

Jak nodded, no particular expression on her face. It sounded like a pretty smart move for Sadie to make. She wasn't exactly the build to take up a threat like that, so having a menial job at a magic academy in the states seemed like the right thing to do, by comparison. However, her last statement, saying, "I dunno," made it much less convincing that her previously mentioned reason was the truth as to why she was there. She wouldn't pry, though. It wasn't like she really had a set reason for being at the school, either.
"You're asking me what I think of a guy?" she began, rather surprised. Sadie knew her better than that. In fact, Sadie should know that any guy she came into contact with in the day, she would be making contact with throughout the night. "To be honest," she said, filling space, since one of her previous comments had gone straight over the blonde's head before, "I don't see him too often, and don't really care to." She shrugged and lifted her legs up, resting her feet on the desk, one crossed on top of the other (pointed away from Sadie, of course, because otherwise, it wouldn't be ladylike).
The dark-haired woman took a look at her nails. Sometimes, there just wasn't a right time and place to have a conversation with a blast from the past, and one that wasn't exactly the best of friends. Jak's office wasn't the epitome of hospitality (unless she suddenly decided to bat for the other team with Sadie), nor was it exactly comfortable or attractive. She couldn't believe the next words she would say, yet at the same time, they were probably the only fitting ones for the situation.
"How's about we continue this conversation at the pub? I mean, bar?"

Sadie let out a disconcerted little "Hmmm." --only it was more like a high pitched squeal of confusion mixed with the slight yelping of suprise. Her brow furrowed and she tilted her head yet again.
A bar? Sadie Donovan in a bar? Well that was a thought Sadie hadn't visited, literally and figuratively, in almost nine months. Bars...eww. With the music and the people--Sadie's face melted into a smile at the remembrance of partying--the booze. She frowned again. The prospect of being surrounded by her biggest-ex-vice didn't seem like such a smashing idea. The girl inhaled deeply, content to tell her new found school mate that she was currently a firm believer that boozers are loosers. As Sadie's lips formed and her eyes widened to speak,
"Sure. That sounds like a smashing idea," were the words that floated out into the air. "Give us a chance to catch up."
Sadie smiled widely at Jak. It was an awkward sort of look; a grin that resembled that of a hyena, but with impeccable teeth. She let out a few strained chuckles and began running her fingers over her palms as she'd always done when trying to convinvce herself of something. Internally, the girl was squirming. How the bloody-hell does one, who firmly believes in clean living so avidly condone going to the place that houses ones worst past-time? It was pretty fun though, crazy boyfriend aside. Sure, she'd had some outta control nights, but who hadn't? It was settled-to the pub!...er bar, then. As the girl rose from her seat she smiled at Jak.
"I have a few more things to drop off before the office closes," the girl began. "But we could meet at four fifteen--maybe five." She nodded at the thought. "Give us both a chance to freshen up before we go out?"
Oh my god! Sadie's going to a bar tonight.

It was an awfully long time for somebody to mull over the idea of going to a bar. Sadie must have thought about it for at least a few minutes, enough time for Jak to pick off an annoying hangnail on her thumb, probably a result of stress from her new job. Then, the blonde gave her answer, convincing, like the bar seemed like a fabulous way to go. It was, after all, where the Quidditch Coach herself went every evening possible. She was careful to watch her drinking, though, because she needed to be somewhat sober and on her game in the morning to teach her students.
"Alright then, sounds settled," Jak began, in a somewhat hurried voice, lifting her legs off of the desk and setting them down on the ground with a "clunk." She set her hands on her now neglected broom, grabbing a cloth from her broomstick care kit and gently rubbed the silver where her name was engraved until it shined, and she was content. She looked up, and the blonde was still there, a bit to her dismay, since she had previously stated that she had something to do when she first came in. It may not seem important to somebody who was no Quidditch enthusiast, but to Jak, having a well-kept broom was important.
"Sounds fine," she added, after Sadie suggested when they should meet. It wasn't as if Jak needed to get all dressed up or anything. Her body was what got most of the guys, her clothes just accented that, and after getting a few drinks in her system, almost anything sounded good, even talking to somebody of her own gender. Her resolution was to be a bit nicer to her own sex after working here, anyway. Sadie would be an easier start than, say, any other girl on the planet. "And close the door behind you, doll," she finished, rather sarcastically.
