WELCOME
Welcome to NESM, the New England School of Magic. We are a modern-day, real time Potterverse RPG.

There was Harry Potter.

There was Hogwarts.

There was everything in “Wizarding Europe," but no one really tells the story about Wizarding America.

This is the story of one Wizarding school in America and the students and teachers within it’s doors.

The students of NESM ran from booth to booth, enjoying the Spring Festival with flourish. On this day, everyone seemed happy. It was a gorgeous day and there should be no reason to be depressed. They were all young and life was ahead of them. Summer was approaching. Freedom called to each of them and they couldn't wait to answer it. However, as Lance Drake sat at the Soccer Team's booth, he hardly felt joy. It had been almost two months now since Phoebe had left him (though they weren't technically together), but he found very little joy in his current job. The idea was one he had came up with long before he and Phoebe had first hooked up and now it seemed like the last thing he wanted to do.

Another girl walked up to him and paid him a dollar. He looked up at her, trying to fake happiness for her sake. They kisses on the lips briefly before she smiled and scampered off. Now he was exactly like his brother, selling himself for money. Of course, it was for the good of the soccer team and Lance was hardly enjoying himself. The kissing booth was a great financial idea, though his personal feelings for it had obviously waned. They were making much money, and his stack of bills and coins was larger than the one belonging to the girl sitting on the other end of the table. He should be happy with what he had, every girl there wanted him. He snorted at that thought. All but one.

He hadn't seen Phoebe or Jackson yet and hoped he wouldn't. If he could just avoid seeing either of them until school was over, he would never have to see them again. That's what was for the best. He turned to the next girl in line and nodded, painting a fake smile on his face and taking her money. The kiss was hollow, but that was ok.

It was sprinkg carnival time agan and Nikki was in a lovely state of mind. Her schooling was going well enough for her liking. She was pleased to be passing her classes and delighted that summer was so quickly approaching. School was so close to being over and she was absolutly delighted at the prospect of never having to attend another class again...ever. The thought of being an adult with all the freedoms she pretended to have now was mind-boggling. She couldn't wait for graduation and life ahead.

She wandered alone today, taking in the school as if with a new perspective. Life was vivid today. The students were bursting with life, the grass smelled as if freshly cut. Nikki could swear she could see it grow beneath her feet. She stared at her toes for a moment. The rope sandals she wore were scratchy against her skin. Threadbare and worn, they looked. Her eyes traveled over the ground to a booth on her right. A lazy smirk crept over her pale face at the recognition of a Kissing Booth. How terribly clever. Soccer players weren't known for being very smart, aparently.

Her grey eyes rested on the girl at the booth, kissing boys who stood in a line waiting for their turn. Moments passed and she looked to the boy. She could almost feel his aura in the air. It was grey. He seemed dull emotionally. Underneath his fake smile she wondered what was going on. Nikki recognized the boy, a fellow senior, Lance Drake. Her heavilly lidded eyes blinked and she made her way over to his line. The longer line. Nikki's floor lenght dress billowed about her as she waited. Nikki swayed, appreciating the silk against her skin. It covered her body almost in it's entirity. It was similar to a tunic, except it was full length and had an oversized brown snake-skin belt around her middle.

Nikki watched the exchange between Lance and the girl in front of her. She crossed an arm over her chest and smirked. Resting her other arm onto of it, she scratched her chin. As her turn neared, the blonde covered her smirk with her boney hand.

"Hey, Lance," she drawled lazily. She lifted her head, dropped her hand and looked up at the cute little sign above the booth. "Was this your idea?" She held out a dollar and smirked. "Mildly amusing." She paused and grinned, wondering if her words would be taken at face value. "Don't cha think."

Someone was talking. Lance was shaken out of his dream state by the conversation and by the slowing of his pattern. For several minutes, almost an hour it had been greeting, money, kiss, farewell. Now someone was changing the order. He looked up, glazed eyes looking on the offender. Not that he really cared. Well, it was Nikki, a fellow senior. He barely knew her, though he could recall a few things. Lance had always made it his duty to know everyone. She was commenting on the booth idea, asking if it was his idea. It had been actually, but when he was in a completely different state of mind. Now it was just stupid.

"Yeah it was my idea. Figured I should take advantage of what gifts I do have." Christ, that sounded bitter and he knew it. He had lost his gift of talking to everyone and saying the right thing. What was happening to him? Well, he knew what it was. Caleb knew as well. But Lance refused to accept it. He didn't love her. It was just some stupid physical connection.

He shifted his gaze around her, looking back at the line. Hadn't that redhead been through the line a couple times now? He arched an eyebrow and tried to remember, but it was all just a mosaic of femininity in his head. Oh well. He turned back to the girl at hand and shrugged at her inquiry to the sign. All he wanted was to get this all over with, go back to his room, and bury himself in a textbook.

"Yeah it was my idea. Figured I should take advantage of what gifts I do have."

Nikki raised an eyebrow and smirked.

"Clearly," she purred. Her expression resembled that of indifference. Meanwhile, her eyes feigned pity. She did feel sorry for him, almost. It bugged her when people were depressed. Life always seemed as though it could be much worse than it was. It didn't mean people needed to go swimming in the ocean of self pity. She smirked regardless and stared at the boy. He was just, so very there but so very far away. It was interesting to Nikki and slightly annoying at the same time. She really cared very little where his mind was at, but she would have liked a bit more attention than he was giving her. A sly idea crept into her mind and her eyes turned playful and determined.

She put her hand on his chin and traced his jaw lightly with her forefinger. Licking her lips slowly, she drew nearer to him. Nikki kept her eyes locked with his as their faces got closer to eachother. She let her lips part and she kissed him. It was the kiss of a lover; deep and unrequited. The blonde shide from using her tongue although the thought had occured to her. She held his kiss for a long time. Much longer than a Kissing Booth merrited.

As Nikki kissed the boy, she let her imagination go and concentrated on things she could do to him, all for the sake of getting his mind off certain said girl. She was no stranger to gossip and although she didn't know his background with any certainty--at NESM, rumors generally turned out to be true. Really, the poor kid just needed someone to get his mind off things. A girl that could bring out a fun loving side of him was exactly what the doctor ordered (or should have) and, it was during this kiss, that Nikki decided it would be cool if she was THAT girl. God knew she was fun; a whole hell lot of it compared to most of the childish stuffed shirts at the school. He just needed a little nurturing.

Nikki opened her eyes and smirked, her lips still on his. SHe pulled away painfully slowly biting down on his lower lip as she did. She tugged at it lightly with her teeth and looked him straight in the eye. Her expression was one that conveyed excitement for the future.

"So---like, some people are going to the Den tonight," She said slowly after a pregnant pause. "I'll be there." For work...her eyes left his for a moment and she blushed before returning eye contact and letting a sly grin overcome her lips. "If you wanna come," she paused. "Tha'd be cool."

She stood there, looking at him. Lance began to feel uncomfortable, like a mouse being held by a cat. Then he felt her hand on his face. He looked up at her and saw the look in her eyes. It wasn't the excited stares of the girls who were obsessed with him, or the nervous glances of those who were selling their first kisses for a dollar. No, this was the look of a girl that knew exactly what she could do to a guy. Their lips touched and he felt her lips part. Lance lost himself in the pure sensation of the embrace. It lated just long enough for his tastes and then it was over.

He was happy for just a moment. It felt so good to be kissed like that. In fact, that was exactly what he needed.

If she was Phoebe.

All that depression and gloom came rushing back as she spoke, making him remember why he had been miserable for the last two months.

"So---like, some people are going to the Den tonight, I'll be there. If you wanna come, Tha'd be cool."

She was asking him to go with her? Lance just sat there for a moment, not sure what to say. The last thing he wanted to do right now would be to go out with a girl that wasn't blonde, bouncy, obsessed with pokemon, and willing to give you the pants off her back. But he had to say this diplomatically. He had no problem with Nikki herself.

"That'll be a dollar." Smooth Lance.

A sly smirk crept onto Nikki's face when he asked for payment. She pointed her black bubble ring clad forefinger at the dollar she'd put on the booth counter just moment's before their kiss.

"Right there, Casinova."

Way to pay attention, bro. Well, obviously he was enratptured by her. If only for a fleeting moment, Nikki had acomplished what she'd set out to do; getting his mind off of things. Sure, they had come pooling back, but he had experienced a bit of fun and hell, the carnaval was supposed to be all about fun. Right? So right!

Nikki's eyes stayed distant, regardless that they still maintained contact with Lance. She waited for him to speak again. She had asked a question; one that he had attempted to go around. Well, he wasn't going to get away that easily. She liked answers and to get answers, questions were to be asked. Regardless, he didn't seem to want to talk anymore. Nikki shrugged indifferently and raised an eyebrow. Her gaze became filled with possiblities once more, widening slightly as they entrenched her mind.

"Alright," she began slowly. "Well, if you wanna get your mind off--" she paused, "stuff, you know where to go."

With that Nikki turned, smiling slyly to herself once her back was fully to the boy. She looked over her shoulder at him and smiled.

"See ya later, Lance." The girl held his gaze for a moment before blinking slowly and walking away. She was srutting a bit more than normal, relishing in the fact that he wouldn't be able to forget that kiss-or what it stood for: fun.

Nikki made him a final offer and then left, happily but teasingly. He watched her leave before waving forward the next girl. His money stack grew and grew, though his mood barely brightened. More than one girl tried to slip him the tongue and a few times he obliged with some of his own. But he but very little effort into it. He began to wonder if he was becoming what Caleb used to be. Is this what had happened to his brother so long ago? Did he love a girl and she broke his heart? Is that why he became an unfeeling bastard and was able to throw himself at girl after girl without feeling anything?

A redhead kissed him, one that seemed extremely familiar. He had kissed her about five times now. She was one of the more enthusiastic kissers. Her tongue entered his mouth and he teasingly responded. Was it this easy? Could he just do this? Hell, he could probably sleep with this girl if he wanted to. Maybe that's what he needed, just to sleep with someone else. Should he just offer it to this girl? Whisper it in her ear? Isn't that what Caleb would have done, pre-Jolie? The kiss was extended for a few seconds before he pulled away, a bashful blush on his cheeks. No, he couldn't do it. He wasn't Caleb.

He gave her a small grin and waited for her to turn her back before shaking his head. The next girl in line was also familiar. He had kissed her before too, rather, she had kissed him. At the Christmas Party at his house, she had kissed him when Phoebe wasn't there. She had said that she wanted him and that Phoebe wasn't satisfied with just him. That was when Phoebe had left him to go talk to Jackson at the party. Just like she had spent New Years Eve with him. The girl had teased him with the possiblities of the two of them. But Lance had been distracted then, thinking about the Jackson problem. They were just friends then. Now they were more and he was out in the cold. All of that jealousy, that paranoia inside of him that he had written off as over-reaction, was justified. That feeling that everyone knew but him might have been true.

But he had stepped back, not shown his jealous side. When she had said that New Years Eve was going to be with Jackson, that it was something special between them, he had consented without argument. They weren't dating after all. They were just friends. Friends that slept together and kissed. Friends who lost their virginity to one another.

He kissed the girl and accepted her dollar, ignoring her pathetic lines to pick him up and brooding in his thoughts until she left.

Oh, carnivals, carnivals. No matter what kind of person someone was, they just had to love carnivals. If someone didn't like a carnival, it was because they didn't get enough love as a child, or some other horrible situation had made them the sick, twisted person they were. This was the curse of our blonde heroine, her undying love of carnivals. Within a mile of carnival festivities, Codie was drawn in like a moth to a light. Unfourtunately, she had traipsed all about the carnival grounds and played almost every single game, and also weilded a plethora of oversized and cuddly stuffed animals in both arms. Sadly, Codie Taylor was infamous for not being on time, ninety percent of the time. Fifty percent of that was contributed to the fact that she just forgot things. Lately, however, Codie had gotten increasingly better about remembering where to be at what time and what was going on. A certain booth caught her eye as she made her way past aimlessly, distracted with what exactly it was that she was forgetting.

KISSING BOOTH.

The sign had bright, bold letters, and as Codie's eyes slowly lowered to the table, she saw the money that had almost endlessly went on, and then her glance shot up to the owner of all of the bills. Lance! Codie quickly scampered over, stuffed animals and all and climbed over the table, less than cat-like. She was probably the least graceful person in the world, and besides the soccer field, Codie was almost so clumsy that it was humiliating. She organized her small army of stuffed animals and little prizes around her, and then sat indian-style in the chair beside Lance. She would most likely not get any kisses, and if she did, it would be from young boys, or Lance had probably bribed someone to come, so her dignity wouldn't be completely shot down. Her head tilted slightly and watched, almost amused as a redhead seemed to nearly choke poor little - and by little, she really means about a foot taller than her - Lance, and Codie stifled a laugh, her tongue moving along the inside of her cheek.

She couldn't really blame the girl, though, in all honesty. Any girl in the world would kill to kiss Lance - a single dollar was a very small price to pay. Codie shifted in her seat to face towards Lance as the girl had finally made her way back from wherever it was she had first come from. Codie's mind raced, she wondered if it was too early to say something, if she could say the 'P' word just yet. (Phoebe, that is.) Finally, Codie worked up enough courage and her lips formed words, and without thinking, she blurted it out, "Hey, you're okay doing this, right? Since Ph- well, since you know. If you don't want to, I even made a Lance Drake mask, and they won't even know the difference!" Codie reached down in her bag and frantically searched for the mask she had made. Finally, Codie found it and showed it to him - it was simply a picture of Lance she had gotten printed out, cut it and then attached a rubber band on it, so it could fit around her head.

"Realistic, right?" Codie said, and offered a small smile to Lance, and she just hoped that she might get a smile in response; anything to prove to her that he wasn't still upset. She couldn't stand to see her friend so hurt. Codie set the mask down in the middle of them, to let him know that her offer still stood, and then stared up at the sky quietly, and watched the clouds; she picked out the shapes in the white mass as they moved by lazily in the warm sun. She couldn't help but keep her mind wandering to Caleb, who had recently had almost no connection with her whatsoever, because of his girlfriend that he hadn't even bothered to tell her about. "I don't care." Codie tried to remind herself, but found her thoughts slowly being twisted, and she knew that she did really care. Even if her and Caleb had no feelings for each other, she still would have liked to known, and felt somewhat betrayed, and very alone without one of her best friends.

Codie adjusted her loose, white tank top blouse, and then brushed off her dark, torn jeans, in hopes that maybe she might attract more 'customers' if she cleaned herself up a little bit. Kicking off her flip flops into the grass below her, she released a gentle sigh and rested her head on her arms upon the table.

Oh, carnivals.

Sean Wallace spent most of his time at the soccer team's booth, watching Lance twitch. He enjoyed watching the older boy uncomfortable, if only becazuse he couldn't stand him. He kept these feelings buried though, to the entire soccer team it appeared as if Sean didn't care about Lance one way or the other. Sean had worked hard to gain their trust and friendship and he wasn't going to sacrifice it over something stupid like this. So he just stod in the back and watched, seeing the misery on Lance's face. Sean smiled to himself and prepared to leave, having enough misery for one day, when Codie showed up and began cheering Lance up. No, this would not do. But how to do this without appearing mean to Lance? He thought hard on that and found his hand creeping into his pocket. He fingered the wad of cash in there and grinned, coming up with his plan.

Moments later he was walking up to the booth, a big smile on his face. He barely looked at Lance, keeping his eyes almost solely on Codie. He walked past Lance's line of admirers, reaching the desk and holding out a dollar. "I know I'm on the team, but I can contribute just like anyone else, right?" He grinned and put the dollar down and looked over at Codie's lips. He sincerely hoped Lance was watching. He leaned forward and pressed his lips against Codie's. The kiss was innocent at first, but Sean had no intention of leaving it as such. He pressed into it and opened his mouth slightly. His hand found the back of her neck and gently pulled her into the kiss before he broke off and stepped back. He winked at her and looked around, as if to point out that she had no other customers. Lance was glowering at him from a few feet over, but Sean didn't even look at him. Instead he reached into his pocket and pulled out another bill, this one a twenty.

"You don't seem to have any other customers, so can I buy a couple more from you?" He smiled coyly, looking down at the girl mischeivously.

Lance was sitting at the kissing booth, glad that Nikki was gone so he could wallow in his misery a bit more, alone. Nevermind the girls that walked up every once in a while, they didn't count. Even the ones that threw themselves at him and tried to turn the kiss into something much more. Thankfully he received support of a different kind in Codie. She was a member of the soccer team and one of Caleb's ex girlfriends. She was truly nice to him without trying to get into his pants like so many others. He appreciated that. She spoke to him, reassuring him and even making a joke. He looked over at the mask that she had made and found himself laughing.

"Thanks. I needed that." He wanted to keep talking but he looked up and saw Sean Wallace making his way over to them. His eyes slightly narrowed and he watched the boy walk over to Codie. Lance was silent as he listened to Sean's spiel, rolling his eyes as they kissed. This was ridiculous. He waved the next girl forwad and kissed her, taking the dollar and looked back over at the other two. They were still kissing. It was obnoxious, though he couldn't blame Codie. It wasn't like she had a boyfriend and Sean was giving her attention. He just despised Sean for making him watch it.

Then they got done kissing, finally. Lance hoped it was over, but then saw Sean digging in his wallet. He pulled out a twenty dollar bill and offered it to her, asking for more. Lance closed his eyes in frustration and turned away, not wanting to watch this. He just ignored them and waved the next girl forward.

The conversation with Lance had been cut off abruptly, as both of them seem to catch sight of Sean. Now, Codie wasn't all too sure what Lance had against him, but there always seemed to be some type of tension between those two that she just couldn't put her finger on. Sean was a forward with her, so Codie had gotten somewhat attached to him through the season -- who wouldn't want to get attached to him? (Besides maybe Lance.) He was Codie's first customer, considering that she had been late, and she wasn't about to let this one slip through her fingers, either. As his dollar was placed on the table, Codie flashed a smile before Sean soon had his lips against hers. The first kiss had slowly escalated just a bit, and Codie found herself about ready to just climb over the table to get to him, and then he broke it off. Oh, he was good. Codie was about to sit back and watch Lance and his small cult of drooling girls, when her eye caught onto Sean's wink.

Then, that twenty dollar bill was put into play.

Codie's eyebrow raised and bit her lip, almost confused as she glanced up at him, as if to ask if this were some kind of joke. Then, a small smile crept upon her lips, and she picked up the twenty dollar bill hesitantly, making sure it wasn't fake, first. "Well, helllooo, President Jackson." Codie murmured and put the money in her lonely - and almost pathetic - pile. All together, she had twenty-one dollars now. Codie sported a playful smirk and she stood up to go around the table and to sit on the edge of it, in front of Sean. "If you can't keep up, just let me know." Codie said, a grin broke across her face, almost challenging him. She glanced at his eyes and then her own eyes traveled back down to his lips, before she pulled him in closer and her lips began at the base of his neck and moved up in a series of smaller kisses, before she reached the corner of his mouth, teasing him.

Finally, her lips touched his bottom lip and she kissed it slowly, before her mouth pressed against his, separating both of their lips apart gently, her hands on the back of his neck. Codie could only think one thing, Pour utiliser ou ne pas utiliser la langue? or rather, To use or not to use the tongue? Hell, he paid twenty dollars, he's going to get every penny's worth. Her tongue slowly moved into Sean's mouth, and she mischievously urged it against his, putting the ball in his court now.

The two of them kissed for several moments, Sean enjoying the kiss as much as he enjoyed Lance’s misery. They finally separated, several moments later. Sean looked up and caught the jealous looks of several of the girls in Lance’s line. They certainly worshipped Lance as the hottest guy in school but he didn’t seem to care. And he certainly didn’t kiss any of them like Sean kissed Codie. He smirked at them as he tore himself off of Codie and considered his next step carefully. He could definitely see himself spending more time with her. She was cute and quite a bit of fun at the same time.

Plus nothing would piss Caleb off more.

So he grinned and stroked her hair, ignoring the looks from Lance.

“So, I was wondering. Do ye want ta go ta prom with me?” He grinned and ran a hand through his own hair. “That is, if ye donnae already have someone ta go with. We could meet there or sommat.” He grinned again and spoke to her teasingly.

“C’mon. Ye know ye want ta. Hell all of these girls want ta.” He gestured to the girls in Lance’s line. “And I pick ye.”

After her concert was over, Katerina drug Phoebe all around the rest of the festival. Of course Katerina didn’t have someone special to spend that time with and Phoebe’s was sick. So they could spend the day together, a girl’s day out. Kat bounced from place to place, sampling all the food. She even bought a small package of cookies from the Lacrosse team’s bake sale. She was criminally hungry, nothing seemed to fill her up today. She had a Powerbar before the festival, then a funnel cake and smoked turkey leg, and now she was burrowing her way through a half dozen white chocolate chip/macademia nut cookies. It as probably the party favor she had taken before heading out from her dorm room, she thought with a smirk.

Finally they made their way to the Soccer Team booth. Kat had been hearing about it all day and jst had to see it for herself. There he was, Lance Drake sitting behind the table and accepting money from girls in return for kisses. Codie and Sean were off to the side, making cute. Kat smirked and watched the patient young ladies stand in line, waiting for their turn. That wasn’t Kat’s style. She grinned and pulled out a dollar, walking to the front of the line and slapping it down on the table.

“You’re all mine Drake.” Lance looked up, surprised, as Kat leapt over the table and tackled him. She cackled happily as the chair he was on fell backwards and they crashed to the ground. She planted a huge kiss on his lips and mounted him fully. After a moment she climbed back up and straightened her clothes. Lance sat there, stunned. She laughed and started to walk away, calling back after her.

“Well worth it.” With that she made her way over to the other side of the table, standing right behind Sean. She sighed impatiently and held up another dollar, trying to shove Sean aside.

“Move it Wallace, the girl is trying to make some money and I’m buying.” Her eyes glinted and several of the girls in Lance’s line rolled their eyes. Maybe the substance in her body was making her too bold, but she didn’t particularly care.

“C’mon Codie. Cha-ching?”

It was nice to have someone to spend time with, so Phoebe spent the majority of hers fangirling around with Katerina, who kept up with the blondes boundless energy without any problems. Phee had just finished her third vanilla and chocolate swirl ice cream cone, and was feeling quite bloated, but not guilty in the least. Prom was two weeks away, and while other girls were watching their figures, Phoebe didn't even know if she was going or not. It meant a lot to her to go, but going without Jackson wouldn't be any fun, so she'd basically resigned to the fact that she was going to miss out. Oh well, he'd pay her back, she'd make sure of that.

Phee held her stomach a bit, deciding that she' had enough junk food for the day. If she ate anymore, she'd have to waddle back to her dorm room tonight. She pushed out her stomach playfully as she walked with Kat. "Yanno, I think they slipped a baby into my ice cream cone or something, seri- Kat?"

Phee watched, a bit bewildered, as Katerina made her way over to the booth with the longest line. Oh, the kissing booth. She saw Lance and smiled a bit. He was a good kisser, so at least the ladies were getting a lot for their money and time spent waiting in line. Still, Katerina didn't seem to keen on waiting in line.

“You’re all mine Drake.”

Phoebe watched, half in horror, half in amazement, as the red head jumped over the table like a gazelle and proceeded to knock Lance to the ground. For a second, Phoebe honestly wasn't sure if she was kissing him or trying to beat him up. Likely a mix of both. After a few seconds, Kat stood up, saying something back to Lance as she made her way over to the other booth. She couldn't really here, seeing as the girls in line were busy talking about what just happened in front of them. Not to mention they were peeved about her cutting in line. Not really caring either way, Phoebe rushed over to the booth, making sure Kat didn't kill Lance or anything.

"You okay?" she asked, helping him up. She grabbed his chair once he was on his feet and sat it right side up, laughing a bit. "I mean, it looked like a pretty steamy lip lock, but I wasn't quite sure if she'd knocked you out from hitting you off the ground or what." The blonde offered him an adorable smile. "But you seem fine. No blood or anything."

"Excuse me," the girl waiting next in line said, looking impatient. "I've kind of been waiting here for a while."

"I'm not cutting," Phoebe said, looking a bit baffled, but quickly recovered with a smile. "Just making sure Kat didn't damage the goods." She went to ruffle Lance's hair, when she noticed a little red spot on his forehead near his hair line. "Well...looks like she damaged them a little." Phee leaned over and kissed the boo-boo on Lance's forehead softly, then smiled down at him. "All better," she said, turning around to face the glaring girls behind her.

"God, all right then," she said, rolling her eyes at them. "Poor guy, chapping his lips for you ladies and none of you even move from the line to see if he's okay." She placed a dollar on the table and slid it over to Lance. "Technically I kissed you, even if it was cause you were wounded in the line of duty, so I guess I should pay up."

Phee straightened up and gave him another smile. "Take care of yourself Lance," she said softly. "Cause these girls behind me sure aren't going to." With that she spared him a wave before going off to make sure Kat didn't eat Codie's face off or something.

Luckily for Lance, several things happened at once. He was spared watching Codie and Sean make out anymore by the arrival of Kat. Of course, this in itself led to a few complications. Kat was in one of her ”moods”. Lance had seen it before, she just seemed to have far too much energy and didn’t really care who knew it. This time she responded by cutting in line playfully, declaring it was her turn, and then leaping over the table with all of the grace of a drunk ballerina. She landed in his lap and his chair tipped backwards, throwing him to the ground. She was on top of him and arranged herself in a mounted position before smirking and kissing him.

Lance couldn’t move after the kiss, so stunned was he. He thought to get up, but it didn’t seem that important. That is, until he heard an all too familiar voice.

”You ok?”

It was Phoebe. She was helping him up. He froze in terror, everything he had wanted to say to her the past months bubbling up but slamming into the top of his mouth and not going any further.

”"I mean, it looked like a pretty steamy lip lock, but I wasn't quite sure if she'd knocked you out from hitting you off the ground or what."

She smiled. He missed the smile. God he missed that smile. And her smell. He didn’t register her argument with the girl next in line, he only registered her smile and her smell, and her voice, and all of those other things that had haunted his dreams lately. Just say it Lance. Just do it.

Silence.

Her hand touched his hair and ruffled it and his eyes fluttered. All coherent thought escaped his mind. It was now a puddle-like mass of stupidity. It was a good thing he wasn’t talking. It would have come out as something stupid.

Then she kissed him.

Sure it was on the forehead and it was playful, but that didn’t matter. Only his pride kept him from keeling over and passing out on the ground. He was transported to a wonderful world where everything was happy. Ice cream mountains towered over his head and rivers of pure chocolate ran past him. The sun shone down and gave him a huge thumbs up. He smiled and finally spoke.

“So Phoebe . . .” She had already walked off and couldn’t hear him. He sighed and tried his best to compose himself. The girl who was complaining stepped forward but he waved her off for a moment, instead watching the spectacle next to him, specifically trying not to look at Phoebe too directly. When they had been seeing each other, he had told her about this, trying to ask her permission to do the kissing booth without actually asking. If he had to ask that would mean they were dating. And of course he didn’t want that, right? In his mind he rolled his eyes and sighed.
