Rate My Application?, For the lovely Ayye.

My application is far from done but can you please rate it on what is there? I want to add at least 5 more pictures, one more story, some adoptables and more stuff in my gallery but how does it look right now?

I would make the font waaayyyy more nicer. Right now it looks ick. The first part is funny, but I just don't think you should add the pictures for the faerie xweetock. Because I thought at first you were applying for the fareie xweetok!!!!!!!!!

ART. Fan art. Your art. Just art. I saw nothing of it. I hate the layout. Just a bunch a gray and default pictures of the pet. Change it to a table, or one big blog.

Hmm well I sort of like how you did the layout, except the blank white BG bothers me. Maybe get a beach or Pirate ship sene somehow?

In the about section, you mentioned n00bs a few times. That bothers me. It seems to me people only use the term n00b anymore to try and make themself look better/ more literate. I really think that its better if you took that out

The text bothers me alot o_o But that may just be me.

Do you have any art? Fanart? Anything?

Honestly I don't really think it is worthy of Ayye, seeing as Pirate is a really rare color and them being new and whatnot. I think you should really get some art, maybe make a custom lookup? I think it's good you have a story and a personality but I'm just big on art.

But I'm not Ayye's owner so it doesn't matter what I say, so don't get offended

I'm going to be drawing a picture (large) of Ayye and adding it above the Links section.

I'm going to change the font too I was meaning to change it but never got around to it.

I only have two pieces of art but I'm planning on having at least 5 more.



I took out the pictures of Tafq and I'm going to work on the font and everything like that. Thanks for the suggestions. I need to work on the pirate xweetok picture I want on the layout so I can add that and I'll change the background to a color.

Why is all the art on a seperate page? And why is all the art not by you/CaP/heavily referenced?

I don't see ANY mention of roleplay. I would never give anybody a pirate pet who doesn't roleplay.

I also hate how there are three separate blogs. One big blog will suffice. You also have a very plain layout. Neopets images pasted on blogs with white backgrounds is very boring.

Let's move onto the content.

I didn't read past the first two paragraphs. Try starting with a suspenseful story or something to keep the reader reading.

Alright, updates.

Font: Changed the size, color, style of the font and I like it. Any opinion on it?

Background: I made it a solid color but I'm not sure if I should change the color. I may draw something for the background. Any suggestions? I think it looks better than the white.

Picture: I added a picture to the layout. Not sure if anyone likes it but I do. xD I have two other pictures on a seperate page (link under 'links') What do you think? Positioning okay?

Layout: I sitll like the layout, so yeah. If others don't like it, I'm sorry

I agree but I love the way the pirate xweetoks look already and don't think they can get any better. I'll be thinking of a way to make them better.

I was quitting and I had good reasons for it. The person that adopted Inwardly, is named Vicki and her application was the best I saw although it isn't like all the other draik applications. I've seen a lot of applications but ones with the one blog are too popular and common. Make it unique and it is creative. My opinion. I rather not get Ayye and make an application that I feel is my best than get him because I went with mainstream application making. I've only seen a handful of two+ blog application and I like them.

1. Brand new pets on my main. I have drawn my royalgirl kougra before and my baby kougra.

Wouldn't you consider someone else drawing it for you, little effort? If my art is crap, oh well. I like it and I work hard on it. I'm a starting artist but I've got BC trophies for my pets and I know how to advertise. That is what I want to use the art for, the BC and to make his lookup and petpage look nice. There are great artist out there that let their pet rot with a fancy lookup.

I didn't say you're a bad artist but if you want a custom design and you need help you have plenty of sources. And why do you keep bringing up that great artists let their pets rot? =/ I'm only trying to help you here.

And what would that mean? Sorry to burst your bubble, but pixels can't die. And most of us are heartless people who throw our pets to get blasted by Snowy and keep them at Fleapit Motel to get their daily rations (if at all). We're still not considered bad owners.


Anyhow, I second the notion that you should have a custom design. And an amazing one at that. Xwees are extrodinarily popular at the moment, and the pirate Xwee is completely new (and is one of the most expensive colors there is!)

I'm also not a huge fan of the multiple blogs. I think it's just a waste of space. It makes it look like less, too. And at that, the way the blogs are made, they don't really even look that great. Inwardly's new owner had an awesome creative idea with the multiple blogs, and that's why it was impressive. However, your blogs are... very plain and it looks horrible with the text not filling out the whole blog and the scrollbars all over the place. If you want to stick with the basic multiple blog idea you have, you should redo them so that they're just plain blogs, and use floating images with the Xwee poses on top (so that the text moves behind the image). Stick to your idea if you wish, but make more out of it. And while we're on the issue of the pictures... I don't like it when people use default pictures and poses. That might cut it for some plain colored Xwee, but not for a pirate.

And it definitely needs art. On the application and not on some seperate pet page (and as already commented, your art does not look very original. Very CaP-ish/referenced). Draw your own art for the app itself, too. It doesn't have to be good. It just shows effort (and even more if it's not neo poses). Like in the family section, draw your own pics. And break up the text in the story a bit. Getting other people to help you out with art is neither shameful nor effortless. Even if your art isn't that great, try it on your own.

I haven't read all of your story yet, but the idea souinds nice. I'd change the overall layout of the app though, so that it starts with him, and not you. Telling the owner that you dislike n00bs and rap is not much of a beginning, and makes you sound a bit n00bish yourself. Leave that away. Write more; write what you really enjoy doing in real life, and why.

Also write more about his personality (and once he has it) his design. It always looks good. What you have is a nice start, but it could be more. And why not add a whole section about the petpet? About the petpet's character, etc.

The screenies are a bit pointless, I think. Most people don't really care about the HP or food status, and anyone could have brushed their pets up nicely for a screenie. It would show more commitemnt if you actually added the pets there to you family section. And I don't see the point of the bank screenie either. It doesn't show you're rich or anything. Put the recommendations on the main app, too. It's just an unnecessary extra link.

Overall, I have the feeling that you're using the links section and the multiple blogs to make it look like more. But it really isn't that much. You need much more content if you really want to adopt Ayye. It's a nice start, but it needs more.

The application looks great to me.
I second the notion that people can have great art, be great at roleplaying and still be a horrible owner.
My definition of a horrible owner is..A neopian that only cares about their pets for the looks..or they don't work at it to get their pet that 'supposedly' means a lot to them.
Numbfant does not display those characteristics.
So, is everyone agreeing that if you don't have the talent of drawing..you aren't a good owner?
I could never draw as good as numbfant even if I tried for years, but that doesn't mean that I don't care for my pets..I care for my pets, even if they are pixels.
I don't care for role-play because I think it's a waste of time, and I'd rather give my pet a personality, or write a story.

There are not necessarily the correct things to do with a neopet. People have different expectations, and it doesn't all revolve around art and roleplay.
I personally think your art is great^^
And its your decision to do roleplay or not.
I could see if the owner of Ayye was for roleplay and wanted Ayye to be a part of it, then you would take it up or consider it.

What I'm trying to point out, is even though this is a suggestion forum. And this is the correct use. Putting people down, is not the definition of rating.

Now..to correctly rate your work! Even though I believe you have already sent it in.
I find your layout very impressive, and I believe that extra links is a positive thing, it shows that you've worked even above and beyond what most would do.
And shown in the posts above this, they've said it looks like you're trying to make it look like more, but a crowded page is not a happy page
Same with stories, if you take the time to write a good story, it shows that you will care for your pet, and that you believe in caring for them even if they are pixels.
The font change was good, even though I did not see it before, I love the font =)

This topic boggles my mind because I own Tafq and Ayye now. xD I was reading this wondering if I posted this in 2007, but I realized I did a neomail application for Ayye and that I was pretty sure I didn't own Tafq in 2007. o.o But wow, this really made me giggle. Small world I guess. xD

Regardless of how amusing it is (and I can relate to how amusing it is), please do not post in a thread that has not been posted in for a few months-- let alone a few years. That would be "necroing" a thread, or bringing a dead one back to life.
