What Has Happened To This Site?

Not sure which board this would go under.
Anyways, I took a year's hiatus, and I come back, and Neopound is like, completely dead!
Did anything in specific happen, or are people just no longer coming?
I used to love this place, but many boards haven't been posted on in months!

People just stopped coming because applications pretty much died on the PC. :(

Most adoptions are masked sales, now. Because of that, users are skeptical about UFA pets and therefore don't apply.

The ones who still posted things never got responses, so... they stopped posting things too.

pet sales have been going on in the background for years. I've seen screen caps of them being sold on popular auction sites. Unfortunately, most all out appliers got shot down by so many masked sales pets and fosters/owners that decided to take pets down, that they stopped doing that which made this forum thrive: full petpage applications. So pretty much it is the lingering community that was here before with a couple newcomers where it used to be many new comers and several lingering souls.

I think we should use it to make our current pets thrive. I would lead by example, but I have so much going on right now.

Woww...i never knew the sales thing was true...because i saw someone talking about real $$ prices for Uc pets and was like WHAT? xD

I just picked a term that seemed appropriate, and UFA pets are mostly masked sales, are they not? Some fairly poorly, others pretty well...

I hear that the process with Lyme was illegit, but I have nothing to prove it with. Lots of quick adoption pets are... like that.

And I'm game for using this forum for our personal characters. I have a private forum for myself, but I could always use the feedback. :>

A lot of the old regulars from Neopound go to a different forum now.

Most of the people who used to be regulars on this site had quit Neopets a long time ago, and since we were all being off-topic we moved off the forum. We haven't gotten any new members because the application scene is pretty dead; trading has kind of ruined fostering and nobody really does apps any more, at least not the way they used to, making this site pretty useless :C

a lot of the remaining activity came from members who did not apply anymore, they just clung around here to chat
some mods that are never around came back and told us we were obnoxious and if we left neopound would move on with new members
so we made our own forum and.... we see what happened to neopound....

but yeah, application scene is dead, it only made it as long as it did because some members kept clinging to it but they've moved on

Was gone all day yesterday and came back to six different subforums with new posts.

I think big apps are still fairly popular but now the place where everyone chats is on the App chats on the Pound Chat boards on neopets. You see them pretty often. Also, a lot of people who use to apply a good bit are starting to get old or have most of the pets they want. Also, many of them have joined guilds and stick together there.

Also, most apps were for draiks, and since draik egg prices have gone down a good bit people dont apply for them as much any more. Its actually pretty easy to get one. As for the UC pets, many are traded, some sold, but I have been a data base sweeper for a while and can honestly say many UC pets are adopted out fairly. At least the ones I have seen posted on neopound.

But, honestly, I dont really know how we can revive this place. I think its a great place to post pets that are UFA and such like that, but other than that I hardly really come to the forums. I use to sit on the forum boards all the time, but now it just seems silly since I can get my app rated quickly on the neopet boards.

But if you have any ideas on how we can bring this place back to life I am all ears. I miss it.^^

Ugh yeah, I was googling UC pets out of curiosity and saw some people selling them for up to 800 dollars. A UC Faerie Draik was 825. That's ridiculous! They had some pretty rare ucs and were selling them for triple digits, which pretty much eliminates a lot of UCs that could've been adopted out or even traded.

There were regular pets for sale too, but I didn't look at those.

wait for reals? i thought ucs were going for like $300 or so, dang

i really do not understand who is buying them... like i can totally understand selling a pet, because who doesnt want money, but who is so desperate for a neopet that they will pay hundreds on the black market for one, especially since theres a huge risk of getting frozen

Yeah, most of the forum regulars have quit (or semi-quit like me) Neopets and moved on. Some members just kind of stopped going on the forums. Some are even coming back!

I'm personally not posting that often because I'm not really an active member of Neopets anymore, not since my old account was frozen and Neopets started to get really serious about censorship and nearly banning petpage applications. I've moved on to other websites, like Leopets and Subeta, where the staff aren't quite as paranoid or crazy and the members tend to be more mature.

The idea that someone would pay in the hundreds or thousands for a bunch of pixels is kind of ridiculous. 8I Geez, people, go donate or buy food for yourselves or something, don't waste it on a virtual pet. The money doesn't even go to Neopets to help keep the site afloat.

wow, really? Last one I saw confirmed was an UC Dari draik going for 200 USD. That was years ago. I was shocked that such a thing was going on. Some people are just really stupid. It is kinda like something buying some ridiculously priced nicknack thing that took a long time to make, however has no real purpose and it itself is sorta ugly. You wouldn't think such people exist, but there are.
