Neopound On-neo Uc & Name Page, Adoption and Trade

This is going to be Neopound's new UC and Name Adoption and Trade Database... or something like that. You guys get to let me know what you want it to be. =D


That's what I have for now. I set up the adoption aspect of it, and listed some pets from the main database already, and I'm working on deciding how I want to do the trading database.

One option is that I could set up a relatively easy to manage system where anyone could list their pets and all pet listings from non-Neopound forum/guild members will be automatically deleted after two weeks or something. For active forum members, I could leave their listing up so long as they keep their trade topic up to date. And I would work something out for guild members.

Another is that I could only allow Neopound members to list UFT pets. The reason for this is kind of twofold. First, my page layout isn't set up to easily show a huge volume of pets. Allowing only Neopound member listings would work better for the layout style, I think.
And I think it would put more of a premium on being an active forum/guild member, because it's an extra on-site benefit.

If I did members only I might be more lax with what can be listed too. (VWN painted pets included too or something, instead of RW/RN only for the trading section)

The reason for possibly limiting it to names only rather than names and UCs is that the main focus of the page was actually intended to be a place where VWN basics could be listed on NeoPound and be a resource for people looking to adopt (and maybe trade for) VWN pets and such. Plus, all UCs can be listed on the main database anyway. And UCs even how their own section there.

Hm... My poll is kind of fail. The plan was to restrict names to RW/RN for trading listings, whether we were doing UCs or not.
Also, I intentionally didn't include an option of whether the trade thing would be for Neopound members only or everyone, since that is something I'll probably be deciding for myself based on what I think would be manageable. However, like I said, if trading was Neopound members only, I'd probably allow more pets than just RW/RN and UCs for the trading section. The only reason for that limitation was that I was concerned about the volume of pets that would be listed UFT.
If you want to add your opinion about the Neopound only vs public trade issue, you can post, though. I'd be happy to take your opinions into consideration.

I'm undecided on the poll at the moment so here's my (useless) opinions instead:

The UC UFA section is somewhat unnecessary since they do have their own sections on the neopound database. However, some people might appreciate it since they won't have to go offsite to see what UCs are UFA. And it's not as if there's a lot of UCs UFA anyway so I guess I'm for it? Super undecided though.

...and I don't know if I want Neopound to expand to trading.
If you do decide to include UFT pets though, I would probably go for the Names and UCs option since there's already a tradelist for UFT RW/RNs (/~Oolong)

So um yeah... I'm not very helpful with this one.
It looks great so far though and I can't wait to see it up and running.

i really hope neopound continues to stay adoption only

there are already a million and one trading database and trading is already such a big thing. all these have like a ten to one ration of pets uft as compared to ufa

i really like neopound for adoptions, if trading was allowed it would take over the agency just cuz most people trade now a days

I'm thinkin' if I ever code a trading section (if I ever code a new Neopound... there's so much to learn), I'll make it so UFT pets are deleted after a week of being listed to keep it clean. :B People will have to "renew" their listing if they want the pet to show up again for another week.

I agree with the UC section not really being necessary, but I thought it might be a nice bonus purpose of the page... for the reasons you stated.

Oolong's page does seem to cover it already. I knew there had to be a page for that somewhere. However, there are also UC Trade and Adoption databases...

That's another reason I was thinking perhaps for active NeoPound members only. There are already pages available for the Neopian public. And if it becomes an issue that we're excluding the public for our trading database, I could make an effort to affiliate with pages like those and redirect people to them.

Another good point. Would you be opposed to the member-only trading section, as well? I was concerned about whether trading was something that the Neopound community would be interested in including. I mean, we already have a trading board here on the forum, so this might just serve as a more public way to advertise trade listings for Neopound members, if nothing else.

So... judging by the poll, some people want the page to be adoption only. I'd be happy to stick with that if only for the sake of NeoPound being an adoption database.
I think I'm going to go with that for now, just because I'd like to get this page up and running.
