Pfff yes so addicted, my boyfriend and I have collectively logged about 190 hours now (thanks Steam, I needed to know that...)
Mine is a Redguard, one heckuva hot lady :V I'm a member of the Imperials (both sides are awful, it was hard to choose which jerks to join :C I still kill all of the Thalmor I see anyway)
I married Jenassa! She's a dark elf you can hire in Whiterun for about 500 gold. At the time I was afraid to go out and about with Lydia so I just hired Jenassa to see how the whole companion thing worked, and if she died, oh well, she seemed like kind of a jerk anyway, no biggie.
One day I decided I was ready to kill a giant. (I wasn't.) A mammoth was nearby and I knew they link, but I thought they were far enough from each other - they weren't. Both came charging after me. Jenassa was brought to her knees in record time, and both gunned for me, so I BOOKED IT OUTTA THERE SCREW THAT THEY'LL EAT ME ALIVE IN ONE HIT AAAHHH
Then... the dragon came. All three of them were on me for what felt like FOREVER, they never wanted to fight each other, I was running in circles whittling each of them down slowly
Eventually the dragon and mammoth finally duke it out, I'm shooting arrows, both die, the giant comes up and I shoot him and he dies too and I'm like YES I LIVED. I had like a speck of life left but I want my spoils.
I go to loot the dragon, the giant is right next to it. I didn't realize that it wasn't actually dead -- just wounded, down on its knee. It stands up and raises its club and I am FROZEN in fear, flabbergasted, I am so dead oh god --
Then, all of a sudden, the giant goes up in flames. It falls to the ground, actually dead. Jenassa is standing there, behind it, staff of flames in hand. I am SHAKING.
I whip out my Amulet of Mara and propose on the spot. Within five minutes we were married. ♥
And that's... the story you didn't ask for of why I married Jenassa (I had a hard time finding a suitable husband anyway).
Long story short MAN I LOVE THIS GAME.

| QUOTE (Dodoro @ Dec 2 2011, 05:31 PM) | I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS GAME.
Tell me more about it.
not that I need more to distract me anyway |
Dorothy obviously does not talk to anyone I know. xD (In RL and online. I can't escape it no matter where I go. xD)
All I've heard about for the past few weeks is Skyrim this, Skyrim that. Everyone I know who plays video games is all over the game. Makes me want to get it but I'm too lazy. Plus, my brother got a new TV for his room and decided to (temporarily, maybe?) relocate his xbox there. Not going in there to play a game that I wouldn't even care about except that everyone keeps talking about it.

I know right? Everyone I know is talking about Skyrim. I feel like I'm missing out on something here! I'm too lazy to play video games. Half of them makes me feel dizzy after a while anyway.
But I am so tempted to try it just because everyone won't shut up about it!

Skyrim is really awesome... if you're into:
1. Open, gorgeous worlds that you can explore to your heart's content. Self-explanatory. I spend a lot of my time just exploring because it's something I love to do (*cough* Minecraft *cough*). The world is beautiful, and sometimes you run into a dragon who was just flyin' by and now he wants to eat you for lunch. So you can kill him, or run and hide until he leaves, and then continue on your merry way, trying to scale a 90-degree mountain cliff on your horse... and succeeding.
2. Not defined by your job/class (mage, warrior, etc.) In previous Elder Scrolls games (and other RPGs), you were limited by your class -- like if you were a thief-y class, you'd get skill trees that leveled your sneaking abilities, daggers, stealth, stuff like that. In Skyrim? Let's say you want to level stealth. You don't have to use daggers. You can be a sneaky mage, or you can sneak around with a giant two-handed sword, or just use a bow and arrows, etc. etc.
Essentially, all classes "bleed" into each other and you can do whatever you want with this system!
3. Making choices during quests. At one point I was captured by the leader of the Dark Brotherhood. She told me that if I wanted to get out alive, I had to kill one of her three captives -- and, bonus, I'd get to be part of her skeevy clan. Two of them deserved it, but the woman who captured me was easily the worst of them all, so I turned around and killed her instead. Afterwards, I still killed the two other guys who deserved it (I use "deserve" loosely here -- this is still video game logic; most of the time, someone either lives or dies, no jail-time, so if they're a bad person, I want them dead), and I freed the third captive, who was just a woman raising six kids on her own and therefore pretty crabby and impatient. She was no murderer.
There you go! Some of my favorite things about Skyrim!
What do you mean you didn't ask for that info either?? Oh man I'm bad at this. W-well -- I know what it's like to be bombarded by friends who are like "(X GAME) IS SO AWESOME YEEAHH" and not really say why, and I'm just kinda left like "uh.. okay.. maybe I'll.. try that sometime???"

Wow... that's just... creepy..... really super creepy. But I, ah, I knew a guy kind of like that once. It's really sad from the outside. ._.;
A lot of people seem to really enjoy playing Argonian! (They're the lizard-people race, FYI, onlookers)
My first play through of anything, I just need to be a good lookin' lady. Just how it is. I think I'd like to try K.. Kah'jiit... Augh it has actually been so long since I've played that I forgot how to spell it. BLASPHEMY. Cat-people.
Speaking of being a hot lady -- another thing I love about Skyrim is the armor. You know how in every video game ever ladies get nothing in the way of armor?? In Skyrim, armor covers a lady's body completely, as it should. And, surprise, you still look like a lady! Shocking, I know. All armor looks exactly the same between men and women, except shaped for the body of the person wearing it. So your Dragon Scale armor doesn't magically form a skimpy skirt when you put it on your lady-character.
It is sad that this is such a big deal to me :C Oh video games, you rascally sexist so-and-so
