Eh, I guess this merits a board all its own. x)
I've been drawing comics for one of the two (competing) campus newspapers,
The Daily Cardinal. I only joined the team last April, but early this fall, Amy, one of the current Graphics Editors, asked if I'd like to take her place.
Well, last night was the election. It wasn't particularly special because there were two co-graphics editor positions and we sort of had to beg one of the other comic artists to run as well, but we were questioned before a panel of judges and then shoved into a very scary room while they put it to a vote. Lo and behold, both of us were elected. Wooo!
The best part though: Amy had (unfortunately) scratched her cornea and had to wear a legit eye patch--with her glasses on top. And apparently it used to be an old tradition for graphics editors to be knighted, so she got some ridiculously huge sword from the graphics closet. They have no idea where the heck it came from or whose it was, but apparently there's a giant pink hair brush and a twin towers cardboard costume in there (Idk what's up with the Towers costume). But yeah. It sounds like something out of awkward city but some people from Photo were there taking pictures and it was just hilarious, especially because Amy was trying really hard to see through one good eye and not stab me to death with the pointy end of the sword.
Tonight is the last publishing night for the semester so we're all going to go to the office, get drunk off champagne, and go watch the paper get printed somewhere on the southeast side. x) And then apparently they like to go to Perkins or IHop but I have an exam tuesday night and a lecture tuesday morning at 11 so I don't know if I'll be partaking. d: But I will be there for the secret santa exchange. Best gift ever: MAGIC ROCKS.
