Guild Activities!, What are your opinions so far?

Skye asked me to post this here, so I'm doing so. ^^
Though I'm not quite sure why she doesn't do it herself! This is all of her work, after all. <3

Anyway, we need your opinions on the guild activities so far! The guild is rather dead, and some guild members would like to revive it to boost Neopound activity onsite.

My personal opinion is to not have these because some people don't care as much about avatar collecting as others, and we're more of a PC-oriented guild than an AC one.

I tried doing avatar simon on the PC once.



It wasn't a good idea.


Everything else looks fine though. ^^
We could also have points awarded to users who draw, code, or write guides for the site. :3

I had all of them except one (out of five), if I remember correctly.
But a lot of people didn't have most of them and you were all, "Wah! I tried to pick easier ones, too!" xP

In any case, I agree. If we do have avatar-related rewards, it should be minimal.

I think points give for draw/coding/writing guides for the site should be a decent amount. What about 5-10 points?

Member Directory
I'm thinking something around 50-100 words? Nothing too long that people will tune out while reading :)
I think each user should just decide on what they want to write in the directory themselves? It should just be based on whatever they want to share really xD
As for posts, either 50 or 100 perhaps?

Comps
Better than you looks good. Scores should be hard but not too difficult that it's impossible. So for Kass Basher, something that would be doable without getting the tree branch for example but not so easy that everyone will be able to get in one go

Also, instead of having the first person who beats the score, maybe we could go by how much someone beats the score by? That way people in other time zones won't be disadvantaged.

I think a default amount of points for all comps might be good? Less complicated too xD Unless it's something like design a mascot or those types of things?

I'm with Dorothy with the kad and ava trophies thing.
Maybe we could have points for coming up with new comps and running them. Additionally, there could be points targeted at certain types of people? So like for fosterers, they might be able to earn a point for each pet they adopt out, artists - each BC trophy they earn or points for helping others with their apps or something?
Something that will push people to do things for themselves in a way?

And I'm not really one for drawing so I'm afraid I can't help out with that.
If we start doing some sort of fan writing thing for others though, I'll jump on to do that

5-10 sounds good for art and stuff. :3
For users who do adoptables, though, I think they should get 5 for doing a template and then another 5 for finishing the entire set - that way, people won't take advantage of the generous point giveaway for art because they're basically recoloring 26 colors and adding minor edits to the rest.


I like the idea of having a set time frame for BTY, too. It gives it a more competition-y feel, and I like that people with different time zones won't feel at a disadvantage either. :3

@ Fate - That's a good idea for the Member Directory. I'd still like people to pick out their favourite 50x50 item or avatar though, so I can align the text with them. I'll make the word limit 100.

I hadn't considered that for the scores, but now that both you and Dorothy have raised it, it sounds great! /hand't even considered time zones orz;;
SO what about a scoring system like this:
- 5 points if you get the same or beat the BTY guild high-score.
- 1 point for participation.

I agree about having points for forsters, artists, ect.
Fosters - 1 point per pet adopted out
BC - 3 points for gold, 2 points for silver, 1 point for bronze. Opinions?

@ Dorothy - did you still want to draw trophies? C: As well as (art) prizes, we can hand out cute little trophies for users to keep.
And yes, that sounds like a great idea! I'm assuming these adopts will be used for the main site and not just petpages in general?

They'll be posted on the main site, yes, and if Hearty (or someone?) wants to host them on a petpage, we can do that too. ^^

Oh, and I won the lookup spotlight, and three people have already joined the guild, so I'm guessing over the next week, we'll get a few more members, give or take a few who'll leave. :V

If you could make trophies, that'd be awesome Dorothy!! What are you thinking of? Gold, Silver and Bronze? What about a Participation trophy?

Also, I love the comps, with the reward system, and the trophies. :D That would be so much fun to compete in!

Unless some other people volunteer to art, the trophies will have to be the only prize~

Uhh did you want more game ideas? These were just randomly popped into my head:

popcorn art game:
-objective is to add on from the previous person's drawing
-any number of people can play
example:
Member A draws a sketch of a lion
Member B then takes sketch and then colors it pink
Member C then takes the pink lion and then makes it purple
Member D then takes the pink lion and changes it to a pink giraffe
& so on, & so on.

There would have to be restrictions such as, you can't completely draw over the previous drawing (no auto fills), you can add a background, you can change the color, at least half of the picture should remain intact, etc. (you can make your own rules) People should also be encouraged NOT to simply draw a smiley face or a dot and instead, make a noticeable amount of change in order to contribute.

Since that activity is art heavy you can maybe also do a running popcorn writing game.
Member A writes a 100 word story.
Member B continues the story.
Member C, etc.
And you can make rules like, changing characters is allowed, changing environment is allowed, but limit it to blah blah, or add in real neopound member names, etc.

& then at the end of the month, week, or day you compile the art piece or story for everyone to look at to compare and/or read the nonsense... just for fun. I don't think there'd be much of a prize though. ;x

Otherwise.... COOL. I thought we already had a neopound guild, but I don't remember if it was active or not. I remember Owl was a part of it, I think... o.o;

First and foremost, I am willing to sign myself up as an artist for the reward system. My DA is in my siggy, and I've also got my art page on neopets: [link] However occasionally depending on school I can have periods of super business. xD

Regarding the competitions, I really like the ideas we have going at the moment, they would be super fun to take part in!

I also think there should be competions / or workshops run that regard to more of the creative aspects of the site. Since applying for pets, after all, is mainly creative work that regards to pet characters, art and stories, etc etc. So we could have a monthly writing / art / something character related competition or something like that which also awards using the same reward system with the points. C: It would also help to motivate people to work on their applications and or current pets and their petpages, which would bring people forward in the applying process.

Perhaps we could also have a rewarding system for critiquing applications? Like, when people give a thorough critique of an app, they could receive points for each critique. This would give people more help with their applications etc and get people motivated to help each other. Perhaps maybe points could also help with guild rankings since people could get competitive with their rank?

If you need any help writing anything up etc give me a shout and I'd be willing to help! :)

Update, 30th August: I've fixed the coding so that it is compatible in both IE and FF. I'll check other browsers tomorrow. I have also added banners for the guild activities. I will be contacting the guild council members this week about filling out 'meet the council' and 'member directory' submissions.

I'm hoping to have everything polished off by this week at latest. C:

The 'activities' section of the Guild Page has been removed due to a lack of interest. The page still contains history about the Neopound Guild, the rules and ranks, frequently asked questions and some links that may be helpful in making an application.

I hope the removal of the activities is okay with everyone. c:
