As I mentioned before, I've recently been doing some plot rework and cleanup, and part of that overhaul is getting rid of a few of my less-coherent species and making all those characters into actual full human beings. Specifically the characters that are getting turned human are Gravjit, Onyx, and Zrvx (and a couple other unimportant ones that I've never actually mentioned anywhere)
Now, Zrvx's new design incorporates enough elements from his furry self that it's practically the same thing, and I absolutely hate Onyx's old design so i don't miss it at all. But with Gravjit, I have a dilemma. I legitimately like his ridiculous neon pink and blue fuzzy self. His character has evolved to the point where it /really/ doesn't fit with his personality and whatnot, so I don't want to keep it as his appearance. But I still like it :C That's the only reason why I even kept it this long. I think it's pretty (even though it is kind of a sparkle-hyenefoxratthing).
So. My problem is this. I want to keep it. But what do I do with it?
I could keep it as some sort of very non-canon representation of grav but like I said before, it really makes no sense as him, it is not at all reflective of his personality (I mean, it's rather, uh, flamboyant, for one thing) and the only reason I'd keep it as him is because it WAS him for so long.
Alternately, I could try to make it into a new character. I have done this before (Amiretas' physical design began as one of the earliest forms of Onyx) but it's.. kind of incredibly confusing? Not to mention I don't have too much room in my plots for random technicolor animals that are taxonomically confused.
By the way, I'm mostly talking about the quad design which is fairly generic... human!Grav looks rather like anthro!Grav but minus all the fur and sparkles and whatnot obviously
I dunno, thoughts would be nice plz.

I have to agree about the whole, appearence not neccisarily matching personality thing. Heck, the contradiction could be rather fun to play about with.

Crazy cult from years past which involved extensive body painting as a way of sticking it to the man? Yeah, that's all I've got XD Either that or some freak mutant pet that follows him around. But maybe you don't really need to do anything with it at all. If you like it and want to draw it some day just for fun then, hey, why not I draw pictures of random dragons using balloons to float all the time, but I've never felt a need to make a balloon dragon character.
