It was a quiet day at work for Wesley, perhaps unnervingly so. To be honest, he was not quite certain what was happening as of late. He was expecting his days to be true hell after his mishap with the hunters that Stephen brought along for research but it appeared that, other than the severe punishment he received on spot from the CEO, nothing more was in store for him. This seemed... well, it seemed too good to be true. Wesley had worked long enough for Wolfram and Hart to know that when someone stepped on their metaphorical toes, they were in for something really bad happening to them and, as painful as the punishment had been, the ghost of a man thought that it was not even half of what he could be put through in order to be thought a lesson. What were they preparing for him? Most of all: how long before they delivered the blow?
His blue gaze became absent as his eyes took in the scenery in front of the window of his office at Wolfram and Hart. Once again, Wesley got completely absorbed in this little gesture, his mind wandering with great speed over various thoughts and scenarios. The sound of his office phone ringing brought him out of his musings and Wesley walked over to the display which allowed him to control the device, holding his finger over the button which allowed him to answer the call. A man spoke – well, Wesley assumed that it was a man because it sounded like one – and he introduced himself as the chief of the security department. Intrigued, Wesley listened to him explain that the Senior Partners wanted Wesley to go to the ground area and deal with a woman which had intruded on the premises. Without much explanation, the other man hung up, a picture of the woman (captured by the security camera) appearing on Wesley's screen.
The request made little sense to Wesley. Last time he checked, he was still a member of the Research department of the firm, not of the security one. Most importantly, given his condition, he could do practically nothing about an intruder. It was not as if he could grab them by the hand and throw them out of the firm and his appearance was the least intimidating one, unless someone had a bad case of a nerd phobia. Deciding to stop trying to make sense of the Senior Partner's requests, Wesley teleported himself to ground level, his gaze searching for the young woman as soon as he was there. As soon as he spotted her, Wesley walked towards her and blocked her path. ”Excuse me, Miss. May I help you?”
