FIANNA SIGRUN ÅKERFELDT Supernatural | Hunter | 31 | Heterosexual | Played By: Kristen Bell
soundtrack to this stagnant life MEANING LOST IN TRANSLATION
WHO? : Fianna. Fi (Only one person ever got to call her that, and he's dead now, thank you.) Sigrun. Siri. (In all cases save "Fianna" only family/those particularly close get to call her these)
WHAT? : Hunter - Fianna never has known another job, save for a few years working as a bartender with her former fiancé.
this could be my great awakening BUT HOW WOULD I KNOW?
PICTURE PERFECT : Fianna is far from what one would call intimidating - she's short, forced to look up to most of the people she meets on a daily basis, petite in appearance as well. At first glance, she's often mistaken for little more than a pretty little blonde. In reality she's well muscled, most of it toned rather than bulked, and she tends to work out quite often. She has her share of scars, a mix of childhood carelessness and risks of the job. They aren't things she talks about, mostly because she doesn't see a reason to talk on them.
Her style is simplistic. Clothing that's functional, easy to move in and easy to clean tend to be the order of the day, and you're lucky to find more than one pair of heels in her closet. She's not the kind of woman who keeps up with fashion, generally as long as it doesn't have holes in it, it's considered good in Fianna's books.
Her body language is closed off, distant. She doesn't like people getting close, and she rarely smiles. That said, she's the type to carry herself with confidence. Her back is straight, her shoulders back, and the very slight sway in her hips comes from natural feminine movement rather than any attempt to draw attention. Fianna moves with an easy sort of grace - she's a hunter and moves like one, the fluid grace added to by years of martial arts.
EYE COLOR : Blue HEIGHT : 5'5" WEIGHT/BODY TYPE : Athletic/130
it's all noise to me ARE THESE WORDS FALLING ON DEAF EARS?
POWERS & LIMITATIONS: None.
MY SKILLS: Fluent in Swedish and English (It makes it easier to communicate jobs with her family without anyone eavesdropping) Martial arts Shooting - Fianna has pretty sharp aim. Research Can understand Norwegian and Danish (this is purely due to the nature of Swedish, Norwegian and Danish) but not with any sort of ease - mostly you have to slow down your speech a bit, and in the case of Danes, speak a bit more clearly. Fianna insists that Danish sounds like you have potatoes down your throat when you speak. Professional - when it comes down to it, Fianna takes her work very seriously. Always has. Driven - she's very driven and determined, and not the type of woman to stray from the path she's on. This has, and may again, come back to bite her.
WEAKNESSES: Family - You threaten her family, you threaten her. Mikail Khan - her former fiancé. He died two years ago, but it's still a major sore point. He's still a valid weakness, and mentioning him creates a strong reaction. May not always be visible, but it throws her off and takes her off her stride. Unrelenting & Stubborn Doesn't always see shades of grey - Fianna does sometimes, but much of the supernatural world is black and white to her still. She's capable of learning, of becoming flexible (she rarely kills vamps anymore) but there's still much of that ingrained rigidity. People - She fights like a madwoman for them, but she's not good with them. Part of her is still a little amazed that she and Mikail ever dated at all. He was a jerk too, true, but he at least was better with people. Emoting. She's hard to read, and doesn't show her emotions much at all. It was rare enough when Mikail was alive. With him gone, it almost never happens.
LIKES: Alcohol (never to extremes) Hunting Her 'stang Mikail Khan Family Sweden Martial arts Guns Dogs
DISLIKES : Demons. Pop music. Los Angeles (She's been there a few times. Always hates it.) Egotistical people Passionless people (she may come off cold, but people with no passion tick her off.) Idiots. People who try to treat her as a helpless little girl, or a petite little blonde. This petite blonde can probably beat most of them ten ways from sunday. People in general.
GOALS : Saving lives - it's a big deal for Fianna, despite her seemingly severe dislike of most people. She wasn't able to save the life of the person dearest to her. So now she tries to save as many as she can find. Bringing the world back to normal - Vamps want to live out in the open? Fine and dandy, but they need to integrate, to assimilate as much as they can. Demons? Forget about it. She has yet to meet one she doesn't want to kill.
SO, WHAT ARE YOU LIKE? : Not an easy woman to get along with by any stretch of the imagination, Fianna seems to have missed the "charm" portion of life's lessons. She's met plenty of women who use their looks and natural charm to their advantage, but neither of those things are things Fianna is particularly good at. She's not good at resting on what she was born with, and as for charm? Forget it. On the rare occasion she shows even a hint of humor, it's sarcastic, dry and biting. At times it's even directed at another's expense.
Cold and aloof since childhood, it's grown worse in the past two years. The death of her fiancée Mikail sent her reeling back into her shell. Naturally introverted, though Fianna isn't exactly shy. She just listens more than she speaks, and tries to consider her words carefully when she does speak. Normally Fianna is calm, unshakeable. Confident. The loss of Mikail changed all of that. On the surface, she tries desperately to be the same person, but there's a fragility, a frailty that was never there before. In many ways, Fianna's lost her anchor. Mikail was the one to bring out a lighter side in her - a playful side, a sense of humor no one else really saw. With him gone, those sides of her, the sensual parts and the playful parts all shrank away, hidden deep.
Good luck getting her to admit to it, but Fianna's less confident, less sure of herself now. Her moves and motives are brought into question again and again, as are the motives of others. Never trusting to begin with, Mikail's death seems to have exacerbated things. Getting close to Fianna has become more difficult, new people are held at a distance, and even those she knew before he was killed are held at a bit of a distance. She finds people to be vaguely irritating and idiotic. Secretly, however, Fianna has a lot of faith in mankind. If she didn't she wouldn't be defending them. Unfortunately she tends to have particularly high standards, the kind that only a few people ever live up to.
Probably more accurately described as secretive, Fianna is overly private, even when Mikail was alive. She dislikes overt signs of affection in public - holding hands and light kisses are one thing. More than that is too much, and even kisses are pushing it. She doesn't like people seeing that stuff, or anything really. The way she views it is the fact that she doesn't go nosing around in their life at all gives her that same right to privacy.
Fianna isn't always hard, or cold. She's a stubbornly loyal friend, protective and even kind. Sort of. Generally as kind as Fianna ever gets, which is quite the difference from how she is with everyone else. She can joke a bit more, relax more. Even smile, though they're generally small and fade quickly, not to mention rare. It's mostly playful teases and dry humor that colors her interaction with her friends. Unless, of course, they're in danger. It's also what makes her work so remarkably well in a partnership situation. If someone she knows or feels responsible for is in danger, the reaction is immediate, and it's generally violent. Those who really matter in her life will find themselves protected with a sort of viciousness you wouldn't expect - she's already lost Mikail, and she won't lose someone else that matters in her life. Not if she can help it.
She gets irritated and tends to lose her patience easily with anything not dealing with her work. Usually she filters it into cold, sarcastic, snappish remarks. But there are buttons that can be pushed that make her well and truly snap. Understandably, Mikail is one of those triggers. Mentions of him put her on edge, and people blaming her for his death (It has happened) usually find her fist in their face. There's little that can provoke unnecessary violence from Fianna, but that is a giant trigger for her. It's not something she's proud of, but at this point it also isn't something she can help. She's a petty, flawed woman, but at least she recognizes, and admits to it.
realize that they no longer care ABOUT THE WRONG OR RIGHT
ANY FAMILY? : Einarr Åkerfeldt - Grandfather, deceased Eirikr Åkerfeldt - Father, living Siri Åkerfeldt - Mother, living ____ Åkerfeldt - Older brother, living ____ Åkerfeldt - Younger sister, living ____ Åkerfeldt - Younger brother, living WHAT'S HAPPENED TO YOU SO FAR?: Hunting, in the case of Fianna, was passed down in her family. Her Grandfather started it all, after he lost his youngest son to a werewolf in Sundsvall. It was a tradition that her father, Eirikr was taught, and that Eirikr eventually taught to Siri, and the pair continued to do even after moving from Sundsvall to America with their young son. It was after they had moved to New York City that Fianna was born. It was in this sort of tradition that she was raised. Despite that, and the fact that at least one of her parents traveled relatively often, the family was actually quite stationary, a semblance of normalcy in their lives.
She started wearing a ward to protect against possession at a young age, as did all the Åkerfeldt children, but she still went to school. Quiet even then, she was studious and intelligent... And quite the troublemaker at the time. Siri had to go to the principles office more than once while Fianna was in elementary school, for various reasons - Fianna had hit someone. She had backtalked the teacher. Grade wise, she was a good student, but didn't play well with others...
At least, until she met Mikail Khan. She didn't play well with him at first, either. But they were both stubborn, and he eventually won out through sheer determination - it took him two months for Fianna to warm up to him, but warm up she did, and the two became fast friends. He was the one to draw her out of her shell - for the good and the bad, because he had a temper equal to hers. Still, she smiled more and even played, had something almost approaching a normal childhood because of him. By high school the two of them were dating, which surprised no one. Shocking no one, her father did not approve. Also shocking no one, that didn't stop Fianna.
By her junior year in high school, Fianna started traveling a bit more, helping her father and mother hunt. She had been training well before then as well, and Fianna was good at it - had picked it up as a child and even then had loved it. It was mostly over the summers. But it didn't take long for Mikail to learn about it - Fianna wasn't in the habit of lying to her boyfriend. He didn't believe her at first, thought she was insane, or lying to him... playing a prank on him. Once he realized that everything was true, however... Well, needless to say, Mikail wasn't happy about it. It was dangerous.
By the age of 21 he'd at least convinced her to not hunt quite so often - to spend more time in New York, with him. She took up a job at a bar, the same one Mikail worked at. Between the two of them they managed to afford a one bedroom apartment, and when she wasn't behind the bar, she was often hunting. And that was how life was, up until two years ago. Two years ago, when Mikail proposed. Their engagement party was perfect, and when they went home for the night... Fianna woke to the unusual lack of Mikail, and got out into the living room just in time to see the demon kill him. She was able to exorcise the demon, send him back to hell.
And since then, life has gone insane. Suddenly she can't kill vampires due to their equal rights that were eventually achieved after they revealed themselves to the world at large. She's not sure what to make of that, but she abides by that rule - she doesn't kill them... Unless she catches them killing first. Fianna's not sure the direction the world is going, but she doesn't like it. More than anything, though, she wants the ability to find and kill the demon that killed the man she loved. Exorcisms don't last forever, after all.
the downwards spiral begins tonight THIS COULD BE MY GREAT AWAKENING
THE IMPACT :
"Was all that really necessary, Mikail?" Fianna asked, stepping into their apartment lightly on bare feet - her heels that she had been conned into wearing dangling absently from one hand.
The Indian man followed her in, smirking. "And miss a chance for you to actually show off your legs? No, I think it was entirely necessary." He joked, tugging on her dress a little. He'd convinced her mother and sister to get it for her, and left it to them to convince her to abandon the pants and boots in favor of a dress and heels. Miraculously, it had worked.
He pulled her close, kissing her, nuzzling Fianna's neck, smiling when she responded with her own touches and kisses, her arms wrapping around him and pulling him close in a way she never did in public. But all this was their time, their affection, something they both jealously guarded. Mikail was lucky to get her hand in his when they were in public. Mikail pulled away, running a hand through her hair. "Is it really necessary for you to leave tomorrow? You just got back."
"I got back two weeks ago, Mikail. I won't be gone long. Please, don't start this right now." Her tone was slightly chiding, and she was frowning up at him.
Rolling over in bed, Fianna looked to snuggle closer to her fiancé, only to find his pillow, and no Mikail. "Mm, Mikail?" A sound had her suddenly at full alert, and grabbing the rifle she kept near the bed, she stepped carefully out. "Mikail?"
Fianna recognized what it was that Mikail stood in front of immediately - the black eyes were a dead give away. His eyes were wide, coughing blood as he struggled to speak, to scream as he died. His body fell, limp, to the ground.
Fianna reacted, just as she had been trained, shooting at the creature, luring it to the devil trap she kept hidden, painted on the floor. "Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus..." She chanted from memory, robotically.
"Fianna, are you okay? I know you're still upset about Mikail, but that was weeks ago. No one has heard from you since the funeral."
Fianna sighed softly, holding the phone up to her ear. Her father... he would be worried, of course. "I'm find, dad. Just working. I'll be fine." The lie tasted like ash on her tongue.

Very, very well developed! I'm really excited to see what kind of trouble Fianna can get into - but first, I need roughly 15 more IC posts from Ayda before I can accept her. Once you got those, just lemme know & I'll accept!
