St.Paddy's Day Masquerade, In The City Hall Ball Room

Akasha stood on a fold latter, hanging shamrocks from the ceiling. It's been a while since she hosted a party, so she was a bit nervous but still excited. She wore a bright green dress and black heels, her mask was black with green feathers coming out the side, the dress wasn't really her style but it was traditional for St.Patrick's Day, and one of the few things Akasha enjoyed was tradition. Since she was new in town and a bit rusty at being a host she got some help from a local sheriff, she just hoped he will be here soon.

The ball room in the city hall was decorated with green and orange streamers and four leaf clover cut outs on the walls. There was cardboard leprechauns hanging off the chandelier, and shamrocks off the ceiling. The tables wrapped around the room against the wall. Some of the tables had a huge buffet of green potato salad, baked potatoes, roast lamb, corned beef and cabbage soup, and sugar cookies in the shape of leprechauns, also green beer and soda to drink. On the other side of the room was a vampire buffet of blood punch, blood wine and frozen blood H'orderves, with a sign that said "All blood from donors, no one died." There was also Tru blood, for those who want it.

Akasha climbed down off the latter and looked around, she thought she did a good job. She glanced at the clock on the wall, "Where the hell is he? he should be here by now." She said out load despite the fact no one else was in the room. She decided to write the rules down on a white board by the entrance, to pass the time.

RULES OF THE MASQUERADE

1.Vampires, no stalking or hunting in the ball room.
2.Hunters and, no hunting, just try to get along and have fun.
3.No 'Bar Fighting', if you have a disagreement settle it with words.
4.Have a fun time, we want you to.

    This wasn't really his scene.

Killian Brandt was definitely one for throwing parties and the like, but holiday parties? Hardly. Holidays insinuated joy, and there was no joy in his world. The only joy he would be able to find would be the kind one got from achieving ultimate power, laying their rule down over all and being known, respected and admired as a forceful, yet fearful leader. That was the happiness Killian sought to discover. Only then did he believe he'd be gleeful enough to celebrate a holiday.

Nevertheless, as much as this wasn't his scene, Killian had become skilled in the art of faking emotions over the last few centuries. You couldn't tell he wasn't the kind of vampire to be caught dead in green.

Though, if you knew it, you could. Never once sacrificing his usual dark attire for something bright and cheery, as that didn't fit his 'look,' Killian was dressed quite handsomely in the black blazer rested atop a smooth, fitted black button-up dress shirt. He completed the dark look of a vampire by making his ensemble one of all black, for the trousers hanging from his waist and wrapped around his legs were of an equal tint. The dark clothes served to give him a bit more color than his pale skin offered all on its own, which gave him more of a human appearance. Yet, it was the season for green and by wearing none you sacrificed yourself for an evening of uncomfortable pinches, right?

That's why, instead of going for a green suit, he elected to wear a green tie instead. Lime green in fact, the most seasonal plain green tie he could find, which actually played on his all black ensemble well. It also matched the satin green masquerade mask wrapped through the back of his blonde head and pressed atop those icy blue eyes of his. All in all, though not drenched in green, the small use of it against otherwise dark and broody colors made it stand out all the more, and that was all anyone could really ask from him.

So, no negative reviews of a sheriff who couldn't sacrifice himself to having a good time. Especially a sheriff like Killian, whose night life reputation was the stuff of legend over the years, having owned a handful of night clubs in the upper New York City area. Almost everyone in the circuit knew who he was, which was probably why Akasha, the Queen from another state, had been sent his way in helping to organize this little affair. Besides, Killian was newly appointed sheriff. An outing like this could do some good for his reputation in making his announcement hold a little more weight.

Despite the disinterest in this specific party, it was a political play nonetheless. And that was a play he would play well.

"No need for that," he said in a casually dismissive tone in regards to the rules she was writing on the whiteboard, "I had my people hang signs outside of the entrance saying the same thing. A little classier of an approach for this sort of affair, don't you think?"

Naturally speaking in a rather suave and cool air, he introduced himself. "My name is Killian Brandt. You must be Akasha."

In the nature of a man who lived through a time when being a gentleman was preferred, Killian reached his hand forward and took Akasha's into his own. Holding her slightly cool hand, he leaned his head down toward the back of her hand and glanced up at her through that mask. A small, polite kiss would be placed on her hand before he spoke again.

    "Pleasure to meet you finally."

While Akasha was writing down the rules, a handsome vampire walked though the doors. He told her that "his people" hung signs out side the entrance of the same rules. Akasha had no knowledge of this since she has been inside decorating all night. " Oh, yes a much classier approach." Akasha said a bit flustered by the confusion of who this man was exactly and why he had people hanging sings for him. Nevertheless she took the white board down and slid it under a table covered by a green table cloth. Before she could ask who he was he introduced him self as Killian Brandt, the sheriff she has messaged to be another host for the party. He gently kissed her hand, " Oh, well they don't make them like you any more do they? I'm glad you got my message, I was starting to think I had to do this alone." She swung the doors open and kicked the door stops down so they would stay that way. "Shall we then?" She said extending her arm out to gesture to Killian to extend his elbow for her to wrap around, so they may walk up to the throne like chairs in the back looking down on the room.

Mikael wasn’t sure why he decided to attend, but here he was basically throwing all caution to the wind just to waste his time on something as frivolous as a party, still when in Rome and all that so, he had dispensed with his usual gray on black attire for something a little more dress appropriate but not too dressy he certainly did not want to draw too much attention to himself. To stave off the tide of pinches he chose to wear a simple green chain bracelet around his wrist making doubly sure to wear it to the point that it was visible. He really wasn’t too keen on the many vampire and Were guests that were filtering in. In fact he felt like he was trapped in the land of the flies and he was out one flyswatter.

But he had a feeling that there would be more on the way and in spite of the warnings that coming to this party entailed he really did not think that the other guests would restrain themselves but he was for the most part unarmed, aside from the silver flask he usually carried on his person at all times. He continued to walk away from the crowd and stood in the most secluded area watching the crowd.

Danika walked in, fidgitting slightly in the clothes that she had bought earlier that night. With having been found by her most hated Queen, she no longer held the worry of being found causing an unignorable burn in her pocket caused by the Visa that Akasha had given her all those decades ago. So with a wicked grin, she took it to the most expensive, and vampire friendly, boutique to spend the money for this special night. A black dress accented by white gold and emerald accessories. It costed a fortunes, her attire, but she didn't worry much about the price. That was for Akasha to do. Sure she had an overwhelming amount stashed away, however, her shopping spree had put a considerable dent that would be noticed later on.

Aside from spending the Queen's money, she dressed to impress. Mainly Eric Northman, if he was attending, who had a less that spactacular opinion on her choice of when on their date. But that was behind her. Now it was time to enjoy or destroy this party, she hadn't quite decided yet.

As she walked in, she instinctively searched around. For whom, she was unsure, but she looked without a second thought at the crowd for familiar faces. Of coarse, she spotted Akasha first, her dress unbareably green for the event, speaking to a handsome fellow that she could only guess was the New York sheriff. Dani made note to introduce herself to him later if he didn't approach her first. Moving on, she scanned over dozens of unfamiliar people before finding a face that she recognized and didn't hate.

Danika made her way over to Mikael with a bright and friendly smile. "Hello again," she spoke just loud enough to be heard over the music. "I wasn't expecting to see you here." Truth be told, she really wasn't. He didn't seem the type that would come to these kind of events, so his presence was a pleasant surprise.

Mikael turned just in time to see who was talking to him a young vampire an attractive one at that, he knew her as his erstwhile walking companion and quite possibly an ally of sorts he was still trying to wrap his mind around the reason why she found him so damned fascinating and then he remembered the blood. Now it wasn’t as though he was displeased to see her, he only hoped that she would not make a habit out of hanging about, it may give the other predators the wrong impression but at any rate he would talk to her just keep himself occupied. “Oh well hello Ms.Danika, it is a pleasure to see you again and I see we are both alone this evening which is my professional purgative, but what is your excuse? I see plenty of guests who decided to attend without an escort but I never pegged you as the party alone type.” He said in a kindly manner for some reason even though he knew what she was he could not help but like her but only as an acquaintance.

“Personally I’m wondering why I even came to this party, hunters as a general rule do not usually attend social gatherings unless it is associated with business, but those are very far and few between.” He was smiling down at her but his gaze didn’t linger it was as if he was expecting the worst looking covertly at each guest that passed him by.

He gave a small grin to her as she responded to the kiss on her hand, his eyes watching her all the while. She was as beautiful as the day was long, most undoubtedly younger than he was. He could smell the youth on her, though she wasn't as young as many of the vampires he came across. When he was contacted that this Queen from California was making her way to New York City, he knew throwing a party of this magnitude with the oncoming holiday would be the best way to welcome her to the city. Of course, in putting Akasha on display before vampires, werewolves and every other creature in this city was the ideal goal, introducing himself to many of the vampires under his rule was going to be a welcome benefit.

"I'd never dream of leaving you with all the work," he said simply.

He offered his left arm to her and let her wrap her own through it. Without further ado, the two made their way forward into the fantastic masquerade ball in honor of St. Patrick's Day. He moved with her toward the chairs at the back of the room, where the party's hosts were expected to sit and look over the affair. In walking, eyes bounced across the room to various faces.

One couple in particular drew his eyes. There was a man across the way speaking with a young girl, the young lady who was looking in his direction at the Queen on his arm.

"It looks as though you have an admirer," he offered to Akasha with a small nod in Danika's direction, "Should we say hello?"

Dani could tell that her friend was unconfortable being here as his eyes scanned the room though his smile was directed at her. "Well, you don't seem like the type that abides by rules anyways," she said. "and I am a nomadic vampire, Mikael. I'm used to being alone.." Her eyes turned to see what he was looking at out of curiousity, again falling on Akasha and her escort. Except for this time, he was looking back at her before turning to Akasha.

She turned away from the crowd, her friendly smile fading as she wasn't really wanting to speak with the Queen anytime soon. She stepped closer to Mikael and stood next to him rather than infront of him like she was. "I hope you aren't bothered by my company, Mikael. I promise if you bare with me a little longer, I'll leave you alone."

Mikael heard a note of desperation in her voice and nodded, he could only assume that she saw her former queen during his brief sweep of the perimeter he took note of her presence she was definitely old, still the old ones died the same just as any vampire all one needed was the right tools. He looked at her and smiled “I would be honored young lady and there is no need to fret I enjoy your company, if you’re worried about the wicked queen and her rather uncouth escort I will be here to shield you. Stay close and above all show no fear.” he said sweetly on any given day this would have struck him as funny but this girl reminded him so much of his daughter the same attitude the same general appeal and also the same underlying good intentions.

“Now dear if you would be so kind as to take my arm so we could at least steer clear of them.” it was a spur of the moment sort of thing that took even him by surprise as he offered his arm to her.

And there is was again, the off seting tone in his voice that made her think of her maker. The fatherly tone that she long craved and she had to withold from reaching out and clinging to him like she desperately wanted to do to Demi. With a slow breath inward, she closed her eyes and focused, reminding her that he was not Demi and was in fact a cannibal, so a hug would be rudely unwanted. On the long, quiet exhale, she looked back up at him with a half hearted smile. "I do not fear her," she corrected, "as much as I loath her. And as for her excort, I've yet to meet him, so I have no say on how I feel about him."

As Mikael offered his arm to her, she looked just as shocked as he had, however, didn't hesitate to accept his offer to avoid the host and hostess. At least for a while. Dani knew that eventually, they would run into one another. She just hoped that Mikael would be there to hold her back from doing anything too stupid.

"So, are you here looking for anyone in particular?" she asked, hinting ever so slightly towards his diet. "Or have you put your occupation aside for the night to enjoy your eternity for once?"

He patted her arm and smiled gently as he walked out of the hostesses line of vision with his young friend hanging on his arm, they passed several people and took note of all their faces committing them to memory for future reference. “No one in particular dear I like you came on a whim under the pretense of having fun, I know its completely out of character for me the cannibalistic vampire -vampire hunter to have “fun’ but here I am trying my best to behave like a good guest however…” he said looking over his pausing just long enough to look over his shoulder.

“Sorry Ms.Danika it’s a force of habit a process of sorts that I’m working through you see all hunters suffer from certain degrees of paranoia and I seem to suffer from the worst sort the overly cautious always one step ahead kind, which I have to admit isn’t such a bad thing to have especially under these circumstances.” he really wasn’t sure why he was telling her this but he could only assume that he was trying to alleviate her doubts about his mental stability.

She could understand his feeling of paranoia. For the half a decade she spent hiding from her Queen, the paranoia had burned deep to where she couldn't stay in one place for too long. However, ever since that chance meeting, the paranoia had faded. Of coarse, in his line of work, she could see that his case wouldn't soon disappear and would probably follow him even after his true death. But, she kept a light smile, not being bothered by him checking over his shoulder, or analyzing the crowd.

She scanned the tables of food, from the human to the vampire, not really being enticed by any of it. Human food made her stomach knot at the thought of ingesting and the vampire set up was just sad. Blood shouldn't just be laid out, it should be earned by the hunt, so that wasn't something she would yield to.

"Don't worry," she told Mikael, "I'm sure that altercations are the furthest thing from everyones minds right now, but I know that won't stop how you're feeling."

And the teenager was dressed to impress, this particular night! He wore a black, long-sleeved button up shirt, tucked in to matching black slacks. He had a belt on, and wrapped around his neck was a rather pretty light green tie. It was as St. Patty's day as he could manage, especially considering he didn't own a 'good' outfit for this sort of thing. His brother had loaned him this stuff after all sorts of grumbles and chore-swapping, though Nick had a sneaking suspicion he would have gotten away with the stuff anyways. Kenny was still pissed about the money theft, though it had clearly been in good tastes.

He was glad to be all fixed up, and he had decided that the best thing to do would be to celebrate with complete strangers! Actually, a big part of him was just curious as to see how the party would go. Vampires and humans intermingling all over the place, with the only thing keeping them from doing whatever a couple of signs outside?

Though, that wasn't exactly the way it was meant. He wanted to listen to the conversations, hear what people were saying. He wanted to use this as an opportunity to figure out what angle to take his next paper on vampire rights. To see how society was accepting it actively - not just putting on faces for cameras or whatever? It was an opportunity he didn't think came around often enough. Sure, some people would be wearing more than just the masquerade mask, but he doubted everyone would be so defensive all the time.

Besides, he was a kid. It made him invisible at times like this. Still, the fairy boy shifted away from the door, just taking in the scenery more than anything else. The odor of blood was heavy on the air, though, which he thought was kind of interesting, considering only a portion of the patronage would be interested in that sort of thing. He passed by the bloodffet, and paused, noting the bloodcicles.

"Huh." He muttered, mostly to himself. He had it on good authority that room temperature blood was gross enough - how the hell would freezing it make it taste any better. He couldn't help himself, being completely enthralled by the idea. Did freezing it really make it taste any different? What was the point of preparing a buffet?

He shook his head a bit, biting away the smile. He kind of glanced around, not so much looking at people as he was listening in to snippets of conversations. His brother would be so much better at this, but he'd refused to accompany him to a party where he could only hear some of the thoughts. Apparently, vampires made him feel awkward. Nick had let him go, because forcing him would have been impossible.

He got towards the human-finger-food table and grinned at the weird little leprechaun cookies and grabbed about five, so he had something to munch on as he poked around. He passed almost directly in front of Killian and Akasha with a slight 'Excuse me.' Of someone who was used to not really being paid attention to.

While Cassandra wasn't all that fond of Christianity, she had to admit she enjoyed St Patrick's day. She'd never met Patrick in person, but she felt a certain amount of camaraderie with the man. He was a Britanian born Roman citizen, just like she was, and his actions still resonated to this day. She might not agree with his beliefs, but she respected Patrick for what he had done for the Irish. Add to the fact that this was a masquerade party and it was a garuntee that the little vampire would attend. She'd always loved masquerade balls, ever since the Fate's had taken her to one when they were living in Venice. She still had the mask from that first ball, a cat mask that would be worth millions to the right collecter. It was several centuries old and still in perfect condition. She rarely had a chance to wear her cat mask, and she was going to wear it.

Her dress was technically a wedding dress, but it was a rather pretty green and Cassandra wanted to look classy for the event. She entered the room with a slight spring to her step, alone and probably looking a little out of place. With her mask on, not many people would recognise her and by the looks of things she was the only 'little' girl in the room. She had begged Nikhil to come with her, since they usually celebrated any holiday together, but her guardian wasn't all that fond of Killian, who was helping to run the event. The Indian vampire said Killian was like a male Julia, even though he had never met the oldest of Cassandra's progeny. Besides, he'd been planning on breaking up with the human woman he'd started seeing during the whole Eve business, and tonight was apparently as good a night as any.

Cassandra took a moment to spot Killian, raising her hand slightly to wave in greeting to him before spotting two other familliar faces. First, she spotted Danika talking to a much older gentleman. The she spotted Nick, her part-fairy friend from New Years. They'd traded blood, something Cassandra rarely did with humans... and now could probably never do again now that she was Magister. She waved to Nick, wanting to greet her progeny before speaking to the part-fey boy. She walked up to Killian, a small smile curling her lips as she approached.

"I have to hand it to you Killian, this is a magnificent party," she said by way of greeting. She turned her attention to the woman with Killian, assuming this was the Queen of California. She bowed her head slightly, although that was all she allowed herself since technically Cassandra outranked the Queen.

"Aren't you going to introduce me to our hostess?" she queried, turning her attention back to Killian.

She had not been out of the hospital for more than a day, but Dawn had read in the newspaper about a St. Patrick's Day masquerade being thrown. It was being thrown by the vampire Queen of California, and the North Vampire Sheriff of New York City, which was none other than Killian. The threats that he made were simply just that. Dawn was still having trouble wrapping her head around the bombshell that was dropped on her, that this vampire had been posing as her human boyfriend for years. It advertisement stated that all were welcome, but it clearly was going to be an event catered to the vampire community. There was a chance that Eric Northman would be there, and Dawn had every intention of sending Killian a message. A public message in the safety of others would suit her just fine.

Luckily there had been no one at the Summers' residence while she was scouring through the place looking for a suitable outfit to wear. Dawn arrived at city hall by way of a taxi and she slowly made her way inside towards the party. A long black dress adorned her body that was complete with a deep v-cut in the center, allowing her curves to be on full display. Dawn had every intention of throwing Killian off of his game tonight. Her long, chestnut locks were pulled back into a sleek ponytail. Long chandelier earrings with green gems hung from her earlobes. Her sister's silver cross necklace was adorned around her neck, draped on top of her bare skin. Her make-up was smokey, giving off a sultry look. Black flip-flops were fixated upon her feet, but were mostly covered by the hem of her dress. As much as Dawn wanted to wear heels, her body wasn't up to the challenge just yet. The bruises were pretty much faded, but Dawn made sure they were concealed with make-up. The cast on her arm was the only visible sign on her injury, and it was wrapped with a black fabric.

Dawn reached the party and stepped inside, her eyes settling upon the sight of the more pale crowd. This may have been a masquerade party, but Dawn had nothing to hide as she had opted not to wear a mask. As she walked through the room, her eyes were scanning the guests, looking for a sign of someone familiar. It was then that she spotted what only could be Killian Brandt, as the cocky son of a bitch that he was. He would be sitting in a chair in the back with the Queen receiving guests. Dawn turned and walked towards the human beverage table, retrieving a glass of wine for herself.
