"Well Jesus Christ don't get yourself killed!" There was only room for one suicidal Balthazar and he would have to get the fuck in line.

"I will go somewhere and talk to you about this, but." She waved a finger at him. "I am not falling for your bullshit. I am a grown ass woman. I am your SISTER."

He shrugged and slumped down in his seat, silently.

She had to remember that he was tricking her. That this was an elaborate plan to get some sort of childish revenge on her.

"I'm out, Leo. Do whatever it is you're going to do. But I can't do this." Esther turned and walked quickly (stomped, really ) out of the now destroyed restaurant. She didn't have a plan and wasn't sure where she was going. Esther was sure she'd figure it out.

There was another crash, followed by a second beam that slammed into Leo, sending him flying across the room, where he landed in a motionless heap.

Esther turned at the noise, and stopped in her tracks. She never had a choice in any of this bullshit.

She ran back to where he was laying, and put a hand on his arm. "Get up, Leo. We need to get out of here, you crazy bastard."

"I can't carry you, you asshole," She cursed at him. "You know I can't."

What the fuck was going on? Seriously, how much could possibly go wrong with Esther's life? He was lying and he'd set this up. And he could fuck around all he wanted but she was not going to let him win.

That fucker. She could beat him at his own game. Number one, she knew he wasn't dead because she could read anything off of him. Idiot. He hadn't thought about that.

And then the memories flooded into Esther. The memories of Leo's travel through time and the dark future he was sent back to prevent.

And now, couldn't.

No. That wasn't right. It couldn't be right and none of this was supposed to be happening. He was suppose to live to be old and bother her all of her stupid, shitty life. He wasn't supposed leave her alone.

"No!" Esther wailed, now on the verge of total panic. "You bastard! Wake up, Leo! Please. I'm sorry!" Esther shook him gently. "You can't leave me, not like this. I love you. LEO!"

When he didn't respond, Esther to her own surprise did not panic. She continued to wail and scream at him until the police and EMTs finally arrived. Dazed, she managed to give the officers a fractured, semi-accurate version of what had happened. What had happened? Esther couldn't figure it out. First he was telling the truth, then lying, then telling the truth and now he was, what? Actually dead?

She touched her forehead after a confusing string of related questions. Huh. She was bleeding. More strange things. Esther allowed herself to be led out of the destroyed building and to an ambulance for a further look at her injuries.

Esther just couldn't find a way to understand why any of this was happening.
