He smiled, and flipped the book back for her a few pages.

She was pissed. "Are you fucking crazy?" Esther hissed. "Do you want me to have Flynn's baby? Is that what you want?"

No. He was lying. He was making all this shit up. Esther took a breath to calm herself. "You're very clever but I don't have time for this."

[Leonardo Balthazar]

"No. I'm not fucking crazy." He paused and said the most ridiculous thing.

"Yet."

[Sheol]

She buried her hands in her face. "I thought we were done with this!" She said, muffled. "It's not happening and you need help if this is the lengths you'll go to so you can get laid."

Esther looked back up at him. "There are thousands of girls in this city who would sleep with you. Thousands."

[Leonardo Balthazar]

"Yes. But only you can birth the boy who saves the Earth. I'm sorry." He shook his head.

"It wasn't my choice."

[Sheol]

"I'm sorry, Leo, but you're not exactly a reliable source." Why was Esther still sitting? She should get up and walk away. This was fucking ridiculous. "I'm going to need to see some evidence."

[Leonardo Balthazar]

He raised his hands.

"I'm here, aren't I? I knew when you were coming."

[Sheol]

"That means nothing. You always find me. You probably have my cell phone bugged." Esther slid farther down into her chair. "Honestly? I would rather be dead than have a child with you."

[Leonardo Balthazar]

"Well, that's good, because that's basically what our options are here."

[Sheol]

"Well at least If I get killed for some stupid other reason you won't have to tell everyone your shitty fake mom killed herself." Esther sighed, frustrated."I don't understand why you want me to be so miserable all the time."

She tried to will herself it leave. It wasn't working.

[Leonardo Balthazar]

"I don't, Esther." He frowned at her. "I want you to be happy. I want to make you happy. But to do that, I have to save the world. Such is the burden of the Balthazars."

[Sheol]

Esther straightened in her chair, snatched his wine glass, and tossed the drink on to him. "No. You don't. You're selfish and the only possible way for you to care less for me would be if you didn't know I existed."

She finally stood. "I can't anymore. I can't, Leo. I'm sorry that I'm never going to be what you want me to be. I tried. It's just not worth it to try anymore."

[Leonardo Balthazar]

There was a loud crash, and the restaurant was torn in two with a huge beam of light smashing through the building, directly between Leo and Esther. The poor Koala of Merciless Justice didn't make it.

Leo extended his hands.

"We narrowly avoid a supervillain attack."

[Sheol]

"Don't come near me," she warned him. "Don't touch me, Leo."

Esther was obviously freaked out by this coincidence. She tried to assure herself that he had probably paid some idiot off. Just so he could sleep with her like she was some sort of conquest. "You need help, Leonardo."

[Leonardo Balthazar]

"Yes!" He said. "I need your help!' He didn't move from his seat, although there was a loud clanging moving toward him.
