Title: Segreti dal Futuro
Description: Esther Jean Balthazar

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 07:40 AM (GMT)
Leo sat in a small restaurant. smoking. He hadn't smoked in a long time, but he didn't care anymore. He was dressed in army fatigues, and was leaning back in his chair. His dark eyes were covered by sunglasses. His dark hair hung longer than it had since he was a teenager, and it had a streak of white in it, near the front.

According to his small red book, Esther should be here any minute.

Sheol - December 22, 2011 07:47 AM (GMT)
Esther, as usual, was unsuspecting as to anything and everything that was about to befall her. After all the craziness with Flynn, she was taking a few days on the ground to figure out what the hell was going on.

For now, she was meeting a friend for dinner. Arriving at the restaurant, she quickly scanned it and didn't find who she was looking for. Oh well. She could wait. Esther pulled out a small mirror and checked her hair. She looked all right/ Maybe like she needed a vacation, but that was true, wasn't it?

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 07:49 AM (GMT)
There were few times when Leo used his powers. He decided that this was an appropriate time. His body disappeared, and a few moments later, he was wrapping his arms around his sister's waist from behind.

"Hey, sis."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 07:53 AM (GMT)
She jumped, startled by his appearance and moreso by the fact that he was touching her. Esther pushed his arms away. Who did he think he was, grabbing her? Touching her at all? It wasn't who they were.

"Hi," Esther replied dryly. "Everywhere I go, there you are. How's that work?" She didn't make any attempt to hid her irritation. He was her brother, and she did love him - but she couldn't trust him. Whatever he was doing, it wasn't going to be in her best interest.

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 07:54 AM (GMT)
He shrugged. "I guess we're fated to be together."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 07:57 AM (GMT)
She snorted, but didn't say anything to negate that. She'd said it herself before. Esther was stuck with him, either by bad luck or divine providence. Which meant she had to take care of him, whether she liked it or not. She was the eldest.

"What do you need, kiddo?" Esther smiled at him. Maybe he would go away and not ruin her dinner.

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 07:58 AM (GMT)
He shrugged. "Can't a guy miss his sister?"

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:00 AM (GMT)
She looked away. She was not going to believe him. He said nice things and did not mean them. That was what he did and she wasn't going to believe him. "When have you ever missed me, Leo? You're not nine. It's not summer camp."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:01 AM (GMT)
"Not like we could afford summer camp." He shrugged again.

"When have I ever been gone long enough to miss you?"

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:04 AM (GMT)
Well. She'd tried. She'd tried to not be the worst fake mom ever and to give him the things he'd wanted but she'd failed. She'd also tried to not believe him when he said things with the purpose of manipulating her, but once again, she'd failed.

Esther smiled again, warmer this time. and sighed. "I don't know. Never, I guess? Look, Leo, I like talking to you but I'm meeting someone for dinner. I don't have more than like, five minutes."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:08 AM (GMT)
"No, you're not." He opened a little red book from his chest pocket.

"You entered this restaurant at exactly six oh six and had dinner alone until six forty eight." He closed the book and slipped it back into his pocket.

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:11 AM (GMT)
"I did not!" She snapped, and looked at her watch. It was 6:10. Weird. "What's with the book? I think the level of mind games we were at before was fine. Let'd not take it to a new level with accessories."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:12 AM (GMT)
"It went with my new outfit." He shrugged.

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:13 AM (GMT)
She sighed again, and looked him up and down. "Yeah, what's with the outfit?"

Part of Esther figured she would regret asking.

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:15 AM (GMT)
"It's a long story, and you're quite busy, remember?"

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:16 AM (GMT)
She stared at him a moment, working out what was happening. God damn it. "No one's meeting me for dinner, are they?" she asked, defeated.

That little fucker. Every time.

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:21 AM (GMT)
"Well," He started, "I am."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:22 AM (GMT)
Esther wonder what she had done in a previous life that deserved so much punishment. Whatever it had been, she was sorry.

"Okay," she sighed, "I'm hungry, here we are. So let's have dinner."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:25 AM (GMT)
"That's our table over there." He pointed to one next to the window. It had a bottle of wine on it, and a stuffed koala.

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:27 AM (GMT)
Her nose wrinkled, as Esther tried to figure out what any of this fucking meant. "Okay." she agreed again.

She decided it was better to not wait around and see what he did next, and made her way to the table. God, her life was weird.

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:29 AM (GMT)
Leo sat down and turned the Koala to face her.

"This is the Koala of Merciless Justice." Leo smiled. "I stole him for you."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:31 AM (GMT)
She forgot about the whole not trusting and believing Leo. For the moment, she remembered when they'd been younger, and he'd actually been a decently warm-hearted child. "Oh. Thanks, Leo."

Esther picked up the koala, and grinned. "What exactly does a Koala of Merciless Justice do to earn such a title."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:34 AM (GMT)
Leo shrugged. "That was just his title in the New Metro City Museum. I didn't stay long."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:37 AM (GMT)
She laughed. "Shit, kid. I thought you outgrew that." Esther should have been disappointed but she wasn't. "I like him. He's cute."

She moved the koala back off to the side of the table and turned her attention to Leo again. "Did you have a certain agenda for dinner?" Esther raised an eyebrow. "Maybe in that book of yours?"

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:38 AM (GMT)
"Maybe I do, but you don't want to hear it." Leo smirked.

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:39 AM (GMT)
"You've told me a lot of things I don't want to hear." She shrugged. "I'm your big sister. It's my job to hear the good things and the bad things and the weird things."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:41 AM (GMT)
He opened his book and shrugged. "According to this, we enjoy a nice dinner, then we narrowly avoid the super villain attack today, and then we conceive the child who saves the world." He took a sip of wine.

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:43 AM (GMT)
She narrowed her eyes. "You said that it said that I ate dinner alone." Esther leaned back in her chair. She didn't touch the wine, just in case it was roofied.

"So what's actually going on, Leo?" Esther tried to suppress an eyeroll.

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:46 AM (GMT)
He extended his hand with the book to her. On one side, the column read The End of the World, on the other, it read Salvation. On the End, in meticulous hand writing, Esther's entire day had been lined out. On the opposite side, the page was mostly blank, until it began with the events Leo had just read out.

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:48 AM (GMT)
She inspected the writing, and glanced up at him. "This is an elaborate prank. And I'm on birth control, so I guess the world's going to end."

Maybe that wasn't so bad.

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:49 AM (GMT)
He smiled, and flipped the book back for her a few pages.

Exchange Esther's birth control with sugar pills There was a check next to it.

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:55 AM (GMT)
She was pissed. "Are you fucking crazy?" Esther hissed. "Do you want me to have Flynn's baby? Is that what you want?"

No. He was lying. He was making all this shit up. Esther took a breath to calm herself. "You're very clever but I don't have time for this."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 08:56 AM (GMT)
"No. I'm not fucking crazy." He paused and said the most ridiculous thing.

"Yet."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 08:59 AM (GMT)
She buried her hands in her face. "I thought we were done with this!" She said, muffled. "It's not happening and you need help if this is the lengths you'll go to so you can get laid."

Esther looked back up at him. "There are thousands of girls in this city who would sleep with you. Thousands."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 09:00 AM (GMT)
"Yes. But only you can birth the boy who saves the Earth. I'm sorry." He shook his head.

"It wasn't my choice."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 09:03 AM (GMT)
"I'm sorry, Leo, but you're not exactly a reliable source." Why was Esther still sitting? She should get up and walk away. This was fucking ridiculous. "I'm going to need to see some evidence."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 09:07 AM (GMT)
He raised his hands.

"I'm here, aren't I? I knew when you were coming."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 09:09 AM (GMT)
"That means nothing. You always find me. You probably have my cell phone bugged." Esther slid farther down into her chair. "Honestly? I would rather be dead than have a child with you."

Leonardo Balthazar - December 22, 2011 09:10 AM (GMT)
"Well, that's good, because that's basically what our options are here."

Sheol - December 22, 2011 09:13 AM (GMT)
"Well at least If I get killed for some stupid other reason you won't have to tell everyone your shitty fake mom killed herself." Esther sighed, frustrated."I don't understand why you want me to be so miserable all the time."

She tried to will herself it leave. It wasn't working.
