The Vox Family

The Vox family hasn’t been in Albany long; originally from NYC, they lived there until their mother moved to Albany in an effort to win their father back from Arianna Vox. Their parents divorced when they were young and their father remarried, bringing them a step-sister whom they haven’t met yet. They didn’t go to their father’s wedding, as their mother kept them home. Because their father is a business tycoon, all of them are relatively well off and have never had to work a day in their life.

Sarah Vox
Age: 26 years old

About: Sarah Vox is the oldest natural born daughter of Benjamin Vox. She grew up with money and was extremely upset when her parents divorced and was the main catalyst in making sure the family stayed in Winnipeg rather than running off to Albany after their father. She thinks that her mother is weak for wanting to stay with him. She met Aisling Lowe on spring break with her siblings, but the name didn’t really register with her. She thought that Ash lacked manners of any sort and wasn’t good enough for her sister’s friendship; she’s always been a bit elitist in that regard. She won’t hang around people who she thinks are ‘below’ her. She doesn’t realize that Ash has money from the TV show. I’m guessing that she’ll be the first one to discover that Ash is their step-sister.

Maximillian Vox
Age: 21 years old

About: Max grew up rich as well, but was always somewhat overlooked by his mother who had always wanted girls. He was able to do his own thing growing up, ended up going to an all boys prep school and, upon exiting, went absolutely wild with the girls. He’s definitely a bit of a playboy who uses his adorable good boy looks and charm to lure girls into his bed. When he meets Aisling Lowe on spring break, they really hit it off. The two of them have the same objective when it comes to the opposite gender- have a little bit of fun with no attachment. The problem will arise when he finds out that Ash is, in fact, his step-sister. Sarah Vox will probably be the one to inform him.

Alexandra Vox Age: 20 years old

About: Alex needed a place to stay while she went to university to get away from her mother and older sister, so when Aisling Lowe put an ad in the paper looking for a third and final roommate in her condo, she jumped on the opportunity. She fit right in to the whole dynamic between Aisling and her friend, Jacqueline Roux. So much so that she invited the two of them to go with her family for spring break. Jackie and Ash went, meeting Max and Sarah in the process. Basically, she’ll probably be thrilled to find out that Ash is her step-sister.

Benjamin Vox
Age: 48 years old

About: A huge business tycoon, Benjamin spent most of his life in NYC. He married young and, about ten years into the marriage and three kids later, he realized that he might have made a mistake. He lived alone for a few years, leaving the kids when he moved to Albany, where he eventually met Arianna Lowe. Also divorced, with her child and ex husband abroad, they really hit it off and, within a few years, were married. Aisling doesn't like him very much. He made an effort to get to know her during the first couple years, sending postcards and gifts, but gave up when he realized the pigheaded girl wasn't going to budge.

Arianna Vox
Age: 45 years old

About: Arianna was a part of the camera crew for Critter Interviews. She was acquainted with Christopher Lowe for years, but didn't start dating him until he rescued her from a poisonous snake that had managed to escape during filming. He said all he wanted in return for saving her life was a date. She agreed and, a few years later, they were married. Not long after, she found that she was pregnant and decided that their child needed a stable life. She started a home in Albany while Chris kept running around for the show. She hated being alone, kept calling him, begging him to quit and find a job in town, but he wouldn't. When she divorced him, he didn't know what to do and just signed the papers, hoping that as soon as he caught a break, he would be able to come back and win her over. She remarried before he had the chance.

Susan Vox
Age: 46 years old

About: Susan Vox married Benjamin Vox right out of college. They were happy for a while, but ten years in, he shocked her with news that he wanted a divorce. Upset, she tried to fight it, but in the end, she was left with the kids in NYC while he moved to Albany. She recently relocated to Albany, where the kids are in school, in an effort to win him back.

The Roux Family

The Roux family has been looking out for Aisling since her parents divorced and her mother practically checked out, providing a roof over her head along with food when necessary. She spent a good amount of time during her middle school years just chilling out at the Roux household, even living there for a month during the seventh grade when the situation at home became too much for her to bear.

Jacqueline Roux
Age: 20 years old

About: Jackie has known Aisling Roux since they were both in pre-school. They became fast friends immediately, bonding over their mutual taste for the class’s chocolate cupcakes on the first day of school. They were inseparable from that point onwards; Jackie became the one who told people to lay off when they got in Ash’s face asking questions about her dad. When her parents went through the divorce, she was the one who offered a shoulder to cry on when Ash needed it. When Ash left, she was also the only one she kept in touch with, sending letters on at least a weekly basis and when Ash came to visit, she would stay at Jackie’s house. When she came back, they both decided to rent a condo in downtown Albany while they attended university. Jackie is the grounding influence in Ash’s life. Where Ash can be impulsive and wild to the point of self-destruction, Jackie knows how to have fun without crossing that line and tries to keep Ash from doing the same.

Gabriel Roux
Age: 20 years old

About: Gabriel has had to put up with Ash from the day that he thought girls were icky. A sweet boy, he never was the most outspoken, typically keeping to himself when Ash visit. She would poke fun of him, calling him a mute and the likes. He was his twin’s polar opposite, preferring to have time to himself reading and sitting home alone to going out and partying. When he went to university, he stayed home with his parents. He and Ash lost their virginity together, however, on a visit when she was sixteen years old. It was a huge event for him, but Ash didn’t seem to think twice about it. He would quietly send her letters until she came back, but she never replied to them, leaving him bewildered. He never told his twin. Now, he sees Ash’s relationship with Maximillian Vox and despite the fact that he knows it’s only physical, he doesn’t like it.

Gabriel Roux
Age: 46 years old

About: Christopher Lowe has been working for Animal Planet for years now, hosting the hit show Critter Interviews. He and his daughter, Ash, are relatively close, although he's currently on her shitlist for making her go to school. The truth is that he wants to retire so that he can come back and live a settled life in Albany, and can't in good conscience do that until he knows he has someone to replace him on the show. He knows Ash is fully capable of it, but he wants her to have more of a background in the subject matter before she takes over. He still loves his ex-wife and is unlikely to look for someone else to date in the near future.
