peregrine is not the warm and fuzzy sort. she never has been, even as a child. there was always something that was relatively cold about her, detached. she had the distinct quality of being able to distance herself from people. she never fell in love, she had few friends, and those that were her family, she barely speaks to. sloane came as no difference. although both of them were of archenland heritage, they found themselves on two difference sides of the fence after the coup was staged and complete. peregrine followed her queen into the mountains while sloane continued his rather hermit-like life in the forests at the foothills of the mountains. as a hunter, he took little interest in the sudden takeover of government. to say the least, he couldn't help but be a little pleased. he was not fond of gareth and his rather soft stomach. archenland needed a king who was powerful, strong, and would be able to expand the country. and, quite obviously, the solange heir wasn't doing the job. none the less, he distanced himself from the capitol, prefering the peace and quiet of the woods. it was strange to him, that one day, he found a maiden in the woods. she pestered him with questions for a long time, however couldn't help but be curious himself. she gave little away, however, and he liked it. someone cautious. it wasn't long until he began to think about her on a daily basis. she danced about his thoughts, unsmiling, unyielding, perfect. however...if he only knew who she supported...what rift would it cause? can love cross the boundaries of loyalty?
