Just want to say all the best to our team going to the Nogi British Open. Really sorry I can't be with you to compete and coach but it's just bad timing for me. I know everyone's been training hard for it and now the time is here to put on your best performance.

Chris has my camera so if anyone who is going is decent at videoing can they please grab it and get as many fights as possible. Obviously the battery won't last forever so just get as much as possible. It's pretty easy to use... open the view screen and it turns on, open the lens cover then press record (the zoom lever is on the top)! PLEASE LOOK AFTER IT and close the lens cover when not using it smile.gif Oh, and hold it steady when recording (use both arms) or the footage tends to be unusable for highlights and stuff.

NOW, GO SMASH THEM ALL AND SHOW THEM WHAT THE CHRIS REES ACADEMY IS ALL ABOUT!!! smile.gif

Results as far as I know. Sorry it's all one paragraph, can't do line returns on my phone. Ash Williams gold juvenile and silver adult. Josh Williams silver juvenile (lost to Ash). Sam Hooker gold and Steve Borde silver super super heavyweight. Kris Lewis gold super heavyweight. David Wosman bronze. Steve Borde also took silver in the absolute. Think that's it. Apologies if I've missed anyone.

Ash got a knee to the head in the adult final and couldn't continue. Think he got cut. Tough luck to lose that way but an awesome performance! Think Johnnie, Zack and Leigh all won their first fights. Some guys on the list didn't fight in the end.

Congratulations to everyone. Huge well done to Ash in particular who I spoke to earlier. To get a silver at adult blue belt when only 17 years old in the biggest nogi comp of the year is amazing and from what I heard he was on goal to win that fight. His opponent kept backing away from him and it was only when he was attacking that the cut happened. I know he'll be gutted to lose like that but he should hold his head up high.

Official results are posted HERE.

Our results are as follows;

Kris Lewis - beginner super heavy master/senior - gold
Sam Hooker - beginner super super heavy adult/master - gold
Ash Williams - juvenile 67kg - gold
Ash Williams - intermediate feather adult - silver
Steve Borde - beginner absolute - silver
Steve Borde - beginner super super heavy adult/master - silver
Josh Williams - juvenile 67kg - silver
David Wosman - beginner feather adult - bronze

I also need to point out that for team points all our guys have (rightly) been placed under Braulio Estima as one of his satelite clubs. However, on our own we had 40 points (gold = 9, silver = 3, bronze = 1) which would put us in THIRD PLACE in the team event, behind only Braulio Estima and RGA - two of the biggest academies in the UK (in fact, I think they are the two biggest).

THIS IS AMAZING!!! smile.gif

I just watched Josh's fight, what the hell triangle choke was that. He'll have to show me that next time I see him. He has the triangle on and he goes under the guys legs, I'm assuming it puts it on even tighter, especially if you have long legs?

Also, before that did he go for an anaconda choke then to a peruvian neck tie?

Yeah mate, anaconda to peruvian neck-tie to anaconda to peruvian neck-tie to triangle! Awesome.

From the video it's not easy to see but I'm assuming he went for the underhook on the leg and ended up completely through the guy's legs.

I think he was looking to wrap around the guys body with both arms, this will make the triangle a lot tighter than the standard underhook of the leg, but I think as he was going for it his opponent stuck his left leg through which meant he had his right arm around him and his left arm between the other guys legs. Chris was showing that to myself, Josh and Ash last week, he obviously remembered it haha.
