These guys were by far my favourite game designers when I first got an N64. They were one of the big reasons I felt such loyalty to Nintendo for so long. After all, playstation didn't have anything that looked that great and pretty much all Xbox had going for it at the time was halo.

Now It seems Rareware has defacted to the Xbox and banjo-threeie will be on the Xbox 360 and not the wii.

I don't mind too much, but it's kind of disapointing that I can't just have one consol for my favourite games anymore and now need several of them, depending on what I want to play. I'm only a student! Money doesn't magically appear under my bed.

The thing is, Nintendo used to have partial ownership of Rareware or something like that. A few years back now, they sold their stake to Microsoft which is why they are developing exclusively for the Xbox 360 now and not the Wii or the Playstation 3 for that matter.

That was a bad decision on Nintendo's part, and Microsoft isn't even trying to put Rare to good use...so it's a total waste sad.gif

Well Rare really only concentrated on Donkey Kong and Banjo-Kazooie / Tooie games didn't they? What were some of the other titles they released?

Donkey Kong Country and Banjo were 2 of the best known Rare series, but they did a lot of others too: Killer Instinct,Blast Corps, Diddy Kong Racing, Conker, Cruising USA, and there were a number of others as well. Basically, most of Nintendo 64's best games were Created or at least Co-created by Rare Ware. Were it not for them, Nintendo 64 would have been a lot more boring than it was.

Didn't Rareware make Perfect Dark too? And Jet Force Gemini? There were heaps of games that they made, and they weren't all just one genre. They were a creative team- even the credits were intersting.

I hate console exclusive titles. I think it shows a lack of respect for the consumer. You shouldn't assume I'm so addicted to your games I will buy whatever console you're creating games for. In fact I'm a rather stubborn butt and would likely do without if it came to those tactics. I like games that play well with everyone.

But if the console they're creating for happens to be the one you own, then it's great.

Consoles actually need some of those exclusive games, otherwise people would choose based only of the price of the games, and those can easily differ by $20. It adds a sort of character to the console.
