Warrington, Jacob

Jacob now has an official character timeline! It creates a narrative of his time so far and includes links to all threads I've participated in. I hope it provides some context for what Jacob is thinking and doing. I've checked all the dates of the full moon for accuracy. Specific dates and details are subject to change as the plot develops.

July 15
Summer vacation. Jacob recives his O.W.L. grades (see below). Jacob and his friends raid a barn at night and get a little wild. After his friends have left and Jacob is sitting alone, a werewolf appears, attacks, and bites him.

July 16
At dawn, the werewolf resumes human form [a wizard named Garin] and flees. Jacob awakens covered in blood and hair, runs home and tries to explain to his muggle parents what has happened. Jacob is afraid of what his siblings and friends will think of him and he decides to not to tell them.

August 12

Jacob faces his fears and returns to the barn alone; Garin (in human form) also returns to the barn and has summoned a Ministry wizard seeking advice; the Ministry wizard identifies Jacob as an unregistered werewolf and takes him into custody at the Ministry of Magic.

August 13
Jacob's first transformation (in a Ministry cell). His trial begins. His siblings and friends learn about his lycanthropy and have varied reactions.

August 23
Jacob is admitted to Furiae Correctional Facility. A muggleborn, a werewolf, and a convinted criminal, he faces prejudice and feels quite hopeless about his future, and he vows to destroy Garin for causing the mess.

September 1

Jacob's classmates return to Hogwarts without him and he's pretty upset about it. Jacob writes a letter home.

September 2

Caine offers to make the Wolfsbane Potion as part of his larger effort to manipulate Jacob.

September 13

Transformation night. The Warden chains Jacob outside, he transforms into a wolf, escapes into the forest, and meets native werewolves Aiden and Kassandrah.

September 14

Morning. The Warden and her inmates set out to capture Jacob and his werewolf friends.

Jacob Warrington's O.W.L. [Ordinary Wizarding Level] Results

Welcome to
Norton St. Phillip

Norton St. Phillip is a village located in Somerset, outside the city of Bath. Population 848. Centuries ago when wizards went into hiding, they formed communities outside existing muggle villages. Norton St. Phillip is one of those villages. In all, there are forty-three wizards living here.

Before being admitted to Furiae, Jacob Warrington lived with his muggle parents Andrew and Genevieve, his brothers Amos, Daniel, and Gideon, and his sister Hannah. They resided in a two-story, four-bedroom house a mile outside the village.



Jacob shared his bedroom with his older brother Gideon on the second floor.



A half-mile from the Warrington house, down a diagonal side-road with no other houses and blocked from view by the surrounding hills and trees, one can find a barn. This building, which is empty except for a few crates, is large enough to accommodate a group of reckless young wizards. There is a level underneath the barn used for storage - and more recently occupied by a werewolf during his monthly transformations.

Jacob's father is Andrew Warrington. He is a muggle and was born in the village of Norton St. Phillip in Somerset, England.

Jacob's mother is Genevieve Urquhart. She is a muggle and was born in the city of Glasgow, Scotland.

What Makes A Mugleborn?

Although both of Jacob’s parents are muggles, there are wizards in his family tree several generations back.

Emmanuel Haywood was a seventeenth-century wadnmaker who experimented with different types of wand wood. He went around Britain “acquiring” (stealing) areas of land that contained apple, ash, cherry, elm, hawthorn, holly, hornbeam, oak, willow, and yew woods. He then used those woods to create wands. After his death, the business was inherited from firstborn son to firstborn son for several centuries… until one of Haywood’s descendents produced only a daughter, Dagny Haywood, who was also a Squib. Their other pureblood cousins rejected her and made a deal with her when she turned seventeen, that if she agreed to go away immediately, in effect handing over the Haywood estate and allowing the others to pretend that they were in fact ‘pure’ blood, they would grant her a section of land from the family estate. Dagny agreed and took over the pleasant apple orchards of Somerset, England. While she had no magical ability at all, she used the orchards to make apple cider and sell it to the local muggles and she made a decent living for herself. She married a muggle man named Benjamin Williams and their descendents would of course all be muggles too – all the way down to Andrew Warrington.

Israel Sokolsky was born to a pureblood family in 1929 in Germany. His parents noticed at a young age that he was unable to do magic properly and determined he was a Squib. In 1939 the dark wizard Grindelwald gained power in central Europe and used that power to root out non-purebloods (including Squibs) and those who sheltered them. Israel was only ten at that time, and his parents feared for his life, so that made a deal. Israel was sent to Scotland, where he was taken in by a loving British family and safely out of Grindelwald’s reach. Israel never heard from his biological parents again, but he lived a relatively happy life in Glasgow, Scotland and married a muggle woman named Isabel Montague. Their descendents would of course all be muggles – all the way down to Genevieve Urquhart.

The latent wizarding genes that existed in both Andrew Warrington and Genevieve Urquhart, when combined, produced wizarding children. They are Amos, Daniel, Gideon, Jacob, and Hannah.
