APPEARANCE.
Akira is a rather attractive young female with lightly tanned skin and a deceptively small build. Typical of her Japanese heritage, she has dark brown eyes and brown hair, but she is atypically tall. At 5'7", she is taller than most Japanese women and even some American men. When appropriate clothed, despite her height, she looks rather small and weak, but said clothing usually conceals her well-toned stomach and legs.

PERSONALITY.
On the surface, Akira is, for lack of a better word, a bitch. While she is not generally antagonistic or willing to go out of her way to be, she is known to be extremely manipulative and tactless. She is no stranger to using sex appeal, or sex, to get what she wants, and she doesn't seem to care in the least about the repercussions to anyone but herself. She excels at convincingly lying to and manipulating males, but as this often involves her allowing herself to be used as well, she tends to act just as self-destructively as she does self-servingly.

Akira is no stranger to using other methods of getting her way either. She hates being insulted or mocked, and anyone bold enough to ridicule her knows to do it behind her back, because she often lets her temper get the best of her. She is surprisingly skilled in combat without a wand, and she isn't afraid to show off her skills. This goes especially for purebloods. For all her faults, Akira is just as easy to get along with as any other criminally troubled young girl, but she seems to hold a special hatred in her heart for all purebloods. To her, they can do no right.

Lascivious and violent outer shell aside, Akira is actually generally quite amiable. She has a sarcastic nature but generally tries to avoid conflict with those who have not already started one with her. In fact, she often caters her personality to best compliment whoever she is with. Deep down, Akira is really just a girl looking for love and acceptance. She has a habit of latching on to those who show her what she considers to be true kindness or affection. For those people, she would turn a blind eye to any of their faults and do anything for them, ironically making her just as easily used as she is skilled as using others.

HISTORY.
Akira, or "Kira" as she's often called, was born Akira Shiba to two Japanese immigrants somewhere in England. Personally, she cannot remember most of her early childhood. Though she remembers her birth parents' names and even some of what they were like, unlike most adopted children, she considers it more of a curse than a blessing. When Kira was six years old, she apparently caused some incident at school that injured several of her classmates. She has no memory of exactly what happened or how, and, in fact, the next thing in her life she can remember is her parents abandoning her.

Kira's parents drove her to an adoption agency and left her there, and she spent the next four months in foster care. It was then that she was adopted by the Braddock family and was sent to live with them in London. As it turned out, the Braddock family was a family of magic users who had searched specifically for a "special" child like Kira to adopt, so they could help them develop and control their magic. Fortunately, she wasn't alone. The Braddocks had a son, Alex, who was only a few months younger than her.

Kira was soon enrolled at a secret magic school in London for young children. She and Alex were in the same class, but the longer she spent there, the more she began to feel...different. She, Alex, and a few other children formed a little less than half of the class, while the other children made up the rest. For some reason, the two groups only seemed to interact within each other. When Kira tried to play with one of the children in the other group, she found out why: No Muggles allowed.

She didn't find out what the term "Muggle" meant until later that night, and for a whole year, she thought nothing more about it. That was until she was seven and met three boys named Alistair, Shelby, and Stephen. Boys like them were the reason the phrase "Children can be cruel" was invented. The three had the kind of casual prejudice that only children can have. They excluded anyone who wasn't a pureblood from any activity they were involved in. Worst of all, they found a particularly appealing target in Kira. She was the only Asian child in the class, and the fact that she looked entirely different but spoke with the same English accent as everyone else only confused the boys. To some extent, it even confused her.

Kira began to question where she belonged in the world, or if she belonged at all. She wasn't a pureblood, or even a half-blood, but she was in a magic school. She didn't look English, or any kind of European at that, and yet she was. There were few days the boys' teasing didn't push her to tears, a temper tantrum, or both. What made it all worse was that she and Alex had been separated. When the year was over, words couldn't express her relief, and yet, for the first time since her adoption, she began to look a her "family" for what it really was: not real.

Alex and Kira were in the same class the next year, but so were the three boys from the year before. Though they continued to torment her, she realized something: they tormented Alex too. He was a half-blood - his father a pureblood and his mother a "Muggle." Kira spent the next couple of years feeling ostricized, but able to bear it so long as Alex was with her to help give her strength. Pureblood students continued to tease and taunt her, along with anybody else, but she let her frustration build in silence. She was told that she was a "Muggle." She would never be as good as any of them no matter how hard she tried, and she believed them. That was just fine with her. Kira decided that if she would always be a failure at magic, she could at least be successful at something else.

By the time she was twelve, her grades and magical performance had slipped considerable. However, she began to take a startling interest in the Dark Arts and alternative forms of defense. After seeing a poster for a karate dojo in the subway, Kira begged her parents to let her take martial arts classes. They agreed. This did not bode well when, a few weeks later, she broke Alastair's nose after he tried making fun of her failed attempt at a spell. Her parents immediately withdrew her from her martial arts classes, but she maintained the basic knowledge and skills she had gained.

After that incident, it became well known that, even if Kira wasn't terribly skilled with a wand, she was more than capable with her bare hands. Espcially for a girl. Shortly after her thirteenth birthday, though, she learned of a new way to get what she wanted from people. After a boy asked her out on her first date, she accepted, and after that, he began giving her gifts and helping her with schoolwork. Kira read all the books and watched all the television shows and movies she could to figure out how to get more people to do the same thing. She had learned of her "feminine charm." After a few more weeks, she started experimenting with flirting with boys and realized that she was actually quite attractive and that young boys would do whatever she wanted if she was willing to do things for them.

Kira doesn't remember who she gave her first kiss to, or even her virginity, but she does remember that her thirteenth year was her best. She still had classes with Alastair, Shelby, and Stephen - or the ASSes, as they'd become to be known as - and every encounter with them made her feel like she was a helpless seven-year-old girl again, but she also felt a degree of acceptance. Her grades had improved dramatically, mostly because she had begun trading sexual favors for academic ones with boys, but most of all, it was that, after all those years, any time the ASSes picked on her, Alex was right there to defend her. He'd take the abuse all on himself if it meant protecting his adoptive sister, and nothing meant more to her than that.

At the age of fourteen, Kira had already been in and out of school for fighting more times than she could count. If it weren't for her family vehemently defending her, she was sure she would have been kicked out of school, and if she hadn't kept her "extracurricular activities" a secret, she was sure she would have been sent straight back to foster care as well. The pureblood ASSes weren't very happy about it either. After deciding to "put her in her place" one day, the three cornered her alone outside of school and attacked her. While she was better with her fists, they were better with their wands, and the altercation left her bruised, bloodied, and with absolutely no way to prove who her assailants were.

Alastair especially held the event over her head. He took every possible opportunity to remind her of her inferiority. Kira knew she had no way of proving that he and his friends had attacked her, and when she could no longer contain her frustration, she snapped. It was true that he was generally better with magic, but she had one thing he didn't: the Dark Arts. Kira followed Alastair and his friends after school and took her revenge. She snuck up on the three and quickly killed Stephen and Shelby with the Killing Curse - Avada Kedavra. When Alastair tried to retaliate, she disarmed him and cast the Cruciatus Curse on him. She tortured him for minutes before his screams finally drew someone's attention. After being found out, she quickly killed Alastair with Avada Kedavra and tried to escape before she was found, but she didn't make it very far.

Kira was sentenced to Furiae faster than you could blink. For the first couple of months, her violent tendencies only increased until she realized that the same strategy she'd used to get over in school could work in her new prison. There was no shortage of males willing to help her bend the rules in return for letting them use her however they wanted. Since the facility has moved, Kira has calmed considerably. Though she still has an unpredictable temper, she's displayed a genuine interest in improving her magic skills and, to some degress, learning to control her anger. Still, as far as she's concerned, she's headed to Azkaban, and she wants nothing more than to enjoy her time as best she can until that time comes.
