We are a Harry Potter-based, post-book game set in the present day. Lord Voldemort has been defeated and the wizarding world is back to business as usual, and business as usual for thousands of underaged wizards and witches world-wide means skipping school, drinking, cheating, stealing, and fighting. Play as an inmate, a marshal, or one of the creatures native to the island.
Welcome to Furiae Correctional Facility, the only international institution that will whoop your children so you don't have to.

The river was a long and snaking thing that flowed halfway across the island, but the nearest bits of it were very close to the facility, no more than a quarter mile's walk. Inmates made the trek all the time to do laundry, clean their boots, or just generally splash in the spray. Or drown each other. You know, as the need arose.
Corrigan Livingstone was no exception. It was late afternoon, the sun warm against his back as he made the short hike out. Keeping true to his character, the seventeen-year-old had skipped the day's lessons and simultaneously somehow avoided detention for all of them. By now, the Marshals just tended to ignore him and Corrigan liked that just fine.
The day had the makings of any other day in the facility for Corrigan, and as he walked, gray robes swishing around him (the cloak that's color would ordinarily identify his House for any inmate he didn't know he'd left back in the barracks), he had a chance to think a little. Like it or not, "graduation" was growing steadily closer to Corrigan with every step, and it wouldn't be the good type of graduation. Corrigan knew he was headed for Azkaban, and now that it was so close, he couldn't help think about it.
He rounded the bend. He forgot promptly about Azkaban. He swore, and then froze.
Dead ahead of him, crouched on the bank and lapping at the water, was a large wolf.

Dorian was walking outside. He had heard through whispers in the facility that there was a river nearby. He was in the mood to just relax by the water and maybe wash his face off and cool down. He had little idea where he was going though but he didn't mind getting lost a little. He didn't fully believe all of the creatures he had heard about were truly wandering around the woods. He also was not particularly afraid of them.
Dorian turned a corner, his robes curling around his legs as he did. Suddenly he stopped in his footsteps. In front of him was another boy, he guessed a fellow inmate from the school, and a wolf right in front of him. He had been wrong in assuming the school faculty was trying to scare him. The danger became very clear at this moment. He saw the boy in front of him and wished to help him. He couldn't tell whether he was a fellow pure blood or not but if he was it would be wrong for him to leave the boy to fend off the creature alone. Dorian began thinking of what he could do to help him.
Finally, Dorian decided what he was going to do. Up to now, it seemed the wolf still had not noticed either of them and the boy had not noticed him. Dorian took out the school offered wand and quickly picked one of the many curses he knew and said, pointing the wand straight at the wolf, "IMMOBULUS". The wolf was unable to move now but Dorian did not trust this wand to be anywhere near as strong as his own had been and therefore he did not trust the curse to last very long.
Dorian acted quickly, grabbing the boy by the arm and running back the way they had come. He wanted to get as much space between them and the wolf as quickly as possible in the hopes that the wolf would be unable to find them. He didn't stop until he slipped on a wet patch of ground, taking the other boy down with him. Only then did he stop and catch his breath, turning to face the boy, curious as to who he was. Once he had caught his breath and his wand was away once again, he spoke. "You okay. I thought they were kidding when they told me there were creatures throughout the woods that could kill. I was wrong. And if you don;t mind me asking, who are you anyway?" Dorian continued to sit and catch his breath as he waited, listening for the sound of approaching footsteps just in case the wolf had managed to find them, although he doubted it would, or rather he hoped it wouldn't.

Everything happened so fast that Corrigan barely had time to take it all in. One moment he was contemplating his own mortality, faced with one of the larger wolves he'd ever seen (he couldn't quite recall what the properties of a dire wolf had been, how to tell the difference between it and a regular wolf, but he was fairly certain that he'd be able to pull off a pun about it anyway in a moment here). The next minute another inmate came out of the blue, immobilized the beast, grabbed him by the arm, and the next thing Corrigan knew was that they were racing off back to the facility.
They eventually stopped somewhere in the meadow, after Dorian tripped and Corrigan tripped and in a flurry of flailing and "whoa"s both boys wound up seated on the ground.
"You okay?" Dorian was asking, "I thought they were kidding when they told me there were creatures throughout the woods that could kill. I was wrong."
"Direly wrong," Corrigan said sincerely, snickering. Ha! Get it?
"And if you don't mind me asking, who are you anyway?"
"C-Corrigan L-ah-Livingstone," Corrigan said. He stuck out a muddied hand for Dorian to shake, "Inmate oh-oh-eleven. You?"

"Nice to m-meetcha," Corrigan said, taking Dorian's offered hand and getting up himself.
"Inmate eleven? I'm guessing you've been here a while. How is it here? Doesn't seem half bad but looks tend to be... deceiving."
Corrigan laughed. He knew he wasn't the right inmate to give a valid assessment, so he didn't quite reply; he figured as he wiped his hands down that Dorian would make his own judgement call in the end, with or without Corrigan's opinion interjected into it. The truth was, for all the harm it did to him, unlike almost anyone else around him Corrigan loved Furiae.
"Oh, I g-got that after they ah-ah-instituted th-the n-numbers. We j-just lined up. I happened t-to be eleventh." He shrugged it off, adding, "I've actually b-b-been here since I was eleven, j-just about. Seventeen now."
That magical number. Seventeen. His lopsided grin faded a little, uncharacteristically. Seventeen. One more year. Less than one more year. He'd had dozens of chances - seven, in fact - to get out. He'd had 49 level promotions in his six years at Furiae, and he'd lost them all, and now at last was a method of forcing him out of Furiae that he couldn't avoid just through bad behavior. Corrigan didn't want to think about it.
The grin returned full-forced after a half second though. "You're n-new? That e-explains the wolf." He nodded back to where they'd run from. "M-most anyone else'd've just l-l-let it eat me. I l-liked him though. You th-think it was a werewolf? Ah no, that d-doesn't make sense. It's not even d-dark."

"Wait... did you just say there are werewolfs on this place too? What other creatures are there?"
"Oh, loads," Corrigan invented out of pure habit, and then corrected himself upon the further realization that this wasn't an instructional period. "Actually, there were l-loads on the past island, at least... this one, n-not sure." He added then, like his next two words would explain anything that Dorian could possibly have ever wanted to know, "We m-moved."
"Hey, since you've been here so long, do they ever do anything of interest or do we need to make our own entertainment the FUN way? Not that I mind that, but at least I know what to consider thinking about when I'm stuck in there."
"I always d-do my own stuff," Corrigan was saying, absently rubbing the back of his neck. He'd started walking down the path at a slow pace by now, assuming that Dorian would come along with him. "I d-dunno, it sort of d-depends on what k-kind of things you like to d-d-do."
Out of a pocket he produced a slightly smooshed, bready roll that he'd stolen and tore it in half, offering one piece out to Dorian and chewing on the other. "I kinda wouldn't m-mind getting something sweet. Wanna see if there's a b-bee hive somewhere?"

"Well what do you like to do? Maybe we'll have something in... i don't know in common."
Corrigan started laughing at the absurdity of the statement. "Sure," he joked, warming up to Dorian rather quickly. "Who's y-your favorite Qu-quidditch team? D-do you play? What p-position?"
The teen grinned over at Dorian to show that he was joking, all while keeping an eye out for their sticky prize. He teased, "Well we're b-both locked up ah-ah-ah-in here for st-starters. That isn't e-enough for you?"
At the bee hive, Dorian's plan for actually getting the honey was about as well-prepared as Corrigan's, really, which is to say that it was non-existent. He trudged along after his new friend, right up to where their presence infuriated the bees and several came out, aggressively.
"Whoa!" Corrigan wasn't getting stung! He backed up rapidly with Dorian, his wand out. Not that he knew any spells for acquiring honey, but hell, he was pretty sure that together they could think of something.
"Freaking bees. All I wanted was a little honey. Jeeze."
"Yeah," Corrigan was agreeing, nodding along. "M-maybe if we tr-tried ah--err..."
He hesitated, staring at Dorian, whose cheeks were beginning to look rather puffy. "Are you - are you alright?"
