TFC... holy fucking shit this game brings back alot of memories.

where do I start? I'll list the characters, and their most noteable features:

9 classes:

Scout
Scouts are good for flag-capping. They're very weak, but also the fastest class in the game, and if played right, you can run through the enemy's base without taking too much damage, if any. They also can drop caltrops, which cause "leg damage" - leg damage just makes you move slower until you recover from it. This is obviously detrimental when trying to catch a fleeing enemy scout carrying the flag.

Sniper
Snipers are just that: snipers. However, there are two things that set them apart from your average everyday sniper: 1. The power of their shot depends on how long you hold down the trigger. Upon firing the trigger, you let off a weak shot that doesn't do much damage. However, if you hold down the trigger, you project a laser light, and start to move slower. As you hold down the button, the target gets "brighter". If you were to hit a medium/weakly-armored character with a fully charged shot, they would explode, literally. 2. Their rifle can be used as a semi-automatic weapon, if they need to defend themselves in close-quarters. This class was a personal favorite of mine for years.

Soldier
Soldiers are not your average m60 toting ground-pounders - in fact, the only weapon that sets them apart from everyone else is their rocket launcher. However, they have the strongest armor next to the "HWGuy", and because of this, they can perform "rocket jumps". Rocket jumping is simple: Look down, jump into the air and fire off a rocket. You will damage yourself, but you'll be propelled to areas only accessible to other soldiers/anybody who can "conc jump". See the medic description for conc jumping. Soldiers also carry nail grenades: when dop ,they levitate in the air, spin around and spew nails in every direction, until it explodes when the clip empties.

Demoman
'Demomen' carry a grenade launcher, which can launch two types of grenades. The first type of grenade is a normal grenade, it explodes after a set time; but the second one is a 'remote' grenade - a typical strategy among demoman-users is to launch multiple pipebombs around high-traffic areas, and when a large group of enemies travel by, they explode the grenades. Demomen also have access to "detpacks" which can destroy certain parts of levels, opening up areas that allow secret access to the enemy base. Demomen also carry mirv-grenades, which just explode, then release little "bomblettes" that scatter, and then explode.

Medic
The thing that sets medics apart from your average lightly-armored and lightly-armed medic is the fact that their medpacks do poison-damage to enemies. If you "attack" an enemy with a medpack, they become "diseased". Doesn't sound that good yet? It gets better: if that infected enemy comes into contact with one of his teammates, that teammate becomes infected, and anyone they come near gets infected, and so forth. Medics cannot become infected, but can be damaged by medkits; enemy medics can heal infections.

The medic can also "conc jump", which means throwing a concussion grenade(non-damage, but makes the screen move in such a way that makes it extremely hard to attack people), and jumping over it as it explodes. Since there's no fire/explosives, it's just pure force thrusting you into the air. These two things make skilled medic users extremely formidable, and potentially the most destructive class in the entire game. This is another personal fave of mine.

Heavy Weapons Guy
Nothing special here: they're the only class that carries heavy armor, and they use chainguns. Typical "newbie" class; playing this game for up to an hour makes 90% of people who chose him switch to other classes. However, they can prove to be good distractions on your team; letting the enemy pump everything they've got into 2-3 HWGuys approaching their base, while you sneak in from underneath....

Pyro
These guys are a handful. First of all, fire does not damage pyros, so being a flame-spewing maniac isn't going to hurt. The two weapons that set them apart is, obviously, their flamethrower, and their "incendary cannon". It's alot like the soldier's rocket launcher, however: the projectile travels much slower, and upon impact, it sprays flame everywhere. Flame is annoying because it drains your health, and fills up your screen disabling your vision temporarily. They also carry a grenade which does the same.

Spy
Spies are probably one of the hardest classes to truly master, but one of the funnest. When you make jokes about "running faster with the knife" - this is that joke's grandaddy. Spies have the ability to literally just change their 'skin' through the right-click menu, and look like different types of enemies/foes. It's very easy to move through the enemy's base undetected as a spy, but that's only half the fun. The spy comes with a knife, which upon being stuck in somebody's back, is an instant kill. That's probably the best part! They also can feign death, and they come equipped with a tranquillizer pistol which makes enemies move/turn slower, and they also have a "gas grenade" which causes hallucinations; people affected will see explosions/gunfire, things/sounds that aren't really there - in a high-paced FPS game, that's extremely distracting and detrimental.

Engineer
Engineers are also the grandaddy of the engineers you see now in every other FPS game, ala Battlefield 2. Engineers come equipped with EMP grenades, a "railgun", and can build upgradeable auto-guns/ammo dispensors. They can also repair teammates armor with their spanner. In order to build/repair things, engineers need to pick up 'metal'. Metal is just ammo/armor they pick up that doesn't get put to use. Sentry guns start off as a simple one-barrel machine gun on a tripod. Upon upgrade (beating it with the wrench), it turns into a double-barrled gun. The third time you upgrade it, the machine guns store more ammo, and now have a rocket-launcher added on. When you drop a sentry gun, you can't just leave it there - it takes damage, and runs out of ammo, so it must be maintained constantly. Ammo dispensors, are not special except for the fact that they can be used as remote-mines of sorts. Dump an ammo dispensor near your team's flag, and when it gets stolen, you detonate all of the ammo inside the dispensor. This class was a personal favorite until that retarded STEAM came out and "upgraded" him; upon STEAM, engineers can now build one-way teleports, which nobody used. What good is a teleporter if the enemy is going to find it in their base and destroy it? lol.

anyway, that was a hefy explaination of the classes, which I've written in parts while doing other shit....so I'm never explaining those classes again. rolleyes.gif

Also, I didn't list most of the other weapons, because for the most part, characters use alot of the same weapons: crowbars, nailguns, shotguns, double-barrle shotguns, and grenades.
