attacks can happen at anytime, and anywhere. chances are threads will be disrupted by monsters, or threads will be created with the sole intention of unleashing a monster on the city. when that happens, posting requirements change, a post order is put into affect, and rolls (using a randomizer) are done. what are these rolls? nothing more than simple things that can befall all characters in the thread, whether it be an injury, a chance to escape, losing powers, or being corrupted by chaos, etc. it's more than the simple "see the monster, run to or away from the monster, and defeat it". do you have to participate in monster attacks? no, not necessarily. the point of this thread is to let you know how attacks work, what each roll will mean, and for you to sign up your character as being eligible for rolls, or to simply not be included in attacks at all.
when a monster attacks a thread, there will be a layout of the posting order, the monster's powers and weaknesses, and the results of the rolls for the characters involved to play out. attack threads are a bit more lenient -- players only need to post 100 words rather than the site minimum located in the rules. this is the only time short posts are allowed.
ROLL A ONE --- physical injury. another roll will be conducted to determine what sort of injury it will be: burn mark, bruise, scrape, broken limb, twisted limb, cut, knocked unconscious, etc.
ROLL A TWO (for those wearing a crystal crescent moon) --- powers fritz out. this could make it impossible for the character with power to defeat the monster, and chances are the powers will remain on the fritz for a few days, just to be realistic. a second roll will be conducted to decide how many posts the character will have their powers on the fritz, anywhere between 1 and 5.
ROLL A TWO (for those without a crystal crescent moon/civilians) --- temporarily gain a power. an unknown power source sees that help is needed and temporarily gives a power to whomever is closest. these powers are for good, and will help battle the monster at hand, but will vanish as soon as the fight is over. the power given will depend on the monster at hand.
ROLL A THREE --- the monster goes free for whatever reason. it could be a result of characters arguing, or fighting with one another, and allowing the monster to slip through their fingers; or it could be because the character isn't powerful enough to defeat the monster, and it gets away.
ROLL A FOUR --- secret identity is discovered by another. another roll will be done for those included in this thread to see which of the characters will discover the identity.
ROLL A FIVE (for those wearing a crystal crescent moon) --- loss of powers. for some reason or another, a character with power may lose their powers temporarily, either through just the post or through a few posts. a second roll will be conducted to decide how many posts the character will be without powers, anywhere between 1 and 5.
ROLL A FIVE (for those without a crystal crescent moon/civilians) --- hero for a day. this means that those without awakened powers, or haven't found their crystal crescent moon, that there is a sudden heroic feeling bubbling up within them. that means they will try to do what they can to help save the day and save others. some may succeed, others will fail. a second roll will be done to decide which it shall be.
ROLL A SIX --- corrupted by chaos! chaos will take over the person for a short amount of time, and all the nitty-gritty details of what mission chaos sends the corrupted person on will be exchanged via pm. a second roll will be conducted to decide how many posts the character will be corrupted, anywhere between 1 and 5.
