maureen has been a single parent for several years now, and it hasn't been easy for her. mary and molly don't always get along, and i'm sure mary does more than enough to try maureen's patience. she owns a jewelry store that's done pretty well for itself, and is thinking of expanding when an old flame, walter ushiba, walks back into her life. balancing romance, business, and motherhood probably won't be easy -- especially since molly and mary are unlikely to warm to walter right away.

she's the sort of woman that often makes self-sacrifices for her daughters, but i can see maureen being torn between a second shot at love and what her daughters want -- as she she should be.

for mary's part, she's used to having her mom's attention. it's part of why she acts out so often, because then she's able to get her mom to stop and give her the undivided attention she'd like. it'll probably take some coercion from walter to actually get mary to think about letting her mom date again, but i think it can be done.

there are certainly times when mary can be hard to handle, and i'm sure maureen wonders what she did to deserve such a kid -- but deep down, mary' has never really recovered from her father's death, and i think at some point she could break down to her mom about it, and that could give them something to finally bond over. mary's not trying to be difficult on purpose -- not in the sense that she's being a rebel; she merely doesn't like change, and it's high time she grew up and started to accept change, and responsibility. having maureen around would definitely push mary on the right path.

there's only a year difference between molly and mary. for the most part, mary is extremely jealous of the bond between serena and molly. she's always wanted to be close with her sister -- she used to tag along with her as a kid, but molly didn't seem to like that, or mistook all of mary's teasing and hanging on as being done on purpose, or in a mean way, and probably just found mary annoying. so, of course, mary's done everything she can to live up to that assumption and gone out of her way to annoy her sister.

pranks are done almost daily; mary is constantly going through molly's room and things; and she's always making fun of her sister, or just mocking her in general. again, it's not done to be cruel -- mary just doesn't know how else to get molly to pay any attention to her.

molly's own life will be made complicated by serena eventually keeping secrets from her, the whole thing with melvin, and then her mom thinking about dating again. at some point i'd like to see molly and mary work out their differences -- even have mary blurt out that she does what she does because it's the only way to be part of molly's life. after all, they're sisters, and they both care for each other in their own way.

they can easily bond over the whole walter deal, or maybe molly will grudgingly ask for help figuring out what serena is hiding from her, and mary would totally help out for a few favors, or just to rub it in that she's helping molly out of trouble. i'd think that if mary ever got into any sort of trouble of her own, molly would step up to the plate and protect mary -- even talk down bullies or something.

lo and behold, mary does have a friend that's a girl. it's kind of funny that she even stands coral, because frankly, coral is a lot like serena and molly combined -- and mary claims to dislike them.

i think mary probably protects coral, or has taken her under her wing from people that might laugh about her for being so overly romantic, or downright silly. coral doesn't seem to give any thoughts to what people say or think about her -- she lives in a dreamy sort of world, so it's probably a good thing that she has mary looking out for her.

i'd say they met a few years ago, and that they've been fairly close ever since. coral is popular and can go around with the popular crowd at school, or at least get along with them, but she still hangs out with mary and sammy, and on occasion, eian.

coral would also be good for mary, because she probably points out things that mary might not notice -- like her crush on sammy that mary hasn't figured out yet, or even how she's just being mean to her sister to get her attention. i'd say that despite how coral acts, she's still pretty observant about a few things, and that she and mary are good influences on one another in a way.

besides, mary has to have someone to hang out with when sammy is grounded for the millionth time. and even if mary doesn't get it, she'd probably ramble after coral as she gushed about melvin/stalked him, or you know, tried to get his attention. she wouldn't really help her, but she'd probably be wise enough to bite her tongue so as not to hurt coral's feelings.

she's also the younger sister to amber (located on the generals canon list), so she'd have that aspect to contend with down the road as more monster attacks occur, and as amber becomes involved in them.
