It just has to have a strong feeling towards Teddy. lt can be hate, jealousy, or lust. That would explain the killings of the ones that he loved. I've imagined that it's a woman about Teddy's age who become jealous of his lovers. Now every human that Teddy falls in love with either dies or becomes a vampire. But this is just a thought. Like I said before this is a very open character.
