The elf king needed no excuse other than a nice day to be found outside, other than the fact it was a beautiful day. He walked through the town, the only other person with him was his highest ranking general and lover. His fingers linked with Eve's as they strolled through his countries capital. A smile firmly placed on his lips as he greeted people as he passed by.Slowly he made his way toward his favorite tavern, enjoying the buzz of the busy streets. It was a starck contrast to the halls inside his palace.

Finding a seat outside the tavern he sat down. The shade of the trees making the area cool and comfortable. Reclining he pulled Eve into his lap. The owner came out and handed Ein a mug full of his favorite ale, they exchanged playful banter and Ein payed him for Ale. Leaning back into his chair he smiled to Eve. "Lovely day eh darling? He slowly drained the ale in his mug and licked the foam from his lips.

He watched people pass by their table, when the hair on his neck stood. Ein sat up and looked about. His senses tingling, telling him someone with a bit of power was in the area. The looked around, the only person he could pick out was a boy. A lone boy, not too impressive looking, but Ein couldn't ignore the feelng. "Hey you lad, come here."

Dylan was outside with Shane. They had decided that since Kyle hadn't annoyed them yet. He had seen that it was a nice day, and for once he had suggested that Shane and him go walk. He always kept his eyes on Shane. He hated to let her out of his site, always afraid of what Kyle would do.

Dylan smiled at Shane. She was happy to be out on such a gorgeous day, he could tell just by her smile. Dylan smiled, watching her walk ahead of him. He watched as she spoke to some guys, and girls she knew. She was much more social then him, and so she knew many more people. He knew she was anxious to get away with her friend and he gave her a nod and a wave. He wasn't about to hold her back. He hadn't seen Kyle around today so he figured she was pretty safe.

He was just turning to head back when he heard a voice speak up behind him. He didn't know whether they were speaking to him so he looked around. There was really no one else around nearby. That pretty much only made it possible for him to be the one being spoken to. He turned and smiled, heading over.

"Hello." He said, softly, when he got there. He didn't meet anyones eyes. He barely ever did. He simply smiled, shyly.

Eve wandered in the city streets, hand in hand with Ein. That in itself was a rare treat. Usually she had to maintain her distance from her lover, so as not to incur his jealous wife's temper. Unlike Jackie, Eve understood that Ein loved the both of them, and was not going to make a fuss about his relationship with Jackline. But that did not mean she didn't love it when the two could be together without all the fuss. When they reached the tavern Eve smiled as she was pulled down into his lap and snuggled close to him. "Perfect day," she agreed.

She was enjoying the cool of the shade, and being close to Ein when he spoke again to someone. Slowly she turned her head to see who. Some boy. Eve didn't see much need in him speaking to Ein...but Ein tended to see things in people that others missed. He'd found the good in her after all. The boy came over and greeted them. She frowned at him. "That isn't the proper way to greet your King," Eve said almost without thinking.

Dylan nearly jumped when he heard what the woman had said. He was afraid to look up, and embarassed. How could he have not realized it was the king he was speaking to. He couldn't believe it, let alone understand it. Why would the king want to speak to him? He was nothing special. He was no one. Barely anyone, outside his family, even knew his name. If anything Kyle had tried to spoil his reputation along with the rest of his families.

"I'm sorry. Excuse my manners." Dylan said, bowing. "I am sorry your highness." He looked up for the first time and blushed, before looking back down at his feet. He still could not fathom nor understand what was happening and why the king had called him over. Shane would probably laugh at his situation if she saw, and he would tell her later. He could only imagine her thoughts. He hoped he wasn't going to be in trouble for his lapse in manners. He really hadn't known it had been the king, as he hadn't looked. He typically didn't watch where he was going or look to see who was speaking initially. He usually didn't look until he knew if the person was acting hostile or not.

A smile found it's way to his lips as Eve reprimanded the boy. She was always the strict task master, even during her down time. Setting his mug down, he sat up in his chair and looked at the boy. Ein noted how the boy had averted his eyes, even before he knew Ein was the king. "You are forgiven." He said as he observed Dylan's nervous nature. Tapping his chin he thought for a moment. He couldn't let the boy walk. Not with the potential he was sensing.

"What is your name lad?" Ein knew he wanted this boy trained and on his staff. And he would have what he wanted. He had a feeling it would be good for the boy. He seemed way too skittish, and he could think of no other way to get him to grow out of it than to put a sword in his hand. "Eve darling, how is your student schedule looking?" There was no better teacher than his highest ranking general. If anyone could make a sturdy man out of Dylan it was certainly Eve.

Dylan shuffled his feet nervously. He was typically pretty socially inept without Shane around. She was the social butterfly, even after all Kyle had done to both of them, and continued to do. Dylan, well he was more of the quiet, gentle one. He continued to smile shyly and avert his eyes as he waited to be spoken to again. He was relieved when the king said that he was forgiven. That sent a huge wave of relief on him and slowed his shuffling feet. He looked around again, wondering if Shane was still nearby, knowing it would make him feel much more at ease if she was. She was nowhere to be seen.

"Dylan. Dylan Newhope, sir." He responded, with a small bow again. He didn't even know how to react to this situation. It still baffled him. Why would the king waste his time speaking to someone like him. He was even more shocked when he heard what the king said next. Student? What did he mean? He couldn't possibly be discussing what Dylan thought he was. It wouldn't make sense. He was nothing special to look at, let alone make a judgment like that. There had to be plenty of other boys much better and that deserved what he was thinking much more. Kyle was constantly degrading him, and making him feel useless and at times Dylan really believed it, and that is why this turn of events was really shocking him.

Eve calmed again once the boy had apologized. She was his general...the King's Champion, if you will. It was her job to make certain he was treated properly. And maybe a boy failing to speak properly to his king wasn't that big a deal. But Eve had the tendency to make it into one.

Quietly she sat back and let the conversation continue. Until she heard Ein speak to her. Student? Truth be told she was rather low on students at the moment. Most of them tended to drop out in the first few weeks, saying she was too hard on them. She wasn't certain that she wanted to waste her time on someone as shy and skittish as this Dylan kid. But then again, Ein almost always knew what he was doing. "I could take on another one, if you wanted," she told him.

Dylan really was glad that his apology was accepted. He felt horrible for having not realized it was the king. He smiled and looked up at the two. It was rare for him to meet anyones eyes, but he needed to. He needed to figure out if the king and evelina were serious. He still did not understand it at all.

"Wait. So you want me, to become her student? That means you..."Dylan was trying to sort it out. It still made no sense why he would be chosen. He knew kids that he went to school with and worked with that would be much better suited. Kyle would certainly have a field day with this if he found out. He didn't want Kyle to find out, though somehow his older brother always seemed to know everything.
