Yes, we have a venue and it is a go.

Saturday 5th July

5:30pm to 10:30pm

Freeman's Bay Community Hall, 52 Hepburn Road, Freeman's Bay, Auckland. (down the hill from Ponsonby Road)
The bus routes that goes close by are the Link, which goes along Ponsonby Road. Or the 017 which goes along Wellington Road.

We are having a Shindig, a fancy party/social gathering/event.

We are planning to have gaming, a scifi pub quiz, costume competition, raffles, auctions, stalls selling goodies, a donations table, drink and nibbles, a big screen showing a range of fan-created Serenity and Firefly inspired clips including Mosquito and Done the Impossible. Heaps of things to see and do.

Door entry fee (cost to be confirmed)

Ok, door costs.

Bronze ticket = $5 (includes free nibbles and 1 free raffle ticket)
Silver ticket = $10 (includes free nibbles, 2 drinks and 1 free raffle ticket)
Gold ticket = $20 (includes free nibbles, unlimited drinks and 2 free raffle tickets)

Note: all drinks are non-alcoholic, so juice, fizzy, punch, coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc.

Raffle tickets will be $2 each. List coming of what is up for grabs.

Gaming area:

We will have a range of sci-fi and Serenity/Firefly inspired games available for people to play. These include:

- Munchkin Serenity (Space Munchkin combined with The Good, The Bad and the Munchkin) We will have one of the local MIB's on hand to teach people the basics and to hand out special goodies during these games. The Munchkin Serenity pack will be auctioned off at the end of the night, kindly donated by the local MIB's.

- Tall Cards. This is the gambling game that features in the Firefly episode "Shindig" with Jayne, Bok, Wash etc betting on who does the dishes etc. We will have several sets available for play, and hopefully have a few extra sets for sale.

Pub Quiz

Around 7pm we will be holding a quiz styled on Pub Quizes. Teams of three will be pitted against each other for the honor of being the first ever winners in the Auckland Serenity Pub Quiz. And hopefully some loot as well :)

Questions will fall into a range of categories. These include Serenity, Firefly, and general Scifi and fantasy from both movies, tv and books.

Dancing/Shindig

We hope to pop on some more suitable dancing music later in the evening if people would like to some. We have access to a range of music so any requests are welcome.

Viewing area.

We have a special area of the hall set aside for a projector screen and will be screening a range of clips, interviews, fan inspired music videos including Mosquito send especially by the creators at Emerald City. We will also be giving that away to some lucky person at the end of the night ;

We will also be premiering the first ever screening in Auckland of Done the Impossible. We also will have a few copies of this dvd on sale at the stalls. Let us know if you want one, to book ahead.

This viewing area will be running all event, and the viewing items will be on loop, so you can pop in any time and watch some or all the way through.

Special pre-event parasol painting event.

If enough people are interested we will be holding a parasol painting workshop on the morning of Saturday the 5th of July. If you are interested, please let me know asap.
