every summer, the little island off the coast of california is filled with teenagers from all over the state, and even some from the rest of the corners of the world. camp lakoda is the place to be, for campers and counselors alike. but with so many people in one place comes drama. when summer is over, bags are packed, and friendships are broken, let's blame it on september.

FRONT OFFICE
welcome to camp lakoda! first you get the gravel parking lot, where campers are dropped off by their parents, and after that comes the front office, in a log building with a surprising amount of electricity.

LAKE LAKODA
camp lakoda is spread around the shores of the lake that gives the camp its name. it's warm enough during the summer, but freezing cold any other time of the year.

GIRLS' CABINS
the girls' cabins are full of the smell of perfume and the sound of loud music and laughter. unless you happen to have roommates you can't stand -- in which case it's the sound of yelling. lights out by eleven.

BOYS' CABINS
while the cleaning staff dread these cabins, the boys don't even spend all that much time here. and when they do, they don't seem to notice the smell of sweat. curfew is ten o'clock, and lights have to be out by eleven.

STAFF CABINS
there are considerably less counselors than there are campers, and the counselors don't generally spend as much time in their cabins as even the campers.

CAFETERIA
three meals a day, with no specific times set for each one. as long as you get there in a reasonable range of time to the rest of the campers, there should be food for you.

every night at eight o'clock, the campers and counselors gather around a fire to do stereotypical camp things -- sing songs, roast marshmallows, and socialize.

always surrounded by tanning girls wearing sunglasses and home to most of the playful water fights and pool floaties that the camp owns, the pool is the place where most campers go to relax.

a building full of paint, easels, paper, glue, and scissors. you can make whatever you'd like here -- the counselors will at least be happy that the place is being put to use.

football, soccer, cheerleading. when these three haven't staked their claims on the green grass of campus, it's free territory to anyone else. the camp also houses courts for basketball, tennis, badminton, and volleyball.

composed of a music room, an auditorium, and a dance studio, this area of campus is home to the theater kids -- the people who can eat, sleep, and breathe the arts.

most of the campers who live out in the middle of nowhere find this to be their favourite place to be on campus. it has a comforting smell of hay and people can board their own horses here, if they wish.

the busiest street in town isn't all that busy, to tell the truth. still, it's the place that houses most of the shops and restaurants.

the ferry terminal is located on a long spit of land stretching out towards the mainland. the ferries go out only on the odd-numbered hours and have a limit of fifty people each.

there is a surprisingly large number of campers that hail from all around the world, not just los angeles and the area immediately around it. the airport is where they flock to at the beginning and end of the summer.
