West Ham United sign young Swiss goalkeeper

West Ham United have completed the signing of Raphael Spiegel for an undisclosed fee from Grasshopper Club Zurich.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper, who has agreed a three-year deal with the Hammers, will join up with his new teammates later this week.

Having represented Switzerland at all youth levels, Spiegel has been widely tipped to earn senior international recognition in the near future.

Despite speculation that he could be loaned out for the upcoming campaign, Spiegel is expected to stay at Upton Park, where he will provide competition to fellow keepers Jussi Jaaskelainen and Stephen Henderson.

West Ham have signed teenage goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel from Swiss side Grasshoppers for an undisclosed fee, the newly-promoted Barclays Premier League side have announced.

The 19-year-old, who is a Switzerland Under-20 international, has penned a three-year contract until 2015 with an option for a further year and will arrive at the club this week.

The 6ft 3in custodian made 17 appearances for Swiss second tier side SC Bruhl SG last season, having played 41 games in the previous two campaigns for Grasshoppers' second team in the third tier.

West Ham United appear to have won the race to sign Real Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis after agreeing a deal with the Spanish club.

The 27-year-old is heading to Upton Park for a medical after Mallorca announced they had agreed terms over his transfer.

Ramis had been linked with a number of clubs in England, and it looks likely that Premier League newcomers West Ham are poised to beat off the competition.

A statement on Mallorca's official website read: "Mallorca and West Ham have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ivan Ramis.

"The Mallorcan defender has the permission of the club to have a medical with what will be his new team."

Wigan Athletic, Everton, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Celtic had all been linked with Ramis.

If the move is finalised, Ramis would become West Ham's sixth signing of an already busy summer for manager Sam Allardyce.

Blimey! I really thought Liverpool wouldn't go for that! Nolan must have some friendship with him!

I guess that means the end of CC with Maiga also up front.

James Collins joins West Ham from Aston Villa for £2.5m

West Ham have sealed the £2.5m signing of James Collins from Aston Villa.
The 28-year-old defender, who left West Ham for Villa in September 2009, passed a medical on Tuesday and becomes Sam Allardyce's seventh summer signing.
Collins could have left Villa Park on a free transfer next summer, but manager Paul Lambert has opted to cash in now as he looks to raise funds to rebuild his squad before the new season.

West Ham sign Alou Diarra for £2m from Marseille

West Ham have completed the signing of French midfielder Alou Diarra from Marseille for a fee reported to be £2m.
Diarra, 31, signed a three-year deal at Upton Park on Friday after completing his transfer from the French side.
The midfielder, who spent three years at Liverpool but did not make a first-team appearance, played all four of France's games at Euro 2012.
Diarra said: "I am excited to be here at this club and to be playing for them in the Premier League."
He added: "I know a lot about West Ham as a club. When I knew they were interested in signing me, I was very happy and knew it would be a good choice for me.
"We are a Premier League club and I know of players who were here before like Paolo Di Canio and Scott Parker, but of the players now in the team, I know Guy [Demel], Mo [Diame] and of course, Modibo Maiga, who played in the French league last year."
Diarra, with 44 international caps, has played the majority of his career in France. But his Marseille future was placed in doubt when he reported back from Euro 2012 six days late, an infraction for which he was fined.
West Ham have already paid Aston Villa £2.5m for James Collins this summer and brought in Mali striker Maiga, who completed a £4.7m transfer from French club Sochaux last month,- as Sam Allardyce rebuilds his promotion-winning squad.

West Ham have agreed a deal worth a potential £10.75m for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Matt Jarvis.
The fee was settled between the clubs late on Wednesday night and the 26-year-old England international will travel to London on Thursday to discuss personal terms ahead of a medical.
Wolves had turned down three previous bids from the Hammers, but finally accepted an offer of £7.5m up front.
Further add-ons will take the package past £10m, a West Ham club record.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has been tracking Jarvis, 26, all summer and is now hopeful of completing a deal before Saturday's trip to Swansea City.

if the Jarvis deal go,s through as it seems it will it could be the catalist for other big signings, players look at big spending clubs as good options even if they are less fancied than the likes of the manchester pair or the 3 london clubs,if liverpool get another striker in it might see the exit of Carroll that would make things interesting,i said a few weeks ago that the Corroll move was not going to happen i got the info from a pal in newcastle,Carroll was ready to work hard in training and wait for his chance now though he is getting the hump with Rogers so look out.......

"From an attacking sense he is one of the best final-third crossers," said West Ham manager Sam Allardyce.

Old news now but needed to keep this thread up to date!

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Andy Carroll on loan from Liverpool with a view to a permanent deal.

The Hammers have worked hard to do a deal for the England forward with Liverpool initially reluctant to do a loan deal for the man they paid £35million for last year.

But the newly-promoted side have persuaded the 23-year-old to move to London and confirmed they have an option to make the signing a permanent one for an undisclosed fee next summer.

The player himself insists he is just looking forward to playing games - and scoring goals for Sam Allardyce's side.

"It's great to be here at West Ham and all signed up - I just can't wait to get started now," Carroll told the club's official website.

"I want to be playing games and obviously hoping to score some goals. I know the manager well and some of the lads, so it is nice for me to come to a place where I know people.

"I'm hoping to add a lot of goals and create a few chances. I know Sam from Newcastle and he was a massive reason for me coming. When I worked with him at Newcastle it was great so it was a no-brainer really."

Great signing

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is delighted to have got his man and believes he has acquired the services of an all-round talent.

He said: "I think for all parties this is a great signing. Andy is an all-round footballer, but because he is 6'3" and one of his strengths is his aerial power, everybody dismisses the ability he possesses on the floor.

"Hopefully he can score goals for us and we will be in a very good position at the end of the year in the Barclays Premier League."

Benayoun, who spent last season on loan at Arsenal, has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Eden Hazard and Oscar.
