Title: Can We Keep Green?

Hammerofthescots - May 22, 2012 01:01 PM (GMT)
WEST HAM fear Robert Green may have played his last game for the club.

England’s No 2 keeper, 31, will begin contract talks this week and is looking for a 50 per cent pay rise to around £45,000 a week.

The Hammers, who will bank £90million after bouncing back into the Premier League, are concerned he will price himself out of a job.

An insider said: “It’s early days and everyone is keen to keep Rob at the club.

“But the demands of the players have to be realistic even though there is a feel-good factor after promotion. The board is still battling huge debts.”

Joint owner David Sullivan revealed promotion cost the club £14m in bonuses and pay rises.

I noticed he made a 'crossed fist' hammers sign at the end of the match, not sure of the meaning really, is that staying or going ?

bedshammer - May 23, 2012 06:43 PM (GMT)
I want him to stay. That's all.

We have been linked with Almunia since he has been let go by Arsenal. May be if Greens wage demands are too much we need to keep the wage bill down. Almunia would not be a bad replacement for a year or two until we get consolidation.

But yes best to keep Green if we can.

We've already signed Stephen Henderson from Pompey, back up maybe?

45K to stay in PL sounds like a bargain to me.

A lot of money for a someone who can't catch a cross!

We let Bofin go just before the end of the season, there must have been a reason for that :dunno:

Rumours abound on KUMB that Green has gone to Sp*rs and we have signed Robinson.

potatoblight - May 24, 2012 08:36 PM (GMT)
Not sure if that would be a good swap

Hammerofthescots - May 24, 2012 10:36 PM (GMT)
I wish Sp*rs would just fuck off and die!

Why are all our best players linked with them ???

:nospurs:

Anyone have any news on Mr Green?

Hammerofthescots - May 31, 2012 06:21 PM (GMT)
If you read the rumour columns negotiations have broken down and Green is going to QPR ( why you ask as they will go down this season IMHO).

We are going for either Jaskelienen or Stockdale as a replacement with Henderson.

Might be a load of bollicks of course! :D

He's left the club, boo.

He has gone on a free transfer, sounds like he wanted to get away for more money.

IMHO apart from not getting in a transfer fee it is no big loss.

He has had moments of brilliance but I never felt totally confident in him. He is the not the kind of goalkeeper who "commands" the penally box.

Jaskelienen could be a very cheap and still a very good goalkeeper.

Well said, he never comes for crosses and has trouble catching the ball in those Kenny Everett gloves, his moments of brilliance usually came after he stayed on his line having never dealt with the situation in the first place.
He let himself down bad with that England fumble, before that he was hardly ever beatenby shots from outside the box.

At least we (& Sam) will know what to do if we come up against him in the furture.

Greeney won't like long ball football that's for sure!

He is not out of contract untill the end of June, what happens if he get injured whilst at the euros ?

He has been linked with T*ttenham, QPR, West Brom and Malaga, suprised Chelsea aint interested :dunno:

Gib's 'appy 'ammer - June 4, 2012 07:09 PM (GMT)
I hope we don't live to regret this as Green has been one of our stand out players for several seasons. If he has gone then good luck to him and I hope he gets the big club he wants.

Now who do we get as a replacement? I'm unsure if Jaske is the man; my preference would be Gordon as he has something to prove!
