Examining the posts, I have two questions regarding the abilities, actually:
Do you get a basic idea of who you're summoning when you use a power like Mediation? Like I said before, it's pretty useless to summon a dairy farmer when you really need to get a scientist, so it random, do you have a vague idea of what you're summoning (channeling power to summon a warrior's spirit as opposed to a barmaid's), or is it dependent on where you are and whose souls would still be tied to the area?
And Kikota brought this one up, but what manner of magic is Blood Magic capable of? We saw a binding spell and a fireball... is it virtually anything so long as you have sufficient life fluid to power it and sufficient energy and concentration to direct it, or are there proper guidelines?

Mediation, like Summoning, does not channel random spirits; it channels the spirits of actual characters, forces, and creatures we will be encountered in the course of the RP.
As for Blood Magic, it provides general augmentations. Once we actually get our hands on magic and such, Blood Magic will make everything more awesome and allow for some stuff that other brands of magic can't do, provided a blood price is paid one way or another.

On Mediation, that still doesn't quite answer my question. I assume it would be usable at any time, much like the other abilities (otherwise whoever gets it does get a rather raw deal, if it's only available at story points), so if it were to be used at a point where it isn't vital to storyline... what gets channeled?

Whatever you want. Think of Tales of Symphonia; you can summon a great number of creatures, but only you've actually met and defeated the Summon in question. Same with Mediation; as long as you've earned the ability, you can channel it. I think there'll be a bit of a limit on it at first, but that'll obvious die out with time.

List, to the best of may knowledge:
Blood Magic: Magics involving sacrifice of blood. Be careful when using it, because remember, you do run on it.
Alteration: Manipulation of the body in order to provide additional speed, stamina, strength, etc.
Comprehension: Manipulation of others in order to heal, provide temporary boosts, deal precision damage, etc.
Mediation: Ability to channel gathered souls through the body (both beings and beasts) to temporarily gain their abilities, attributes, and mind. May also involve a limited form of Summoning.
Projection: Ability to temporarily solidify remnants into geometric shapes, allowing for utilization of crude tools or even the shapes as they are.
