After a long delay and lots of letters being sent back and forth, we have an official date and venue!

September 12, 2009
Crystal Mall Shopping Center in Burnaby, BC (adjacent to Metrotown Centre)

Final schedule, events, and details are being finalized, but you can expect to see many of the same events as last year, including but not limited to 2x2x2, 3x3x3, 3x3x3 OH, 3x3x3 BLD, 4x4x4, 5x5x5, and Rubik's Magic. Under consideration for this year are Pyraminx, Megaminx, Square-1, and 7x7x7.

Get practicing, because September is NOT that far away.

More information (including how to register) will be posted on CanadianCubing.com as it becomes available. Discussions will also happen on our facebook group, "Rubik's Cube Solvers Vancouver" (http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?ref=sb#/group.php?gid=8336572494).

aww I'm sad now :(
I was going to visit Kelowna for a week or so over summer vacation and I was hoping the trip would coincide with VO(S) so I could come to it.
Will there be a cube meet sometime over summer in Vancouver that I can come to instead?

By "official", then, you mean you guys signed the contract and it is final? I don't think i got that from the last email, but maybe i misunderstood it.

As per our conversation, this is to confirm that you have approval from
Crystal Mall to host a Rubik Competition at the mall on Saturday Sep 12th
2009 instead of Sunday Sep 6th 2009. Thank you. Please keep me posted all
updates related to this event.

We try to have meets at least every two months, although with school letting out end of June, it wouldn't be too hard to have one in July and one in August. I'll letcha know in advance.

Aww maaaan! I was also hoping to come to VOS, but the timing doesn't work out, so I don't think I can attend. Ah well, maybe next year it will work (*Fingers crossed*)

If you can't make it to a competition with about 5 months of notice, i don't know what to tell you.

I feel really bad that no matter what university I choose to go to next year, classes start September 7th... I mean, unless I can fly out the first weekend, stay at my grandparents (and tell them how much I LOVE CUBING, since they don't know how freakishly obsessed I am), go to the competition and dash back by Monday...

Ah yeah, that's rough. I thought there was going to be a meet during the summer too. Oh well, grats on getting a competition up, good luck to everyone participating.

Among our group, the interest was mostly towards the big cubes (V6 and 7). Personally, I wanted to see Square 1 and Pyraminx, but it might not be up to me at this point. Still lots to be done for the planning and organizing, however.

To anyone who was at the Vancouver Open, if you find that you have an extra black 3x3 with smooth tiles, It's probably mine. Contact me at counterterranelectron at gmail.com.

I have collect one cloth after the clean up. If no one claim it after a few weeks I will donate to the box near Safeway.
